Hello Doctor, I suddenly found that's my breasts are getting lump, but it is painful. Please help me.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, MRCS (Edinburgh), Fellowship In Breast Surgery, Fellowship In Onco-plastic Breast Surgery
Oncologist, Gurgaon
It is quite common to have breast pain and a a lumpy feeling in the breast between 25-35 years of age. This commonly occurs due to hormonal changes during the menstrual period. It is best that you get an ultrasound to rule out something serious. If the ultrasound is normal, there is nothing to worry.

Hi doc. Since 5 years (from 2011) I am diagnosed with fibroadenoma. I was OK as d size was just 1.8 mm but now it has started pain and d size has also increased to2. 7 mm I am really v much worried abt it, as I am gonna get married in may 17. Did many medication like Ayurveda homeo allopathy. But no result. I want to ask you that can I get married? Will it effect my conceiving rate. Will I have any problem in feeding. And suggest me some gud Dr. who can cure did. If I don't get it operated will it turn into malignant after marriage. Or is it gud to operate it bfre marriage. Pls pls help me out. God bless you.

M.H.C.T.C
Oncologist, Pune
Hi, Lybrate,I differ as the Fibroadenoma is not a normal condition as opined by My professional colleague. Its a disease condition and its abnormal state. But by its size and progress over last 5 yrs. Its not harmful for your marriage and for you getting children after the marriage, as apprehended by you. As you are getting married in May, 2017,I would suggest you to go ahead with your marriage and plan the detailed treatment with Me thereafter. This is because no chance of malignant changes if non-operated, as more investigations would be required to rule out these complications, but this is not required in your case. If still you want to consult with Me, book appoinment through Lybrate web asap. There is no hurry to operate as its not increasing in size and as there is no immediate chance of getting .The pain complained by you could be treated with local doctors. If not please fix appointment with Me ASAP-if pain is not relieved. I would suggest you to consult Me by prior appointment -for Sms Chat/ and consults through Lybrate.

I am 29 years female. I got married 4 years back. I got conceived two times but all the two were aborted as per doctors advice due to miscarriage. While trying to find out the reasons for miscarriage I have approached 6 hospitals (in 3 years) but I couldn't get the reasons for the same even after the tests like Thyroid, Chromosome test (for me and my husband), Abdomen Scan etc. After the tests doctors said my health is OK. In one hospital doctor doubted that my uterus may be septate uterus. Kindly confirm, Whether septate uterus is confirmed in scanning, if Septate confirmed what is the treatment steps.

Causes of miscarriage include: Infection. Medical conditions in the mother, such as diabetes or thyroid disease. Hormone problems. Immune system responses. Physical problems in the mother. Uterine abnormalities. Most of the time, a specific cause for miscarriage cannot be identified, though up to 70 percent of first-trimester miscarriages, and 20 percent of second-trimester miscarriages, are caused by chromosomal anomalies. Other possible causes could include infection or exposure to environmental or industrial toxins. Most miscarriages happen when the unborn baby has fatal genetic problems. Usually, these problems are unrelated to the mother.A woman has a higher risk of miscarriage if she: Is over age 35 Has certain diseases, such as diabetes or thyroid problems Has had three or more miscarriages. Cervical Insufficiency A miscarriage sometimes happens because there is a weakness of the cervix, called an incompetent cervix, which cannot hold the pregnancy. A miscarriage from an incompetent cervix usually occurs in the second trimester. A unicornuate uterus is a type of congenital uterine abnormality (müllerian duct abnormality). It is smaller than a typical uterus (often about half the normal size and usually has only one functioning fallopian tube (rather than two).No surgical intervention is required unless endometrial tissue in a rudimentary horn results in pain or a pelvic mass or unless an incompetent cervix is suspected during pregnancy. A rudimentary horn may be excised to treat endometriosis and prevent an ectopic pregnancy. A bicornuate uterus is associated with increased adverse reproductive outcomes, such as: Recurrent pregnancy loss. Preterm birth: The rate of preterm delivery is 15 to 25%. A pregnancy may not reach full term in a bicornuate uterus when the baby begins to grow in either of the uterine horns. If it is treated surgically, a reconstruction will be done via laparoscopic surgery. A septate uterus is usually treated through a hysteroscopic surgery. While a bicornuate uterus is not usually considered a factor in recurrent miscarriages, a septate uterus is known to increase miscarriage risks

Cure Obesity with Ayurveda

A drastic change in the life style habits and this modern world people face many health issues in their daily life. Obesity is one of the major health issues that most people are affected with.

Obesity or being overweight is a condition characterized by excessive storage of fat in the body. When the body's calorie intake exceeds the amount of calories burned, it leads to the storage of excess calories in the form of body fat. Increased body fat puts a person at risk for many critical conditions such as heart disease, liver damage, diabetes, arthritis and kidney problems.

The most common cause of obesity is lack of physical activity, intake of excessive carbohydrates, fatty and junk food items. It might be even due to pathological or hereditary cause. Ayurveda gives many natural home remedy measures to reduces the body weight and get rid of obesity.

Ayurvedic View

In Ayurveda, obesity is known as Medarog, which is caused by the aggravation of Kapha. Kapha is an Ayurvedic humor which is dense, heavy, slow, sticky, wet and cold in nature. It governs all structure and lubrication in the mind and body apart from controlling weight and formation of all the seven tissues - nutritive fluids, blood, fat, muscles, bones, marrow and reproductive tissues.

The Ayurvedic line of treatment for obesity begins with the pacification of Kapha Dosha. This can be done by eliminating Kapha-aggravating foods from the diet. Next, the treatment also focuses on cleansing of the Medovahi channels through cleansing herbs so that excess weight can be reduced.

Ginger (Zingiber Officinale), Salacia Reticulata (Kotahla Himbutu),Garcina cambogia (Vrikshamla), Commiphora Mukul Resin (Guggul) and Nigella Sativa are the commonly used Ayurvedic medicines to cure obesity.

Natural Ayurvedic home remedies for obesity

  1. Lemon juice and honey: The best and simple way to reduces weight is drinking one cup of warm water mixed with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey in empty stomach.
  2. Triphala powder: Mixing two teaspoon of triphala powders a natural herb easily available at homes with 500ml of water and allow it to boil for 5mins. Strain the liquid and drink it regularly to burn the excessive fat stored in the body.
  3. Make cabbage as your best friend: Take one cup of cabbage daily. Cabbage contains tartaric acid and this helps to convert the sugar and other carbohydrates into fat.
  4. Vyaayaama: Simple exercises are also much essential to be done alone with other remedial measures to reduce the body weight
  5. Avoid Sugar: Avoid white sugar and starch from diet. Prefer brown rice and other cereals in the diet.
  6. Control your excessive eating habit: excessive eating of junk and fast foods is the most important cause of obesity. This should be avoided and learn to eat healthy and right food at regular interval. Have only three meals per day. Diet controlling does not mean fasting so it is best advised to have small meal at regular interval.
  7. Herbs: Herbs like Bibhitaka (Terminalia belericia), amla (Emblica officinalis), Guggul , Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) are effective for reducing the body weight.

There are many other naturally occurring items that feature prominently in Ayurvedic treatment for obesity. The key aspect to understand here is that Ayurveda stresses on the natural and easy ways in which one can lose weight without having to undergo mental or physical stress and strain.

• Some pain, cramping, less discharge and discomfort during menstrual periods are normal, some 4-5 days irregularity is also normal. However, excessive pain, very less discharge or short interval in menses etc. are hindrances in day today working, the tolerance of pain is also depends on body and mind nature.
