Hello- lack of interest in women symbolize two things, firstly fear about sex (due to lack of knowledge), secondly weak body strength (due to poor and faulty diet). The first problem can be solved by awareness- read sex related magazines, novels, watch videos, consult a gynecologist etc. The nutrition problem can be solved by- having proper indian diet, dairy products, herbal aphrodisiacs for females, etc. So talk to her about the issue, make transparency in your relation and thn move towards the solution.

STDs and Ways to Prevent Them

MD - General Medicine
Sexologist
Ask Free Question

STDs or sexually transmitted diseases refer to medical conditions that are contracted through engaging in sexual acts with a person who has an STD. These diseases spread though sexual activities that involve the penis, vagina, mouth or anus and occur commonly among those who are sexually active, especially with multiple partners.

STDs are usually severe conditions that require proper medical diagnosis and treatment. The kind of treatment method used depends on the nature of the condition.

The important thing to understand and know is that these STDs can be prevented.

3 ways of preventing STDS are:

  1. Practice safe sex: Use a latex condom every time you have sex and use a water-based lubricant. If your sex life involves intercourse, anal or vaginal, make up your mind to never have sex without a condom. If you or your partner is at a high risk of STDs, be consistent about barrier use during oral sex as well. Avoid sharing towels or underclothing to reduce the risk of an STD. Check the expiration date of the condom and make sure that it has an air bubble, which shows it has not been punctured. Dispose the condom properly and never reuse it.
  2. Don't drink alcohol or use drugs before sex: It's impossible to make responsible choices about your sex life under the influence of drugs or alcohol. When you are under the influence of any one of them, you are not in your mind and are likelier to choose a partner you wouldn't have picked otherwise. In that case, you may be at a higher risk of contracting an STD. Also, if you are on birth control pills and you vomit, the pills could lose some effectiveness.
  3. Precautions before sex: There are some things you can do to reduce your risk of contracting STDs before sex. This include limiting the number of sexual partners, talking honestly with partners about your sexual history, getting tested, along with your partner, before having sex, getting timely vaccination against HPV and HBV. If you have been diagnosed with an STD you should tell your partner about it and also explicitly ask your partner about the same.

Vaginal discharge is a whitish liquid that is produced in the uterus and is discharged by way of vagina. It is a normal process and it generally begins in a girl life when she is due to attain puberty or prior to menstruation. It is the nature’s way of keeping the vagina healthy and lubricated. Women experience vaginal discharge all through their lives though it reduces after they reach the menopausal stage. Normal vaginal discharge helps to keep the vagina clean and healthy. It does not have a bad odour or you can say that it has no smell at all and you may see the traces of discharge on your under garment. It is normal for vaginal discharge to increase under certain conditions like- A few days before menstruation During pregnancy During ovulation Hormonal treatment Sexual excitement Emotional stress When the secretion is more than normal and it creates irritation or emanates a bad odour, it indicates the presence of infection in the vaginal tract. This condition is commonly known as Leucorrhoea. Symptoms Of Leucorrhoea Constant discharge which is thick and sticky. • Irritation and itching in the genitals. • A strong and foul smell. • In acute infection the discharge make carry traces of blood and appears pinkish in tone. • Constant fatigue and discomfort with pain in calves. • Fever in case the infection is severe. You can treat leucorrhoea with natural ways at the onset of the problem and avoid harmful side effects of medicines. Natural Ways To Treat Leucorrhoea Amla Amla or Indian gooseberry helps to cure leucorrhoea. Dear lybrate user. Sex with condom do not cause prgnancy unless the condom breaks. It is only the second day. To determine pregnancy you need to wait for atleast 15 days. I suggest you both to read about ovulation cycle and menstruation periods and possible pregnancy cycle. I also suggest online sex education. Take care.

What are the Causes of post menopause bleeding and what should I do further? Please tell me.
Hello, there are few causes of post-menopausal bleeding: polyps: these are growths, usually noncancerous, that can develop in the uterus, on the cervix, or inside the cervical canal. They might cause bleeding. Endometrial atrophy (thinning of the endometrium): the endometrium, the tissue that lines the uterus, can become very thin after menopause because of lower estrogen levels. This may cause unexpected bleeding. Endometrial hyperplasia: in this condition, the lining of the uterus becomes thick, and bleeding may occur as a result. Obesity may be the cause of the problem. Some people with endometrial hyperplasia may have abnormal cells that can lead to endometrial cancer (cancer of the uterine lining). Endometrial cancer (uterine cancer): bleeding after menopause can be a sign of endometrial cancer. Other causes: hormone therapy, infection of the uterus or cervix, use of certain medications such as blood thinners, and other types of cancer can cause postmenopausal bleeding. You need to get transvaginal ultrasound, endometrial biopsy, d & c, etc. Done for proper diagnosis.

What is a Hysterectomy and Why Do You Need Uterus Surgery?

MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist
Ask Free Question
What is a hysterectomy and why do you need it?

A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the uterus, which is a muscular organ that carries and nourishes the baby during pregnancy. This surgery may be done to remove all or parts of the uterus; if there are any associated problems in fallopian tubes/ ovaries, they may also be removed simultaneously, during hysterectomy.

Types of hysterectomy procedures

Hysterectomy may be done through surgical cuts in the belly, known as abdominal hysterectomy or through vaginal hysterectomy where the uterus is removed through the vagina. A Majority of the hysterectomy surgeries are done with a laparoscope, due to the advantage of a faster recovery. Which procedure is chosen will depend on why the hysterectomy is being performed along with the medical history of the patient.

Depending on the reason for the surgery, removal of the whole uterus or just parts of it may be required. The types of surgery are:

- Partial hysterectomy is the removal of just the uterus while keeping the cervix in place

- Total hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus and cervix

- Radical hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, lymph nodes, cervix and the upper part of the vagina, and is generally only advised in cases of cancer

- Oophorectomy is the removal of ovaries and it may be done with a hysterectomy

Why is it needed?

There may be many reasons to have a hysterectomy and some of them include:

Heavy periods
These may be very uncomfortable and painful, sometimes caused by other diseases. A hysterectomy may be opted for when all other treatments have failed to treat this condition.

Fibroids
They are non-malignant tumors in the uterus that cause constant bleeding, anemia and pelvic pain along with bladder pressure. They may also cause very heavy periods.

Endometriosis
It is a condition where the tissue lining the uterus also grows on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or pelvic or abdominal organs. It causes severe abdominal pain, heavy periods and sometimes even infertility.

Uterine prolapse
When the tissues and ligaments supporting the uterus become weak, the uterus may slip down from its normal position and descend into the vagina. It can result in urinary incontinence (leakage of urine), pressure in the pelvis and problems in bowel movements.

Cancer of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tube, cervix or the lining of the uterus (endometrium)
A hysterectomy may be recommended for these types of cancers.

Water is the most important nutrient for every human being. Drinking water early morning should be taken before brushing your teeth as it improves your health and makes you energetic. Wake up early from bed do not wash your face and mouth. Sit comfortably and drink at least 4 glasses of water.

Then after some time, brush and clean your mouth. Avoid eating anything for 30-40 minutes. Initially, you will find difficulty in drinking 4 glasses so start from 1-2 glasses and then increase gradually by 4 glasses of water. If it is possible, you can drink some lukewarm water also.

Most of the people do not know the benefits of drinking water early morning so they start their day with coffee or tea which is not good for health. Drinking of water empty stomach is really beneficial as it eliminate toxins and all substances that our body does not need. It has several benefits like maintaining the elasticity and tonicity of the skin, prevent constipation, helps in maintaining blood pressure, headache, diarrhoea, vision problems, diabetes, TB, heart problems etc. There are several other benefits. So start drinking water and make yourself fit and healthy.
