Dear Lybrate user external applications will not help you since beard growth depends on various internal factors mainly androgen hormone thus you need an internal medicinal treatment for permanent results.

Try to restrict the intake of salt alongwith increased intake of fruits and vegetables and daily exercise. You can try alternative medicine for a couple of months. If nothing works then I am sorry to say, but you have to take medicine otherwise there may be harmful effects to your vital organs like heart, brain and kidney.

Risk Factors Associated With Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma!

MD - Radiothrapy, MBBS

Risk Factors Associated With Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma!

Non Hodgkin Lymphoma is when the cells in your lymphatic system become cancerous. The lymphatic system is responsible for fighting off diseases, which may attack your body. Initially, tumors develop from the lymphocytes in your body. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is much more common than the other type of lymphoma which is Hodgkin lymphoma. There are various types of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma; the most common of which are diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and follicular lymphoma. Here is everything you need to know about Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Symptoms
1. Swollen lymph nodes: A swollen lymph node in the neck, underarm and armpit which comes about without any pain is a very common symptom of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
2. Fever: When you have a sudden unexplained fever, it may be due to Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
3. Night sweats: Night sweats are simply when you sweat excessively in the night.
4. Fatigue: Feeling extremely tired can be due to Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
5. Weight loss: A sudden unexplained loss of weight is a very common symptom of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
6. Itchiness: An itchy skin is a rather serious indicator of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Causes
Just like other forms of cancer, it is not known what causes Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but there are factors, which put you more at risk compared to others.

Risk factors
1. Immunosuppressive drugs: You are most likely to develop Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, especially after taking immunosuppressive drugs after a major organ transplant.
2. Bacteria and viruses: Certain bacterial and viral infections cause Non-Hodgkin lymphoma including the HIV and Epstein-Barr virus as well as the Helicobacter pylori bacteria.
3. Pesticides: Research suggests that overexposure to the pesticides which kill weeds increases your likelihood of developing Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
4. Age: Elder people are also more likely to suffer from Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Treatment
1. ChemotherapyChemotherapy comprises of administering drugs to kill the cancerous cells, either through injection or orally which kill cancer.
2. Radiation therapy: Radiation therapy deals with radiation which is directed at the parts of your body affected by cancer.
3. Medications to enhance the immune system: There are many medications which fight off cancer by boosting the immune system. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Oncologist.

I. From delhi and I am suffering from redness of eyes please help me sir/mam to avoid this problem please help.
Eye redness is most often due to swollen or dilated blood vessels. This makes the surface of the eye look red. There are many causes of a red eye or eyes like infection, allergy. Foreign body in eyes. Some are medical emergencies and some are a cause for concern, but not an emergency. Others are nothing to worry about. Consult your local eye specilist to see what is the cause.

Hello, My elder brother is addicted to alcohol, he eats Gutkha and also smokes, he has this habits since 10 years now, he is now married for 3 years and have no kids, he became very weak and his head shakes all the time due to weakness we are very much worried and want him to get rid of this bad habits of alcohol, we have asked him to quit this habits but he won't listen. We do not want his wife life to get spoiled because of him. We want him to lead a healthy life. Please help.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Both of them are orally ingested habits of alcohol and gutkha and so quitting can be a little difficult but can be done at one time. There are no guarantees about stopping one’s addiction. But that does not mean we should not keep at it, over and over again until we succeed. Now it is difficult to give up all by himself because he has become addicted to alcohol and gutkha and there is so much to do. Under such circumstances it is best that he is admitted into a de-addiction center and stay there for at least 6 months and after that he can attend counseling with a professional. Since he has probably tried and found it extremely difficult I suggest he does one of the following: It sounds like he is in an advanced stage of alcoholism and gutkha use and needs admission to a rehabilitation center to ideally help deal with this problem. There are medicines that help with the drinking just to ease the initial craving and to act as an antabuse i.e. He will have a serious reaction, if he consumes even a small quantity of alcohol or alcohol based substances. It has to be carefully monitored to see that he does not only consume the medication but is also avoiding alcohol. Ultimately, it is his will power and the support that he receives from the medical fraternity and his close and dear ones. He must also learn to substitute and deal with the oral need, a rigid value system, the script issue, and of course take a look at all the genetic factors to plan a strategy not to get into what is called ‘cross addictions’ i.e. Another form of addiction that may appear alright but is in fact as bad as the primary addiction. The center or hospital and the counselor will advise and guide him on several measures and precautions he will need to take to stay with his resolve. Even after the rehabilitation he must attend AA meetings and continue this support for a long time. The family will also need to attend some sessions and go for Al-anon meetings for their co-dependency issues. He cannot be treated in isolation because the family has gotten used to his drinking in particular and have made some unhealthy adaptations to somehow cope.
