Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. The way to start will be: - gentle anti inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol for 10 days - intensive physical therapy - adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation please also tell me whether your joint pains are also associated with stiffness in joints especially when getting up in morning? can you tell me which joints are predominantly involved? if you do not improve in next 2-3 weeks, it is wise to get some blood tests done and send reports across to me: cbc, esr, crp, serum electrolytes, serum vitamin d levels. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hello lybrate user back pain have several causes can be due to back, hip joint muscle weakness, improper posture while working, standing, sitting, walking, etc. A major factor affecting the generation is the sedentary life style or less physical workout like regular walking, cycling, running etc. Activities are not a part of routine. Diet consists of more &more junk food, less fruits or fresh juice leads to weight gain. Increased body weight puts pressure on spine, extra pressure and improper posture unable to cope with this increased load results back pain. Smooth back exercises can recover your muscle weakness and regular ten days physiotherapy treatment will be more helpful to reduce pain and stiffness.

I am having savior pain down the left side shoulder. Which goes till little or ring finger through rear of hand ie. Byshape place. It increases when I hold mobile phone laying on bed. please give some solutions.

Hi I can understand your problem 1) avoid activities that make your symptoms worse 2) apply ice packs 3) start physiotherapy treatment as electrotherapy will reduce pain and inflammation 4) exercise and manual therapy will help in pain free movement. It might be soreness of heel tendons, try to avoid walking naked feet on hard surface, use soft inner sole shoe or use silicon padding for heel in shoe, do streatching exercises of ankle and feet, avoid long standing. Do let me know if you still feel any question.

Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight Leg Raise: Lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

I have swelling in my both foot below the knee. Why?

Rule out High Blood Pressure or any other Kidney Problem Do hot fomentation Keep a pillow under the legs at night &/when resting. Any way take IBUPROFEN 200mg OD & SOS x 5days CALDIKIND PLUS (mankind) 1 tab ODx10days Do knee exercises It may have to be further investigated Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. You will need other supportive medicines also. Do ask for detailed treatment plan.. Don’t ignore..It could be beginning of a serious problem.

You must avoid lifting for some days. Take rhus tox 30 (5 drops) in water thrice a day for two days and call back for further treatment.

First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket . And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back . you may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * Gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * Surya Namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * In diet vegetable protein of cereal , B complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

Kindly show me digital x rays of affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days bio d3 max 1tab od x10 do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do reply back for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Its the spasm in the muscle which makes the bone prominent in case of pain. Do hot fomentation, any gel you can apply and do exercises. It will go away.

Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). (Excessive sitting or standing is to be avoided as well don’t carry much weight on shoulders). Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Begin focusing each body part and relaxing it, then moving on. Keep the mind focused on relaxation, the breath should be normal. Relax the whole body. Management: -Stretching or activities that place additional strain on the back are discouraged. -Sleeping with a pillow between the knees while lying on one side may increase comfort. -Lying on your back with a pillow under your knees would also relieves pain and no pillow under your head. -Some people seem to benefit from the use of ice or heat. Take care, do not use a heating pad on ‘high’ or place ice directly on the skin. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. Get back to me thereafter.

Sir. I fallen down 35 days ago and injured in back side near lumber vertebra reason. I feel pain only when I go to sleeping position. Or lifting heavy wgt. Or when I tried to standing from sitting position. But I do not feel pain during running, bike driving, walking. Today my doctor saw my x-ray. There was no any bone and lumber spine injury. He prescribed me some medicine. I want to know the actual cause of this pain that I feel only in some specific angle of moving. But not feel in rest position.

Dear lybrate user according to you there is no involvement of bone problem in your soft tissue due to fall in ground there is internal haemorrhage and paining. With medicine use hot pack 15 minutes twice a day and back stretching and strengthening ex upto pain free range and postural correction use hard flat bed. Thanx.

Dear Lynbrate user This is called Growing Pains and is very common in children .when we are busy we hardly notice our own mild headaches similarly children feel it when they are relaxed and that is time at night You can either press their legs or if more give paracetamol

Dear , yes your disease is called atrophy or more specifically sacropenia. This is mainly seen in elderly after the age of 50. To combat this it is better to go in for exercises esp resistive exercises. This will help in building up the present muscles and helping prevent further loss.
