No need to be worry. It is due to hormonal changes. Anovulatery cycle leads to late period and scanty menses. Start homoeopathic treatment. You can consult me on private chat.

My wife is 24 year old. We got married 2 yrs ago. Some days ago an ovarian Cystic Lesion was found in my wife. But after medication and complication of her period, she had a test and found that No cyst is no more and test report is ok. Doctor prescribed me DRONIS-31 for 3 months. Is this medicine related with Cyst? What actually DRONIS-30 is for? Please answer.

Actually dronis 30 is meant for contraception (avoidance of pregnancy). But it is also prescribed in ovarian cysts and irregular menstruation. And yes, often some cysts appear and disappear, we don't give much importance to these cysts.

I am 30 year old and 1.3 year old son. I have pcod problem. Periods is not coming on time. Please provide some advise to solve this problem.

Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Polycystic ovary syndrome treatment generally focuses on management of your individual main concerns, such as infertility, hirsutism, acneblack or obesity. As a first step, I recommend weight loss through a low-calorie diet combined with moderate exercise activities. Low-fat, high-carbohydrate diets may increase insulin levels, so you may want to consider a low-carbohydrate diet if you have pcos as prescribed by a registered dietitian only. Don't severely restrict carbohydrates; instead, choose complex carbohydrates, which are high in fiber. The more fiber in a food, the more slowly it's digested and the more slowly your blood sugar levels rise. High-fiber carbohydrates include whole-grain breads and cereals, whole-wheat pasta, bulgur wheat, barley, brown rice, and beans. Limit less healthy, simple carbohydrates such as soda, excess fruit juice, cake, candy, ice cream, pies, cookies and doughnuts. Even a modest reduction in your weight for instance, losing 5 percent of your body weight might improve your condition

When should you expect to get your period the first month on the pill & are abdominal pains normal?

When should you expect to get your period the first month on the pill & are abdominal pains normal?
Menses will come within 7 days of stoppind the last 21st pill in the packet. And pain which she used to have during menses is going to be reduced considerably, as there is no ovulation when on the pills, except if she is suffering from endometriosis.

After my first delivery my anus and vagina passage combined and motion pass to my vagina also can it be operated and treated, thirty years has passed.

MSc-Psychology, MHSc-Reproductive and Sexual Medicine, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Sexologist, Hyderabad
In difficult vaginal deliveries, the area in between anus and vagina gets cut or wont heal after repairing also. This can be operated any time in life. The success depends on --how much it is cut and how bad and tough it healed; on the skill of the surgeon also. You can get operated now also. Success may be around 80-90%. If no success it can be repaired once more after 3 months

Diet in Diabetes a commonly asked Question ?

Diet in Diabetes a commonly asked Question ?
Dear friends, a proper measure for knowing and managing your diabetes will be to ensure a hba1c below 6.5%. Regarding diet, we indians have high carbohydrate diet. You have to closely observe your plate and you can come up with a better diet plan for yourself. To simplify it, identify the items which are carb rich in your plate and try to compensate the same with protein and fibres, for eg cut down a roti and increase sabji, dal or salad. To have a better control you can do a monthly self glucose monitoring 3 times a day and keep a track of the food with it. Check fasting sugar, sugar one hour prior to lunch and 2 hrs post lunch, and note down the details of her breakfast and lunch items. Modify as per my earlier suggestions and within a week you will see your blood sugar level responding. Keep a regular exercise schedule, around 45 mins walk would also do. Best of luck.
Please note self glucose monitoring and diet control is the only way to manage diabetes.

I have pcod. My egg size is 5mm on 13 th day and 16 th day. Its not vary. So I stop the usage of dufeston tablets. Egg not growing then I get periods normally? Any lagging to come periods? In this stage any chance to I get pregnant. Pls tell me.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
As egg is not growing this month menses will be delayed and you will not get pregnancy this month. Dose of clomiphene citrate needs to increase from the next month for egg growth. Duphastan is not needed in this cycle and in any cycle in future as our body secretes the same if pregnancy occurs.

It is time to make first of your many ante-natal apointments after the pregnancy test shows a positive result. Your general practitioner will further refer you to a obstetrician.

My wife is pregnant, 6th month, her hb is 8.2, dark circles are appearing and being dark day by day is it normal? what should she take to increase hb? any special medicine? please reply asap.

Dark circles are normal. But Hb should be increased. Whenever a pregnant lady comes to us, we can not give enough time to see all reports, but we must concentrate on Hb- so she needs therapy- depending on detailed result- iron or not, blood may be needed. In some cases, iron should not be given. So, detailed blood tests are eesential.

White Potato Vs. Sweet Potato - What Nourishes the Body More?

White Potato Vs. Sweet Potato - What Nourishes the Body More?
White Potato Vs. Sweet Potato - What Nourishes the Body More?

The debate whether white potatoes are healthier or their sweeter counterparts can be put to rest if you consider the nutrient content of both.

It will be favourable to begin with the fact that each type of potato, whether white or sweet, has its own health benefits, though they differ in nutritional content. So, let’s take a look at what both have to offer when it comes to nutrition.

1. Starch and fibre content
Starch and dietary fibre are present in high amounts in both white and sweet potatoes. Starch provides your body with immense energy, enabling you to perform your daily tasks. As for fibre, it keeps your stomach full for a long time.
1 cup of white potato contains 10 grams of starch and 1.8 grams of fibre, while a similarly sized serving of sweet potato comes with 16.80 grams starch and 4 grams fibre. So when it comes to starch and fibre content, sweet potato is the clear winner.

2. Potassium content
Potassium is required by your body to aid the process of metabolism and to support the proper functioning of your nervous and muscular systems. When it comes to potassium, yet again sweet potatoes record a higher content. A regular cup of sweet potatoes contains 448 milligrams of potassium, while a cup of white potatoes contains 305 milligrams of the nutrient.

3. Vitamin content
Vitamin A plays a vital role in enhancing your vision and improving your immunity. Sweet potatoes are enriched with considerably larger amounts of vitamin A in comparison to white ones. Consumption of a cup of this spud in chopped form gives your body 18,869 IU or international units of vitamin A in comparison to the mere 6 IU contained in the same amount of white potatoes. Additionally, sweet potatoes prove to be superior in terms of vitamin C and B6 content as well, which provide for better metabolism and an enhanced nervous system.

So sweet potatoes are clearly better for your health than white ones. Moreover, their calorie content is also lower than that of white potatoes despite being sweet to taste.

I am getting married soon. It's going to be a first time for both of us. What precautions/preparations/contraceptives should we take for the first time.

F.C.P.S.(Mid. & Gynae), MBBS

Congratulations on your marriage. It is not imperative to have sex on the first night. Choice of contraceptive depends on the interval you want to avoid pregnancy, what options you both are comfortable. If possible visit a gynecologist to understand what options are good for you.

Eat meals at frequent intervals. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy eggs nuts fruits in your meals. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. Even if you were to take medicines or supplements. They will not work in isolation. You have to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal.

As first was normal delivery so there is high chance of normal delivery. But that exactly depends on the condition of your baby and yourself. We usually try to avoid cesar if 1st pregnancy was normal delivery, unless it's absolutely necessary.
