How to solve a problem of a person who is having sugar disease. and heart problem. What are the best medicine.
diabetes one has to take anti diabetic drugs or insulin injections as advised, and also observe dietary restrictions, exercise daily for more than 1 h and avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk food and pastries. Plus maintain weight near normal. For heart disease the the treatment and other guidelines will depend on what exactly is the disease. There is nothing like best medicine, drug requirement will always be based on what is the diagnosis.

Pay close attention to your food choice. ·        Eat less carbohydrate food sources like chapatti, rice, noodles, pasta, bread etc as they help in gaining weight and storing fat. ·        While having lunch or dinner eat vegetables and dal to fill your stomach rather eating lots of chapattis or rice. ·        Have a healthy breakfast like poha, idli, upma, plain dosa, oats, dalia or khichdi with vegetables. ·        Eat a balance diet including good quality proteins like: fish, lean chicken and eggs. If you are a vegetarian then include skimmed milk, low fat paneer, butter milk, soy bean or soy milk in your diet. ·        Avoid ghee, butter or vanaspati. Prepare your diet with vegetable oil like sunflower, safflower soybean or olive oil. ·        Eat plenty of salads. ·        Eat fresh fruits including apple, orange, pineapple, papaya, sweet lime, berries, guava, watermelon, mask melon etc. ·        Avoid eating outside junk and fried foods like pizza, pasta, roll, burgers, cakes, chocolates and cookies. ·        Have an early dinner. The earlier the better, giving your system more time to digest the food. ·        Avoid cold drinks/alcohol as they add empty calories to your diet. ·        Avoid fat enriched milk products like cheese, sweets, full fat cream etc. ·        Drink 3 liters of water in a day. ·        Try to have less sugar in food and beverages. ·        Try to drink 2 cups of green tea in a day as green tea helps in weight loss by aiding digestion. ·        Avoid red meat like mutton, beef, lamb or pork. ·        Eat sprouts or roasted chana, whenever you feel hungry. Kindly mention your Thyroid profile and revert.

Fruit salad and blood sugar estimation by glucometer do not mix.
Eating fruits with fingers and doing blood sugar by glucometer without washing fingers with soap and water can give high blood sugar just by sugar sticking to fingers.Even cleaning finger tips with alcohol swab will not help.If eaten fruit with fingers, then wash your hand first before doing blood sugar by glucometer.

I am having thyroid problem for 1 year. My age is 18. My level is 14.1.i want to get solution for this.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. The value 14.1 mentioned is it of TSH? Because nothing is mentioned. If it is TSH then it is high, signifying you have hypothyroidism. This needs to be treated with Levothyroxine. Dosage depends on body weight, TSH value and T4 level. Looking at your weight and height, it is clear that with a BMI of 27.34 kgs/M2, you are over weight. This could be due to hypothyroidism. Unless hypothyroidism is brought under control, efforts to reduce weight will not be successful. It is better if you come in a private consultation with full details of thyroid test results, I will be able to guide specifically. Treating hypothyroidism is very essential, otherwise it can cause problems like weight gain, slow heart rate, dry skin, dry hair and hair fall, irregular menstrual periods, excess flow, swelling of face and lower limbs anxiety and later problems with fertility etc. Thanks.

Mr Prabhat, To give any guidance I need to know present fasting and PP sugar levels, HbA1c%, weight and height, dietary pattern and extent of exercise. It is better if you come in a private conversation with all the details, where I will be able to give specific advice. In the mean time take diet that provides exact calories based on your ideal body weight, sugar levels and extent of daily exercise. Refrain from alcohol and smoking. Consume good deal of green leafy vegetables and salads.
