I am having chickenpox and since 5 days my one eye is red and it pains a little when I see suddenly to bright light. What it must be?

If associated with eye pain, redness and discharge, it is mostly acute conjunctivities, put topical eyedrops moxiflox and flur four times a day and tear substitute like genteal four times a day in d affected eye. It would be okay in 3 -4 days. Take care of eye hygiene that you yourself/other family members don't share the clothes and hankie of the affected eye to the normal eye else the normal eye wd also contract the infection. You can wash your eyes twice to thrice but not very frequently as it washes away the tear film which naturally contains imp antibacterial and anti infective elements: red eye has many causes. You have to see if it is associated with blurring of vision, pain, discharge and other complaints. But commonly its allergic or infective in origin ie allergic or infective conjunctivitis. Which has simple treatment protocol. But still its wise to see an ophthalmologist for a thorough slit lamp examination to rule out other differentials for acute red eye.

How Homeopathy Can Help With Eye Problems?

DM & S
Homeopath, Akola
How Homeopathy Can Help With Eye Problems?

While most of us complain of eye problems as pain or redness or itching or excessive tearing, there is more to it than what meets the eye! As with all diseases, the homeopath will try to unravel the problem in its deeper form. A detailed discussion to ask related symptoms happens, after which a diagnosis will be made. Treatment is then done accordingly which will not just get rid of the eye symptoms but also improve the overall health of the person.

Conditions like cataract and glaucoma need to be surgically corrected; however, others can be managed via homeopathic medicines effectively. The following are the top five homeopathic medicines described along with the symptoms in which they are used. A detailed discussion with your homeopath to arrive at the diagnosis should definitely precede use of these medications. Self-medication is not advised.

Mercurius - Mercurial preparations are used when the following symptoms are seen:

  1. Thickened, red eyelids that are worse at night
  2. Profuse, offensive-smelling discharge that causes burning
  3. Boils around the eyes with pus formation
  4. Floaters in the eyes
  5. Worsens with warmth and damp weather
  6. Syphilitic eye infections

Belladonna: One of the most widely used eye remedies in homeopathy; it is extremely useful in the following situations

  1. Ophthalmic conditions with severe inflammation, dryness,
  2. Injected eyes with iritis or retinitis
  3. Fear of light (photophobia)
  4. Eyes affected due to excessive light or poor light
  5. Retinal hemorrhage conditions
  6. Sudden, acute onset of these symptoms
  7. Great intolerance to light

Euphrasia and Allium cepa: This is used as a combo, with both used in similar situation but with contradicting symptoms. The person has symptoms similar to hay fever or cold.
While euphrasia is used where there is a bland nasal discharge and burning tears, allium is used when there is a strong burning sensation with nasal discharge. Some doctors even try one, and if it is not effective, they prescribe the other one. Other conditions where Euphrasia and Allium cepa are used include:

  1. Watery eyes that blink frequently
  2. Acute catarrhal conjunctivitis
  3. Bland and watery coryza
  4. Burning of the eyes with corrosion of the margins
  5. Opaque, blistering cornea with thick discharge
  6. Eye swelling improves when in open air, worsens in the evening and with light

Arsenica - This common homeopathy medicine is used in the following situations:

  1. Sharp eye pain caused by day light
  2. Closing eyes produces pain in the eyes
  3. Running of letters when trying to read
  4. Affected tear ducts
  5. Cataracts in office goes
  6. Worsened during new moon and cold weather, improved with warmth.

These are some common homeopathy medicines, but again, as noted above, self-medication should be avoided. Any of these should be used only if prescribed by a homeopath.

My uncle of age 57 years, height is 5'8" and weight is 156 kg, having diabetes from last 7 years on regular medicine. But now he is feeling blurring in vision, did not feel any warm and cold in his foot. In night frequent urination also. How we can manage this problem, or we should go to the clinic regarding this.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
My uncle of age 57 years, height is 5'8" and weight is 156 kg, having diabetes from last 7 years on regular medicine....
Mr. Lybrate-user, your uncle has very morbid obesity with 52.34 kg/m2 bmi. This one of the major reasons for diabetes being not in control. Secondly if he has developed any problem with vision, a retinal check up has to be done immediately, because severe hyperglycemia can lead to damage to retina. Loss of sensation in feet is also a problem due to diabetic neuropathy. If he can afford it is better if bariatric surgery is done, which will help in reducing weight, will also help in controlling diabetes. Things are serious do not waste time, get the eyes checked urgently.

What should I do to overcome on it.
Plzz tell me any type of medicine if you want to say.
Most common cause is having a spectacles power. Just get it checked with nearest eye care specialist. If glass power is there, you will need to wear it. There are no natural medicines available for removal of spectacles.

Hello, Bloodshot eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: Eye dryness Too much sun exposure Dust or other particles in the eye Allergies Infection Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. Other causes of eye redness include Colds or allergies, Acute glaucoma, Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. Management: - Try to rest your eyes if redness is due to fatigue or eye strain. No other treatment is needed. - Wash your hands, hold clean water in your hand, keep your eyes closer to the water and dip the eyes by blinking the eyelids frequently in the held water in hand. Repeat it for 3-4 times again. - Avoid watching T.V. Working on computer or mobile, reading or frequently keep blinking your eyes to avoid dryness. Take frequent breaks in between. - In case there is itching, use a clean napkin or a tissue to wipe the tears and cleaning the eyelids gently. -Wear an UV-rays protected sunglasses while you are out in sun. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe’s Belladonna 30 and Euphrasia 30 - both thrice daily for 4 days. Use Euphrasia Eye drops twice daily. Revert back thereafter.

According to Ayurved you have increased Vata Dosha in your body especially in Amashaya (stomach). This season is varsha rutu (monsoon). In this season vata dosha increases by seasonal effect and hampers our digestive power. Your digestion power is already weak. You should take one glass of warm water early in the morning in empty stomach and one glass warm water at going to bed. Still problem persist you can contact me through lybrate.
