I am 48 years old I am suffering for diabetic and blood pressure please Advise medicine.

General Physician (AM)
Alternative Medicine Specialist, Chandigarh
Having diabetes makes high blood pressure and other heart and circulation problems more likely, because diabetes damages arteries and makes them targets for hardening (atherosclerosis). Atherosclerosis can cause high blood pressure, which if not treated, can lead to blood vessel damage, stroke, heart failure, heart attack, or kidney failure. You can consult me in private for detailed treatment which is available in biochemic system of medicine depending upon symptomatically. Eatng lots of garlic. If you cant have it get it homeopathically allium sativum (biochemic) nat phos 30x, avoid all types of fats and red meat.

What was the main symptoms of diabetes and what precautions take in diabetes to prevent from it.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

What was the main symptoms of diabetes and what precautions take in diabetes to prevent from it.
Diabetes mellitus invariably does not cause any symptoms, that is one of the reason why people do not realise that they have problem. When fully developed may cause excess urination, excess hunger, excess thirst, unexplained weight loss and tiredness. In most patients detection of diabetes is by chance. There are two types t1 dm where there is no insulin produced, an autoimmune disease, most often starts in early age. Second is t2 dm a familial disease, most common form. It is a preventable disease. If one maintains normal weight, takes a controlled diet, exercises regularly avoids too much of sweets, junk foods, pastries and sweetened aerated drinks then there is a possibility preventing or postponing t2 dm.

Can a Few Walnuts a Day Keep Diabetes Away?

Can a Few Walnuts a Day Keep Diabetes Away?
How walnuts helps in controlling diabetes.

Walnuts are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids that have multiple health benefits including lowering bad cholesterol and increasing brain power. But did you know that having a few walnuts everyday can actually lower your risk of getting type 2 diabetes? read on to find out how.

So how can walnuts prevent diabetes?

Both high levels of ldl cholesterol in your body and improper blood vessel functioning increase the chances of developing type 2 diabetes. Making walnuts a part of your daily diet results in the enhanced functioning of your blood vessels and lowers the amount of harmful ldl cholesterol in your body, thereby reducing the risk of developing diabetes. Moreover, consuming walnuts can lower your chances of becoming obese (due to their high fibre content), which is another risk factor for diabetes.

Are there any scientific studies to back it up?

Recently a study conducted by the harvard university proved that having a fixed amount of walnuts per week was instrumental in lowering the risk of getting diabetes. This study consisted of a detailed analysis of the health and lifestyle of about 138, 000 women over the last 10 years. They were asked in every two years about their health and daily routine. Once in every four years, they disclosed information about their daily diet and the kind of food they had and how often they had it. When the research was initiated none of the participants were suffering from diabetes, while at the end of it there were nearly 6000 women who had been diagnosed with the condition. The study led researchers towards the conclusion that those women who consumed 57 or more grams of walnut every week (which is equivalent to 14 walnuts/week) reduced their risk of getting diabetes by 24%, and those who ate about 28 grams of walnut per week ensured 13% lower chances of developing diabetes.

So, start eating walnuts today to get the most of its health benefits. You can have them as a snack or you can add chopped nuts to your usual foods like rice, soups, smoothies or breakfast cereals to keep diabetes at bay.

Lybrate-user, all the symptoms being mentioned including weight are pointing towards not very well controlled hypothyroidism. When on treatment ideally tsh should be between 3 to 4 milli units /l, then only all the symptoms are in check. Plus efforts to control weight are fruitful. Since you have only mentioned" always in control" without tsh levels, it is difficult to comment. Your bmi is 25.36 kgs / m2,(normal 23 kgs/m2), to reach that bmi it should be 63 kgs. There is no special formula or exercise to reduce weight. You have do a daily workout of over 1 hour, brisk walking, jogging or running are good options. In addition muscle strengthening exercises also are needed, at least on 2 days of week. It is better if you join a gym and do the workout under the instructions of a trained professional. Your diet has to be also controlled. It should provide exact calories based on 63 kg wt. Hence, intake should provide 63 x 25 cal = 1575 calories per day. Thanks.

Based on sugar levels it appears the person probably has t2 dm. In the details no medicine for diabetes has been mentioned. No info on weight & height, also on hba1c% and lipid profile. I need those details to answer. If all cardiac parameters are normal there may not be a need for angio gram.

You're taking right medicine for palpitations but medicines for thyroid do stimulate the heart. Get the dose regulated. Some cases of borderline thyroid need no medicines and are cured by good diet, exercise meditation and yoga. It's worth not taking medicines for thyroid if reports are on the upper or lower end of the range. Compare it to a borderline diabetic with sugar level as 140 fasting. The person is on higher side but can be corrected by not taking sugar. Or a low sugar patient is corrected by giving some liquid diets rich in sugar. Similarly thyroid hormones in body are present in a range.
