Jab m jyada mobile ya computer use karta hoon to meri aankho me pani aane lagta hai.
The solution for this problem is its reduced usage and while using computor/mobile use in proper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the computor /mobile screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of computor /mobile usage or take frequent breaks.---------------- homoeopathic medicine-------------------- cinelube eye drops (hapdco) pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

I am 26 years old now. I am suffering from a eye problem from the past 10 years. Whenever I give little bit of pressure in my eye like watching tv or mobile for 3 or 4 hrs irritation occurs. Even I can't sit in the window sit in bus or car. Heavy winds pressure causes eye irritation. During irritation some very small scar like thing occurs in my eye Cornea. Due To the movement of cornea this scars causes deep irritation. Sometimes I can't even open my eye. It persists for 1 or 2 or 3 hrs then suddenly goes away within second. Cornea scars also disappears. I often suffer due to this 2 or 3 times in a week. Causing lot of problem in my day to day life. What can be the reason and solution of this problem?

Hello lybrate-user, With the information provided by you the most common conditon that I can think you are suffering from is Dry Eyes Syndrome (also know as Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca or Sjogren Sydrome) or may be some variant of dry eyes syndrome. It is a condition in which there is deficiency of tears in the eyes leading to dryness causing uneasiness and all the symptoms which you have mentioned. The salivary glands may also be affected in this disease and lots of patients also complain of dryness of the mouth. The temporary corneal scars which you are mentioning, those may be stringy discharge that causes discomfort. To diagnose the condition you will require clinical evaluation of the eye followed by these tests- Tear Break Up test, Schirmer Test and Epithelial Staining. There may be possibilities of other diseases also (Differential Diagnosis) like Eye lid infections, Allergic Conjunctivitis or Side effect of some drugs (Medication), Which can cause these symptoms. The treatment of Dry Eyes depends on the severity Medications includes Tear Subtitutes (Lubricants) Topical Corticosteroids. Topical Cyclosporin Surgery includes Punctal Occlusion. My suggestion is to evaluate your eyes with a Eye Doctor to diagnose the condition, and if it is Dry eyes then stage the disease and start the treatment accordingly.

Myopia - Know The Ways It Can Be Treated!

Myopia - Know The Ways It Can Be Treated!

What Is Myopia (Nearsightedness)?

Myopia is a common refractive error of the eye that makes it difficult to focus on far away objects. People who are nearsighted will see objects close to them clearly, while those further away appear blurry. Myopia is natural. An overall longer shape of the eye usually causes myopia, so it is a naturally occurring visual problem that cannot be prevented. Nearsightedness tends to run in families, but you don't need to have a myopic parent to develop it. Myopia begins at an early age and worsens in the teenage years, but generally stabilizes in adulthood.

Here are the most common signs and symptoms of myopia:

  1. Objects far away, like a chalkboard or road signs, appear blurry
  2. Persistent need to squint or close eyelids to see clearly
  3. Headaches due to eyestrain
  4. Difficulty seeing while driving a vehicle, especially at night (night myopia)
  5. Need to sit closer to the television, movie screen or the front of the classroom
  6. Holding books very close while reading
  7. Not able to notice distant objects

Causes of Myopia

Nearsightedness happens when your eye is longer than normal, or, less often, when your cornea is too curved. It’s a problem in the focusing mechanism of the eyes. However, the exact cause of myopia is not known. Research about myopia supports two key risk factors:

  1. Family history. If one or both parents are nearsighted, the chance of their children developing it increases.
  2. Working up close. Myopia may be helped along by how a person uses their eyes. Intense detail work, long hours in front of a computer or reading can also increase the chances of developing myopia.

Treatment Options for Myopia (Nearsightedness)

When treating myopia, the goal is to help your eyes focus on far away objects. The most common way to achieve this is through

  1. Corrective glasses
  2. Contact lenses
  3. Refractive eye surgery, such as LASIK, is available for adults and those with moderate to high levels of nearsightedness

Adults who have developed cataracts may also have their myopia corrected with an intraocular lens (IOL) that replaces the human lens during cataract surgery. The most appropriate treatment depends on your eyes and your lifestyle. Nearsightedness can also be corrected as part of the cataract surgery procedure.

  1. Contacts and Glasses: Eyeglasses and contact lenses can correct myopia. However, they cannot stop the eye from growing longer or cure the irregular curve of the cornea that causes your blurry vision.
  2. Surgery: Surgery can decrease or eliminate dependency on eyeglasses and contact lenses. LASIK surgery is the most common type of surgery to correct myopia.
  3. ICL (intraocular collamer lenses) or phakic lensesIn adults with cataracts, is an option for those myopic patients who are not suitable for lasik surgery due to either less corneal thickness or very high myopia.
  4. Orthokeratology: A new type of treatment which offers an alternate solutions to people who are suffering from myopia. This is also known as Ortho-K. As a part of this procedure a person has to wear specialized lens overnight, to correct the vision for the next day. Orthokeratology is a process that uses specially designed GP contact lenses to temporarily reshape the contour of the cornea to reduce myopia (nearsightedness). In addition to the benefit of lens-free daytime vision, orthokeratology is starting to be appreciated for its ability to slow the progression of myopia. A number of published clinical studies have found that orthokeratology lens designs inhibit the growth of the eye's axial length, which determines the degree of myopia. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a ophthalmologist.

I am 18 years old sir my eye sight is weak -1 I can not see far images clear is there any aloepathic or aurvedic medicines for improving eyesight or any yoga exercise?

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
To completely correct the number, only way is to use glasses or contact lens. It can' t be reduced to 0, neither by ayurvedic nor allopathic medicines. But after age of 20 yrs when your number stabilizes you can go for lasik. It will completely neutralise your number and then you will not require any specs.

I have eyes problem and I don't see far things clearly. Please suggest me some ideas related to my diets.
Hello lybrate-user, > inability to see far things might be due to myopia (most commonly), which could be corrected by wearing spectacle/ contact lens. > it could also be something more serious. Please have a consultation with an ophthalmologist. Food items which are orange coloured (like papaya, carrot, mangoes), green leafy vegetablesetc have high amount of vitamin a, which is good for our eyes.

Any activity that requires intense use of the eyes -- such as extended amounts of driving or reading -- can cause eye fatigue. These include extended periods of: reading writing driving exposure to bright light or straining to see in dim light can also cause eye fatigue. One of the most common causes of eye fatigue is staring for long periods at digital devices such as: computer screens smartphones video games during sleep, the eyes are replenished with essential nutrients. Lack of sleep may result in persistent eye irritation. Prevention of eye fatigue usually eye fatigue can be prevented or reduced by making simple changes in your work habits or environment. Make changes to your computer screen, such as: place the screen 20-26 inches away from your eyes and a little below eye level. Regularly clean off dust and fingerprints from the screen. Smudges on the screen can reduce contrast and increase problems with glare and reflections. Choose screens that tilt and swivel. Consider using a glare filter over your screen. Make changes to your work environment, such as: change lighting to reduce glare and harsh reflections. Use an adjustable chair. Place a document holder next to your computer screen. Make changes to your work habits, such as: try the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look away about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. Post a note that says" blink" on the computer as a reminder. Take regular breaks from computer work. Take care of your eyes with these steps: apply a washcloth soaked in warm water to tired, dry eyes (with eyes closed). Use artificial tears to refresh your eyes when they feel dry. To help prevent dry eyes while working indoors, use an air cleaner to filter dust and a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Management: give sufficient rest to your eyes with proper sleep. Keep yourself hydrated with intake of 10-12 glasses of water in a day. Eat healthy especially vitamin a rich food (green vegetables, carrots, yellow fruits and vegetables) and avoid junk food. Hold tap water in your flexed palm, dip your one eye closer to the water level, shut and open your eyelids often. Do the same with your other eye. Repeat this whole process 1-2 times more in a day. Give your eyes proper rest. Can keep slices of cucumber or potato or used tea bags over the closed eyes for sometime. Medication: instill 2 drops of euphrasia eye drops in each eye twice daily.

Hello lybrate user. Ya definitely having headache or not able to bear sunlight may be suggestive of eye related problems, but the rest other signs do not go with it. At your age having lack of concentration, forgetting things, lack of concentration, constant tiredness with having headache or head heaviness may be signs of depression. You need to get evaluated for the same by a psychiatrist and if there are other signs too like persistent pervasive low mood and lack of interest, you may be started on anti-depressants with expecting good amount of improvement in a month of start of medications. Hoping the best for you. Take care.

My eyes strains a lot while using phone. Is this a problem or excessive usage of phone?

FPRS, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Pune
My eyes strains a lot while using phone. Is this a problem or excessive usage of phone?
Here are the instructions for mobile phone use: 1. Blink, blink and blink again. Blinking often (and for more than a second) keeps your eyes moist and reduces dryness and irritation. We tend blink about a third less than we normally would when we stare at our smartphone screens, which starves our poor peepers of protective tears. Keep your eyes wet by blinking about 10 times every 20 minutes or so and you should be good to go. 2. Minimize glare. Unless you have a smartphone equipped with anti-glare Corning Gorilla Glass or use a matte screen protector film, you’re probably coping with a fair amount of annoying reflective glare. 3. Take breaks. Follow 20-20-20 rule. The concept is to take a break from looking at your screen every 20 minutes for 20 seconds while looking at something 20 feet away. Doing so relaxes your eye muscles 4. Adjust your brightness. Having your screen too bright or too dark stresses your eyes out and can cause problems maintaining focus. To eliminate either issue in about a matter of seconds, simply go into your smartphone settings and adjust your screen brightness so it’s about the same as the light level in the environment around you 5. Tweak your text size and contrast. Adjusting your smartphone text contrast and size also provides a little much-needed relief. 6. Keep a clean screen. Routinely wipe down your smartphone screen with a dry (not wet!) cleaning cloth to remove distracting dust, grime, smudges and fingerprints. 7. Hold your smartphone farther away. Try holding yours at least 16 to 18 inches away from your eyes to give your eyes a break.
