Post period itching and slight sharp pain in clitoris. Is it due to friction from pads? I am 22 virgin.

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), PGDHHM, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Delhi
This may be due to pads, it will recover with in 3 to 4 days if you clean and dry the lower region. And if it is continue after that then visit to doctor for that. Use any vaginal wash. Better use cotton pads to avoid such problems.

Hi I am from tirupati. My sister has newly gave birth to a baby. The baby born on 17-09-2015. Can you suggest me some healthy foods for the mother?

Focus on eating whole grains and cereals, legumes, fresh fruits and vegetables. And go for foods that provide plenty of protein, calcium, and iron (and, as always, an occasional treat is fine). Traditionally, breastfeeding mums are given a lot of dried fruit, ghee and sugar. These high calorie foods usually were meant to supplement the khichdi diet that mums traditionally follow after birth. If you are eating normal food, you can leave out the extra ghee and sugar. Dried fruits are extremely healthy and used in most traditional confinement foods. Try having them without the ghee and sugar by putting them in your porridge (dalia) for example or in some kheer. This way your relatives will be happy that you are eating the traditional ingredients but you will not be loaded with the high calories. If you must eat the laddoos or panjiri you can reduce the calorie count by eating smaller portions. Some recipes could work well with lesser quantities of ghee and for others you could use a healthier alternative such as canola oil. If you are used to having aerated drinks to quench your thirst it is best to avoid these while breastfeeding. They contain just empty calories and no nutrition. You could instead substitute it with healthier drinks such as lassi, coconut water, buttermilk (chhaach), fresh fruit and vegetable juices or nimbu pani.

Can we do sex daily without condoms? I don't want to pregnant her. Otherwise which are the best days for safer sex? Which time is best for sex? I feel aroused a lot in early morning.

You got to have protection. Doing sex 5 days after and before period is the safest time, provided this time is also not full risk free.

No it will not cause any problem in your married life. As with any health concern, especially leading up to pregnancy or after conception, discuss all concerns with your healthcare provider. Hypertension (high blood pressure) can cause problems with erection, either directly or as a side effect of medication, as some medications used to treat hypertension in men can lead to decreased fertility. Spironolactone, which is found in several medications for high blood pressure, is believed to interfere with sperm production. Other blood pressure medicines can interfere with the sperm's ability to fertilize an egg. There are a number of things that you can do to help preserve and promote your fertility. Eat a healthy, balanced diet. Take regular exercise. Try to maintain your weight in the ideal range. Don't smoke & quit alcohol consumption. Don't use recreational drugs. Try to reduce stress.

If your wife is Breast feeding completely, it acts as a contraceptive method but you still need to b cautious since her periods will b delayed for few months after cesarean and you ll not know which day of cycle it is. If you don't want to use condoms or pills it's better you use a withdrawal method to prevent pregnancy but failures can b there.

Optimum size of the biggest follicle (egg) before ovulation is 22 mm. Doctor may give an injection for ovulation if this size is achieved. Endometrium (lining of uterus) 8 mm thickness is good enough for pregnancy to implant. But for pregnancy to come, you need healthy tubes and adequate sperm count. If both are fine, natural pregnancy is very much possible.

Every month in period time I suffer much of pain for that. Please tell me the solution.
Hello. We can minimize the pain during menses with diet and medicines (which are safe to take).. Diet: - Calcium is a mineral associated with building healthy bones and teeth. However, it may have some applications in minimizing the harmful effects of menstrual cramping. So,increase your intake by eating low-fat dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese or green leafy vegetables. - Your body uses vitamin B-6 to manufacture new red blood cells. When you lose red blood cells via menorrhagia, your body will need more to build new cells. Also, vitamin B-6 is required for your blood sugar to stay at healthy levels. This can help prevent menstrual cramping-related mood swings and fatigue. Vitamin B-6 is found in fortified cereals, bananas, spinach, sunflower seeds, avocados, tomato juice and salmon. - Just as foods can help reduce the symptoms of menstrual cramping and bleeding, foods can aggravate your symptoms. This includes eating excessive amounts of sugar -- such as cakes, cookies and pies. These are known to contribute to water retention, which make you feel bloated and uncomfortable. High-salt content foods -- french fries, pizza and other fried foods --- can also contribute to bloating. Caffeine-containing beverages like tea and coffee should be avoided as they can contribute to headaches, mood swings and trouble sleeping. - If you're craving chocolate, make sure it's over 70 per cent cocoa. This bittersweet treat will help you relax your muscles. - We all know fluids are essential when your body is cramping or bloating. Drinking two to three litres of water during your period is essential. - Tea is an easy way to replace your caffeine craving. Green tea to soothe cramps. now, even though green tea contains caffeine, try decaffeinated green tea instead — but be aware, you may lose some health benefits with a decaf version. Caffeine is another no-no. Drinking lots of coffee or pop during your period can increase higher levels of tension and anxiety. - Avoid anything that can damage your liver should be off the list. So, avoid alcohol. - Red meat, Smart says, is also know to cause stomach upsets and cramps. Medication: Start taking homoeopathic medicines - Mag. Phos. 6x and Colocynthis 200 - every 2 hrly. during the time of menses. And take Five Phos. and Alfaalfa Tonic - thrice daily for 1 month. Revert me back.

IVF Treatment Using a Donor

IVF Treatment Using a Donor

According to a report, more than 70 percent of the woman who are above 45 and trying for ARTs such as in vitro fertility (IVF), use a donor egg for conceiving a baby. With the advancement in the egg-freezing technology, it has become quite easy to make the use of a donor egg for fertility treatment. These days, there are a number of egg banks, sperm banks and egg donation agencies where donor eggs and embryos are collected and frozen for purchase. Some of the recognized fertility centres have also started their own egg and embryo banks for the convenience of the patients.

Who is eligible to go for fertility treatment with donor embryos and eggs?
Well, IVF treatment using a donor egg or embryo is a safe option for all those women who are above 40 years of age and are unable to conceive through their own egg. It is quite helpful for them in conceiving and delivering a baby of their own. Donor embryo is a wonderful option for all those couples in which both the partners are having fertility problem or have faced multiple miscarriages.

There are numerous reasons why someone might need an IVF treatment using donor eggs and sperm. Premature menopause, producing poor-quality eggs, risks of genetic disorder and absence of ovaries are some of the issues where a doctor recommends going for an IVF treatment using a donor.

How are recipients and donors matched?
It is important that the person who is donating the egg is under 36 years and has children. A donor should be healthy and fit. Physical characteristics, such as eye color, height, build, complexion, blood group and race are also matched before using an egg. According to the instruction from HFEA, the doctor is not allowed to share additional information about the donor before the matching. The donor needs to undergo a health screening process under the supervision of IVF experts. Once the clinic or agency finds a suitable donor match, the next step is to provide professional counseling on the ethical, medical and emotional impact of the donation.

Lastly, the most crucial step is to make the process legal. It involves a lawyer who draws a contract between the donor and the recipient that defines financial obligations, parental rights and future contacts. Different states have different laws, but a donor usually signs their rights to the child. It is wise to follow the legal process properly in order to avoid any future issues. A legally binding contract is of great help, especially when the donor wants to stay in touch after the child is born. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an IVF Specialist.

Scared of Surgery? You Now Have an Option - Choose Laparoscopy!

IAGES, MS, MBBS
General Surgeon, Noida
Scared of Surgery? You Now Have an Option - Choose Laparoscopy!
Scared of surgery? Choose Laparoscopy!

Traditional open surgery requires an 8-10 cm incision to expose the surgical area of the abdomen which needs to be operated. This large incision is a major post-operative side-effect which results in longer recovery period.
The alternative technique, laparoscopy also known as minimally invasive surgery or keyhole surgery, is a modern surgical procedure in which small incisions of about 0.5–1.5 cm are made far from the location of the operation. One or more such holes on the abdominal wall serve as passageways for a specialised instrument called a laparoscope. A long, thin tube headed by a high-resolution camera and a high-intensity guiding light is inserted through the incision. As the instrument moves along, the camera transmits images to a video monitor enabling your surgeon to see inside without opening up your body for surgery.
This process is used to diagnose unidentified abdominal or pelvic pain. Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is usually performed when all non-invasive alternatives have been tried. Imaging techniques like ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) scan or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are sometimes unable to provide enough data for diagnosis.
Laparoscopic surgery is used for the removals of an inflamed appendix, gall bladder, hernias, and cancer-affected organs, fibroids from the uterus, the womb (hysterectomy) and also for performing weight-loss surgeries.

Laparoscopy has a lot of advantages over the more common, open procedure. They are:
1. Less post-operative pain
2. Smaller scars
3. Reduced haemorrhaging and blood loss
4. Shorter recovery period
5. Less pain medications and analgesia requirements
6. Reduced exposure to internal organs
7. Faster return to normal activity
8. Reduced risk of infection
Laparoscopy is a proven safer choice with a fast-healing process side-stepping conventional surgery!

Will periods stop right in the 1st month of pregnancy or will it stop after three months?
Dear user. I can understand. Once your body starts producing the pregnancy hormone human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG), your periods will stop. ... This type of bleeding in early pregnancy is surprisingly common. Bleeding may also happen when the fertilised egg implants into the lining of your uterus (implantation bleeding).

Ovulation normally occurs 14 days prior to next expected period. However body does not behave like mathematical formula. Roughly around days suggested unprotected sex should be there to get pregnancy. This is why you give 12 to 24 months to nature before you consult Gynecologist or infertility specialist for pregnancy. But for supplements and vaccination and some pre-pregnancy reports if you have not consulted Gynecologist consult now, when you are planning pregnancy.

Hello lybrate user- ayurvedic concept of pcod (poly cystic ovarian disease) is somewhat different than modern concept, it generally occurs due to irregular food and daily habits done specially at the time of menstrual bleeding period. Pcod effect the ovulation process thus makes it difficult for the female to conceive and get pregnant. Some general tips to avoid pcod are- a) avoid spicy food fast food during the bleeding and take fresh indian food. B) use wet sponging instead of taking bath on those days. C) avoid running, skipping and other exercises on those days. Note: pcod can be cured within three months. Contact if interested.
