Chewing sugar-free gum after a meal brushes your teeth

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Chew sugar-free gum after a meal when you can?t brush This action actually helps remove food debris and stimulates saliva flow Replace processed foods with more fruits, nuts and fresh vegetables to reduce the amount of decay-causing, refined sugar in your diet Stop smoking ? it not only causes major diseases but stains teeth, causes bad breath and can lead to gum disease and even oral cancer Sip soda through a straw to help reduce the acid attack on your teeth Change manual toothbrushes every 2-3 months ?when those bristles appear splayed they simply don?t clean as well and can even damage your gums .

Is it advisable for a 21 year old with all teeth but not in perfect shape n size to get replaced by a new artificial set of teeths for a better dental care and smile?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
No.Always what is natural is the best.I suggest, if for cosmetic and aesthetic reasons you can't go for artificial teeth. However you can still go for orthodontic ( that's braces. We can now give you invisible braces too) or restorations like Laminates, Veneers, or composite restorations to give yourself a beautiful smile .We can give you beautiful smile designs these days. So don't get your natural teeth replaced. What's God given and natural is the best.Artificial will not be half as good.

The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

The cause could be food lodgement behind the tooth thats not an easy are to clean. Go for a proper gum massage followed by warm saline oral rinse 3 to 4 times a day. If the problem still persists after 10 15 days it would be better to go for removal as it may cause pus formation and further complications.

Hello Lybrate user, gap in between teeth can easily be closed by wearing braces. It takes approximately 8 to 14 months to finish the treatment. In india it usually costs from 30 to 50k. Few other methods to close the gaps are laminates and veneers. Visit a dentist to find out which is suitable for your case. According to me go for braces, it takes time but you will have beautiful smile for your life.

There are several causes of tooth discoloration, including: Foods/drinks. Coffee, tea, colas, wines, and certain fruits and vegetables (for example, apples and potatoes) can stain your teeth. Tobacco use. Smoking or chewing tobacco can stain teeth. Poor dental hygiene. Inadequate brushing and flossing.... here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- Mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. for faster result you can go for TEETH BLEACHING from dentist...

Although excessive saliva is not too common, there are a number of conditions that can cause it - some harmless, others more serious. It is possible that your saliva problems are just a result of the way you speak. Some people speak faster or slower than others, just as some people blink more often, breathe faster, or have a more rapid heartbeat. This may just be what's normal for you. Since it is negatively affecting your life, I suggest your problem can be ignored. However there are medical conditions that causes excessive salivation injection glycopyrrolate reduces secretions in the mouth, throat, airway, and stomach.

Rebagen 10, morning one tab & one at night for 5 days, c. Becosules 5 cap, for five days in the morning after meals. Hexigel ointment on the area of ulcer. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Treatment dental pain teeth pain may be due to various reasons like infection, sensitivity or trauma. If your teeth is decayed it is better to get it filled or treated by a dentist. If you are opting for root canal treatment do not forget to get a crown on the effected tooth. If you want to go for only medicinal treatment so let me tell you only medicine are not going to be very effective untill you get this treated by a dentist.

If you never undergone for dental cleaning , first you should visit a dentist for cleaning.Because one of the main cause for bad breath is improper cleaning. On other side u should brush properly two times a day.And use a mouthwash at night before sleeping. And you can continue with ginger. It also helps in this case. Thank you.

I have a swollen gum above the wisdom tooth, its very painful, applied gum care lotion, can you suggest some antibiotic.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
I have a swollen gum above the wisdom tooth, its very painful, applied gum care lotion, can you suggest some antibiotic.
it is called as pericoronitis. . if swelling is not there in jaw or cheek ,treat it by rinsing your mouth with warm salt water. You should also make sure that the gum flap has no food trapped under it. If the pain and inflammation are severe, or if the pericoronitis recurs, oral surgery to have the gum flap or wisdom tooth removed may be necessary.

Its depends upon the situation and the condition of the remaining teeth as well as budget. Implant cost is more then conventional bridge.
