My eyes are itching from 5 days what should I do to prevent this itching in my eyes?
Is your itching very severe? are you on the laptop entire day? for starters, please wash your eyes every time you come home from outside coz the itching/ allergy is often due to the dust and pollutants which settle in the eye, which is not washed away. Alternatively use some antiallergic eyedrops.

Dear, get your refraction done and wear spectacles eat green veggies. Carrots. Strain less your eyes. Relax your eyes in between work. Blink regularily if working for long time on computer. Lower the brightness of your screen. Work under adequately illuminated conditions. If needed wear corrective spectacles. These r few things you can take care of. You can always go for contact lenses after satisfyin few criteria lik no allergic, infective or corneal conditions of eye. Similarly, few criteria must be fulfilled for you to undergo lasik surgery. Which are amount and type of refractive error, condition of the cornea, and stability of your refractive error. You must visit an ophthalmogist for detailed check up to satisfy these criteria after which you can undergo lasik surgery or contact lenses.

My eyes are paining since a few days , will it be due to the computer screen , dust in the environment.

My eyes are paining since a few days , will it be due to the computer screen , dust in the environment.
Hi, exposure to bright light or straining to see in dim light can also cause eye fatigue. One of the most common causes of eye fatigue is staring for long periods at digital devices such as: computer screens smartphones video games during sleep, the eyes are replenished with essential nutrients. Lack of sleep may result in persistent eye irritation. Prevention of eye fatigue usually eye fatigue can be prevented or reduced by making simple changes in your work habits or environment. Make changes to your computer screen, such as: place the screen 20-26 inches away from your eyes and a little below eye level. Regularly clean off dust and fingerprints from the screen. Smudges on the screen can reduce contrast and increase problems with glare and reflections. Choose screens that tilt and swivel. Consider using a glare filter over your screen. Make changes to your work environment, such as: change lighting to reduce glare and harsh reflections. Use an adjustable chair. Place a document holder next to your computer screen. Make changes to your work habits, such as: try the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look away about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. Post a note that says" blink" on the computer as a reminder. Take regular breaks from computer work. Take care of your eyes with these steps: apply a washcloth soaked in warm water to tired, dry eyes (with eyes closed). Use artificial tears to refresh your eyes when they feel dry. To help prevent dry eyes while working indoors, use an air cleaner to filter dust and a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Management: give sufficient rest to your eyes with proper sleep. Keep yourself hydrated with intake of 10-12 glasses of water in a day. Eat healthy especially vitamin a rich food (green vegetables, carrots, yellow fruits and vegetables) and avoid junk food. Hold tap water in your flexed palm, dip your one eye closer to the water level, shut and open your eyelids often. Do the same with your other eye. Repeat this whole process 1-2 times more in a day. Give your eyes proper rest. Can keep slices of cucumber or potato or used tea bags over the closed eyes for sometime. Medication: instill 2 drops of euphrasia eye drops in each eye twice daily.

There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 22 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

Hello. If the condition that you described has occurred over a span of weeks/ months, it would be more likely to be due to a condition known as pterygium or pingecuela of the conjunctiva. Pterygium/ pingecuela is characterized by a yellowish small elevated lesion that occurs just adjacent to the cornea. It usually occurs due to excessive exposure to sunlight and environmental dust. It occurs more commonly in people having a lot of field work. It is usually a harmless condition which requires no intervention unless there is excessive redness, burning or pain associated with it. If the symptoms of burning and redness do occur then it would be a good idea to use lubricant eye drops along with an antihistamine eye drops as well. This would be best done under the supervision of an eye specialist after getting the eyes checked up in person. Yellow eyes of recent onset (few days), could be due to a condition of the liver known as jaundice. In such a case, it would be associated with fever and abdominal pain along with yellowing of the skin of the whole body. It would be a good idea to get a complete body check up by a physician. It might require liver function tests to be done.. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care-regards.

Most of IT professionals don't know how to work on computer for long time without giving any trouble to your eyes, this is main reason why most of the computer professional suffer from headache & pain in eye .Dryness (computer Vision syndrome )is root cause of all the problems .Number of blinking drastically goes down while working on computer from around 24 per minute to around 8 per minute leading to severe dryness causing all the problems. Every computer professional should look away from screen every 10 minute &should take rest for 10 minute after every two hours. One should try to have normal blinking while working on computer & lubricating eye drops (Refresh liquigel) 4-5 times regularly ,with regards.

This condition is called Eye strain, or asthenopia, in which the eyes get tired from excessive or intense use. It can be annoying, but it tends to disappear with rest. Although it’s not often a serious condition, eye strain could be a symptom of an underlying problem. Eye strain is known to cause fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and headaches-----------If you work on a computeror Mobile, taking eye breaks for five minutes every hour can lessen the strain on your eyes. Simply closing your eyes for a few moments can also do wonders. Try standing up, moving around, or taking a short walk to help regain concentration. Regular eye exercises that involve focusing on different distances can help prevent future straining. Blink often. Blinking refreshes and replenishes your eyes naturally. If you are having trouble with blinking due to the dryness of your eyes, try using Homoeopathic CINELUBE EYEDROPS (HAPDCO) 3 times daily.

I have nearsightedness problems how can I minimize this problem please help me sir.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
I have nearsightedness problems how can I minimize this problem please help me sir.
Near sighted-ness is also known as myopia. There are various techniques for tackling this problem. (1) glasses: you could get the refractive power of the eye checked and get glasses made for the same. (2) contact lenses: these are alternatives to glasses. Provided you are capable of maintaining proper eye hygiene and contact lens cleanliness, there should be no harm with using contact lenses. (3) refractive surgery: lasik, prk, etc are various techniques by which myopia can be permanently rectified. There are certain basic criteria that most patients need to fulfill before they can safely undergo refractive surgery. To enumerate, they are: (1) stability of refraction: the power of the eyes should have become stable for a period of 1.5 years minimum without any change. (2) curvature of the cornea should be tested by a technique which is known as topography. (3) thickness of the cornea should be measured by a test known as pachymetry. The minimum thickness required is 550 microns. (4) dilated retina evaluation: this is one of the most important tests that should be performed by a trained retina specialist. This test helps in detection of any offensive lesion on the central or peripheral retina. In case of any retinal abnormality, these should be treated before undergoing the surgery for number reduction. (5) there should be no pre-existent corneal abnormality. (example: corneal scar, opacity, defect, etc.) another important suggestion is that whenever you go for the assessment (the above mentioned tests), you should discontinue the use of contact lenses at least 4 weeks prior to the assessment. The reason for this being that use of contact lens temporarily alters the contour of the cornea. It takes around 3-4 weeks for the restoration of the original corneal contour after removal of the contact lens. Another important point is that you, as a patient, should be compliant to put post operative medication in your eyes for at least 2 months. There is bound to be some discomfort, watering, foreign body sensation, pain after the surgery in most cases-you should be ready to tolerate that. A leave from work for 7-10 days after the surgery should be generally sufficient. In case you have any other queries, feel free to contact me. Hope my suggestions help you, take care, regards.

Hello, Heredity plays a major role in deciding the colour of sclera where nothing can be done. But, if the yellow scleras are there for the past few days or months then invertion is required. Diseases of the liver, including hepatitis and cirrhosis, can turn the scleras yellow. So, get your Liver Function test done to rule out these. Get back to me with the reports.

Lasik surgery is an option as you are above 18 years of age and your glass power should have stabilized by now. Lasik is laser assisted in situ keratomilieusis. It is a simple laser treatment in which we change the shape of the cornea to incorporate the glass power inside the eye after which you will not have to wear glasses. It is a painless procedure day care procedure. There is zero risk with 100% success rate. Night driving and dryness are common to which you will get adjusted in due course of time. Eat well. Sleep well.

(3) dry-fruits: almonds, walnuts, apricots, dates. (4) cereals: oats, barley, millets. (5) drink a cup of green tea daily. (6) drink a glass of milk daily.
