If menses r irregular since long then it should be investigated properly. Ultrasound, fsh, lh, tsh and prolactin blood tests should be done asap to find out the exact cause for irregular menses. Your weight is normal so you r unlikely to be suffering from pcod, which can be confirmed on ultrasound.

I am a 21 year old female and am pregnant for about 2 months or less. I recently ate an I-pill and waited for more than a week, but I haven't had any bleeding as such. Instead I ended up vomiting after a week. Each time, I get the fragrance of something, I feel like vomiting. Yesterday, I tested positive for pregnancy. The I-pill had not worked. So, I checked out a medication online and bought it as well. The medicine is "Mifegest" and it is a kit of 5 tablets. I read the procedure on how to go about the medication. The medication has drawbacks like - if the pills don't work, then I would have a surgery to go about. What should I do? I am very much confused.

Lack of knowledge can land up in mess firstly you are 8 weeks pregnant and you took I pill. I pill is supposed to be taken within 72 hours of intercourse. So.you did a blunder secondly now you have taken MTP kit. Its sad pharmacist give it without prescription. You can have it but please as a friend I would suggest you to be examined properly by a gynaecologist. Don worry. Half knowledge is very dangerous .google is not everything.

Hello. The most effective and natural remedy for keeping your body and in your case hand temperature normal is" tulsi" there are 2 kinds of tulsi leaves we come across one is" ram tulsi" (which is lighter in shade) and the other one is" shyam tulsi" (which is darker in shade) you have to consume 10-15 leaves of" shyam tulsi" which means the leaves with darker shade. Take 10 to 15 leaves of shyam tulsi and grind it into a paste. Boil this paste in 200 ml of water until the water comes down to the level of 100 ml. Consume this water chewing the leave remains daily in 3 installments without break. I guarantee you that you will feel better after some days. Besides natural remedies doesn't even have any side effects along with them. Thanks.

6 Advantages of Radiology

Radiology is a specialized branch of science concerned with the treatment and diagnosis of diseases through high energy radiation or X-rays. Interventional radiology also known as vascular radiology is a subspecialty of radiology. Interventional radiology involves the use of a variety of techniques for diagnosing or treating a particular disease. Some of these techniques are Ultrasound, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and X-ray among the others.

Radiology has several advantages. Six prime advantages of Radiology are mentioned below:

1. Radiology and Interventional radiology are sometimes completely non-invasive or less invasive methods of diagnosis and treatment. These diagnostic and treatment procedures involve the use of digital imaging or photographic images and needle insertion.

2. Radiology is a less expensive method of treatment as compared to other surgical or medicinal treatment procedures.

3. Blood vessel diseases like narrowing of arteries, which obstructs smooth flow of the blood, hemorrhage, blood clots and vein blockage can be easily treated with the help of radiology.

4. Radiology can effectively treat benign or malignant tumors. It destroys the tumor in situ (original position of growth) and also counters tumors that has spread to other parts of the body due to metastasis( the process through which cancer cells spread from its original position to the other organs of the body).

5. The procedure of radiology can also be used for inserting feeding tube into a patient's body or for the purpose of draining out fluids from the abdominal region or chest.

6. Radiology is considered to be a popular treatment for treating different stone diseases such as kidney stones or gallstones.

All radiological procedures are conducted by or under the supervision of experienced specialists known as Radiologists.

Why is having sex very painful for some people?

MS, MBBS

Why does it hurt during sex?

Painful intercourse can occur for a number of reasons - ranging from structural problems to psychological concerns. Women experience painful intercourse at least once in their entire lifetime. The medical term for painful intercourse is dyspareunia. It is a persistent or recurrent genital pain that occurs just before, during or after intercourse. Physical causes of painful intercourse differ, depending on whether the pain occurs at entry or with deep thrusting. Also, certain emotional factors can also be probable causes of painful sex.

Entry pain
Pain during penetration may be associated with a range of factors:

1. Insufficient lubrication
Insufficient lubrication is caused by a drop in estrogen levels after menopause, after childbirth or during breastfeeding. Certain medications inhibit desire or arousal, decreasing lubrication and making sex painful. These include antidepressants, high blood pressure medications, sedatives and certain birth control pills.

2. Injury, trauma or irritation
This can be an injury from an accident, pelvic surgery, female circumcision or cut made during childbirth.

3. Infection or skin disorder
Infection in the genital area or urinary tract can cause painful intercourse. Eczema or other skin problems in the genital area can also cause problems.

Deep pain
1. Certain illness and condition
These include endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, uterine prolapse, retroverted uterus, cystitis, hemorrhoids and ovarian cysts.

2. Surgeries or medical treatment
Scarring from pelvic surgery can sometimes cause painful intercourse. Medical treatments for cancer, like radiation and a chemotherapy, can cause changes that make sex painful.

Emotional factors

1. Psychological problems
Anxiety, depression, concerns about physical appearance, fear of intimacy can contribute to a low level of arousal, resulting in discomfort or pain during sexual activity.

2. Stress and tension
You may have a million things to worry about in a day, but taking that tension to bed with you can lead to painful sex. Your pelvic floor muscle tightens in response to stress in your life. This can contribute to pain during intercourse.

3. History of sexual abuse
If you've had a history of some form of sexual abuse or are scared of sex, pain during intercourse because of your past experience(s) may be a possible cause for an unpleasant sexual experience in the present.

Stop Following These 8 Health Rules

Most of us are health conscious and know health related do’s and don’ts like the back of our palms. However, there are certain 'health facts' that are over hyped and do not hold true for everybody.

Here debunking 8 popular health myths-

1) Watch your portions: This rule is the source of major eating disorders. The moment we curb or restrict the food we're eating, we also stop agreeing with our hunger levels. We ignore the body’s demand. Instead of controlling your portion size, try asking 'Am I full? Am I still hungry?'

2) Exercise all the time: Exercise is certainly good. It helps in relieving the stress. However, vigorous exercise when you have cold or are feeling unwell may have a damaging effect. Always try to ask yourself, "Am I feeling better after doing exercise?" If the answer is "yes", keep at it. If you feel otherwise take a break.

3) Minimise your caffeine intake: Although excess of coffee can be bad, it is not really a nutritional criminal. Small doses of caffeine stimulate mental, memory and physical faculties. Regular coffee consumption may reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease as well as some cancers. The coffee bean is also a rich source of antioxidants.

4) Drink lots and lots of water: Excessive water intake has a medical name, 'polydipsia', and it can be dangerous. Anywhere above 4 litres a day, (unless you are an athele) can disturb body’s electrolyte balance, especially potassium. The kidneys can also get damaged if they are filtering excessive amounts of fluid.

5) Stay away from alcohol: There is no denying the health and social perils of excess alcohol. However, moderated drinking has been its benefits. It increases HDL levels i.e. the good cholesterol, as well as decreases the risk of heart disease, diabetes and gall bladder disease. Particularly appreciable is red wine for it is a fine antioxidant.

6) Skip carbs to stay slim: Fad diets can be of temporary help. Carbohydrates or carbs are important for the body’s overall wear and tear. Carbs must not be completely shunned for they give energy.

7) Eat low-calorie to be healthy: When you buy food stuffs that’s labeled 'Low Cal' you're in fact buying junk. Our bodies need the entire food that we're eating in order to digest it and to retain its nutrients properly. If we can't stomach the real product, why not make our own, healthier version, and leave out all of the added sugars and heavy creams?

8) Avoid fat: When we substitute the real deal with toxic fillers in order to create a "fat-free" product, our body isn't getting the nutrition or satiation it's craving, so we keep eating. Don't skimp out or cheat yourself on healthy fats: Go for it!

You cannot predict like this I am afraid. The best thing is to ask when you get your next scan done after 20 weeks. But mind you there is a margin of error of upto 25% based on scan assessments.

Dear lybrate-user The best time to do your Urine pregnancy test is when you miss your cycle or 14 days after sex, which ever is later. Doing the test earlier might give false negatives. However, Doing a blood pregnancy test (Bhcg) can give better results 4 days before missing the cycle. Your thyroid seems to be under control. Good luck:)

Health Feeds Of Flax Seeds

Flax Seeds for Cancer

Flax seed benefits have been proven time and time again and even including fighting breast, prostate, ovarian and colon cancer.

A study published in the Journal of Clinical Cancer Research discovered that consuming flax seeds may decrease the risk of breast cancer. The three lignans found in flaxseeds can be converted by intestinal bacteria into enterolactone and enterodiol which naturally balance hormones which may be the reason flax seeds reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Digestive Health.

You take 1-3 tbsp of flax seed oil with 8 oz of carrot juice to help naturally relieve constipation.

Flax is also very high in soluble and insoluble fiber which can also improve digestive health and is one of the highest magnesium foods in the world.

Flaxseeds are Gluten-Free.

Using flax is a great way to naturally replace gluten-containing grains which are inflammatory where flax is anti-inflammatory. So, flax seeds are great for those who have Celiac disease or have a gluten-sensitivity. They may also be a good alternative to omega-3 fats in fish for people with a seafood allergy.

Lower Cholesterol.

The soluble fiber content of flax seeds traps fat and cholesterol in the digestive system so that it unable to be absorbed. Soluble fiber also traps bile, which is made from cholesterol in the gallbladder.

The bile is then excreted through the digestive system, forcing the body to make more, using up excess cholesterol in the blood and lowering cholesterol overall.
