Sir, I am 21 years old but my lungs and heart pain many times a day. I smoke and I don't know how to quit it.
Everyone by now know about ill effects of smoke or pollution which is worse than cigarette smoke, we are exposed and we cannot escape the bad effects while living in Delhi. Why do you want to increase your risk to heart and lungs both ,as low oxygen levels in the air can trigger a heart attack. Give it up through your will power only.

We shouldn't neglect Vitamin D deficiency,Why?

We all live with the preconceived notion that India, being a tropical country will never face vitamin D deficiencies. But if you just take a look around you, you'll find that most of your friends are suffering from ailments like calcium deficiencies, bone problems, back aches, etc. Here we discuss why Indians should not ignore vitamin D deficiencies.

India is located between 8.4 and 37.6 degrees N latitude, with a majority of us living in regions that receive ample sunlight throughout the year. Historically, we have obtained most of our vitamin D through adequate sun exposure. However, the modern Indian spends a considerable amount of time indoors. Many of us have a preference for traditional clothing, which covers a major portion of our body. Others factors that come into play are the rising pollution levels and darker skin pigmentation. All of these factors add up to the fact that we Indians face a growing trend of reduced sun exposure. As we are all aware, inadequate sun exposure results in reduced vitamin D synthesis and ultimately, poor vitamin D status, if not compensated by dietary intake.

Surprisingly, dietary vitamin D intake is significantly low in India, mainly due to low consumption of vitamin D-rich foods coupled with an absence of fortification and low use of food supplements. As a result, India has a poor vitamin D status overall.

Experts say that vitamin D deficiency is pandemic, yet it is the most under-diagnosed and under-treated nutritional deficiency in the world. India is no different, with a prevalence of 70 to 100 percent. Published literature specific to India confirms the need to fortify food staples with vitamin D, stimulate public health policies for vitamin D supplementation and outline dietary guidelines tailored to the Indian diet.

Poor vitamin D levels result in increased incidences of bone disorders including osteoporosis, osteomalacia in adults,  rickets and other bone deformities in children. Without joint efforts, there may be a dramatic increase in the number of bone disorders, and other serious diseases may lie ahead.

One need not be surprised that the world's second most populous country, with a population of over 1.2 billion has around 500 million vegetarians. Vegetarianism is very much a mainstream way of life, with 42 percent of Indian households eschewing meat, fish and eggs.

Vegetarianism is a popular practice in India and it originates from ethical and religious factors; this practice of abstaining from the consumption of animals is often out of support for animal rights. Vegetarianism partially came about due to economic reasons, too, since animal foods were comparatively expensive. As per reliable sources, foods that provide vitamin D include fatty fish like tuna, mackerel, and salmon, cod liver oil and percomorph liver oil, beef liver, cheese and egg yolks. A majority of the above mentioned foods are not a part of the regular diets of many non-vegetarians in India.

It is now proven that without a highly determined national effort to screen for vitamin D status to implement policies or guidelines for vitamin D fortification and supplementation and to re-assess recommended dietary intake guidelines, there will be a dramatic increase in the number of bone disorders and other diseases across the nation.

If you have type1 diabetes, then you need to take insulin life long. However if you are fed up of insulin injections then you could go for an insulin pump. It is an expensive propositionas the device would cost approx 2 lacs & the running cost for the same would come to 5000 to 7000 rs. Every month. If you are fine with it then it will help you.

Too much sweating is my problem. The following activities and things make me sweat abnormally. 1. Being questioned, being watched 2. Light physical work or play 3. When I eat spicy and hot foods (here running nose join hands with sweat to make me feel awkward) 4. In a position to complete a task in little time and under supervision and expectation 5. Right after bathing if no air circulation. Head, forehead, behind ears, neck sweats more. I experience this for past 4-5 years only, before that I was lean and indulged in more physical activities. So I suspect my overweight, inferior feel, anxiety causes it. What is my condition and how to resolve it?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi, overweight people sweat more profusely than normal-weight individuals because fat acts as an insulator that raises core temperature. Some things are in your control when it comes to sweating. If you're a coffee drinker, caffeine can increase perspiration, so if you're concerned, try cutting out that cup of joe. Not all excessive sweating is weight-related. But even if your sweating has another cause, getting to a healthy weight is a good idea. Other causes are: a hot and humid environment and exercise are the most obvious causes of sweating. Additional factors that contribute to excessive sweating include alcohol, caffeine, medications and spicy foods. Conditions such as fever, menopause, overactive thyroid, low blood sugar and cancer can lead to excessive sweating. Emotional triggers such as stress, anxiety, anger, fear and embarrassment can contribute to this condition. Diets that include spicy food also might have lots of calories and fat, contributing to both extra pounds and excessive sweating. Being overweight often leads to low self-esteem and lack of confidence in social situations, which can lead to higher stress levels and more sweating. Losing weight can help correct the emotional affects and higher sweat levels. Don't assume your excessive sweating is attributable solely to excess weight. Sweating can be a sign of medical problem, so get yourself thoroughly examined by a doctor with required investigations to be done.

Symptoms of cholera infection may include: Diarrhea. Cholera-related diarrhea comes on suddenly and may quickly cause dangerous fluid loss — as much as a quart (about 1 liter) an hour. Nausea and vomiting. Occurring especially in the early stages of cholera, vomiting may persist for hours at a time. Dehydration. Drink and use safe water Wash your hands often with soap and safe water Use latrines or bury your feces (poop); do not defecate in any body of water. Cook food well (especially seafood), keep it covered, eat it hot, and peel fruits and vegetables.

Hi, Your body is doing what it was made to do. Wet dreams are nothing to feel guilty about, so don't beat yourself up over something that's a perfectly normal function of your body. Home remedies for nightfall: -Individuals suffering from the condition can also opt to drink a glass of fresh bottle gourd juice every day, preferably at night in order to prevent nightfall. -Grind some fenugreek leaves or seeds and extract the juice. Add some water to the juice (one cup to 2 tbsp.). Add a few drops of honey for taste as well. Drink the juice before bed time every day to curb nightfall effectively. -Drinking a glass of warm almond milk at night before going to bed can relax the mind and body, and literally lull you to sleep and is one of the best known home remedies for recurrent wet dreams. Management: -Sleep on your back. -Wear loose fitting clothes . -Avoid spicy foods and stimulants (coffee and other substances that contain caffeine, especially late at night). -It'll be much easier to control your sexual urges if you avoid pornography, sexual programming on television, and other media. Fill your time with enriching, fulfilling activities and avoid dwelling on thoughts of sex. -Try practicing yoga. -Develop a healthy relationship with sex. If you're sexually active, communicate with your partner to maintain a healthy and open sexual relationship that keeps you both fulfilled. In some cases, big changes or stressful periods reportedly produce more wet dreams than at other more relaxed periods of leisure. Make sure you get enough sleep and exercise, and take time off from your busy schedule to relax and do things that you enjoy. Pick up new hobbies to fill your free time with fun activities and relax when you get the chance to relax. Medication: Phosphoric Acid 30/ thrice daily for 4 weeks. For premature ejaculation: Premature ejaculation occurs when a man experiences orgasm and expels semen soon after sexual activity and with minimal penile stimulation. Most cases of premature ejaculation do not have a clear cause. With sexual experience and age, men often learn to delay orgasm. Premature ejaculation may occur with a new partner. It may happen only in certain sexual situations or if it has been a long time since the last ejaculation. Psychological factors such as anxiety, guilt, or depression can also cause it. In some cases, it may be related to a medical cause such as hormonal problems, injury, or a side effect of certain medicines. Men with premature ejaculation often report emotional and relationship distress. Medication: You don’t need to take male enhancement pills with never-before heard ingredients. Take homoeopathic medicine - Schwabe's Damiaplant/ thrice daily for 4 weeks. Management: Regular exercising keeps you fit and healthy, so don't forget to do it. Practice pranayam regularly for half an hour preferably in a garden early in the morning. Not to do these exercises within 4 hours after meals. One can have meals not within 15 minutes after finishing these exercises. These exercises are good for gaining and maintaining good health. Also, practice Pelvic floor exercise or Kegel excercise, consists of repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscles that form part of the pelvic floor. It makes the muscles of pelvis toned and strengthened! In order to locate your pelvic muscles try to stop and begin the flow of urine as using the bathroom. You can perform Kegel exercises with the empty bladder as exercising pelvic muscle with the full bladder might result in urinary tract infections.
