We had a intercourse yesterday which was unprotected bt she took I pill after 2 hrs is their any chance of pregnancy ...
I-Pills are not 100% effective. So there is always a small possibility of failure. I would advice her to do a urine pregnancy test just in case she misses her periods next month.

My wife is 52 yrs old and suffering from stomach ache for the last six days. She is currently on antibiotics. I wish to have sex with her tonight including oral sex. Is there any risk in licking her vagina because she may have some infection as she has stomachache.

Diploma in Community Medicine, MBBS Alternative Medicine, Diploma in Acupuncture
Alternative Medicine Specialist, Delhi
Stomach infection is due to some fast food and some over eating. If she is fine she has no problem to do so. So you can do oral sex. There is no risk of infection in you by her.

Hi, having tenderness in the breasts before and during the periods is common and happens to many females. It happens due to sudden hormonal changes in the body and many a times doesnt even need any treatment. These symptoms tend to decrease after delivering a baby.

Hello Doctor, My Mother's menstruation cycle is not getting stopped. her age is 43 yrs, She got her periods January 1st 2015 and then it continued for almost 8 days, later it stopped for 5-6 days and again started, this continued till date. Due to this her haemoglobin reduced to 4.5. So our family doctor suggested to get her admitted in hospital and get the blood transfusion done. So we admitted her on 28/01/2015 and continuous 3 days the blood transfusion was done. In total there were 3 bottles blood transfused in her body. Along with the blood transfusion Pause-MF tablets were given just to stop her bleeding, as her bleeding was heavy. Also through saline Pause injection was given. This procedure made her HB rise till 10 and also bleeding stopped, but as the injection course was over the bleeding started again in heavy manner. We consulted one Gynaecologist who gave us solution to insert Mirena Device which would stop her bleeding and other Gynaecologist suggested to remove the Uterus. So my question is which procedure would sense effective in case of this problem? Will Mirena insertion be suffice? Will it have any side effects in future on my Mother's body? Also when we are supposed to remove the uterus? Does it have any side effects on post removal? If yes then please let me know. Below are the details of the sonography reports and blood reports. HB previously: 4.5 HB current : 10 Pap Smear Test : Normal Sonography details: Clinical profile: Menorrhagia Uterus is anteverted and measures 120*59*83 mm The endometrail echo is central and is thick (17.9mm hperplasia) No focal/diffuse uterine abnormality seen. A well defined this walled cyst with clear contents is seen in the right ovary. It measures 52*39mm. The left Ovary is (32*17mm) looks normal. No andnexal abnormality is seen. There is no free fluid see in the cul-de-sac. IMPRESSION : Bulky uterus with a thick endometrial echo. For further avaluation. Right ovarian cyst. Tablets given to stop her bleeding: Xamic (2 times a day) course for 3 days. Just need a avdvise on which would be the right procedure to be followed? Mirena or Uterus removal and also its side effects ans future complications if any? Thanks

Dear, loss of appetite, nausea vomiting are common during initial 3 to 4 months of pregnancy. You be understanding and supportive, ask her food choices and give accordingly. Some times choices can be wierd, but after three months things start improving.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are not many medications that can be initiated in pregnancy, but you need to take certain precautions, - take proper care of your back, and maintain proper posrure while working, sitting etc - you can take tab paracetamol on sos basis for pain - ice packs at the site of pain and muscle spasm is also helpful - local analgesic spray like dynapar qps spray can be used for pain relief. - adequate calcium and vitamin d intake is also important in pregnancy and during lactation. Let me know on a scale of 1-10 how bad is your pain, and then lets see whether you require any supplementation or not. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Hello, firstly let me applaud you for being so brave and fighting the cancer and secondly for being daring enough to hit the gym. That apart are you on any pills or are you taking any protein supplements or any herbal powders for weight loss, if yes, I think you shud stop them and consult a nutritionist who wud be able to give you the best advise on diet! diet and exercise complement each other.

Any bleeding during pregnancy should be regarded as a process of abortion which should be evaluated immediately with the ultrasound and with the correct treatment that process can be stopped.

May i know your age and menopausal status. Post menopausal bleed or bleeding after sexual intercourse may be indicators to gynaecological cancers. It is difficult to predict your risk right now. But a surgery for removing uterus is definitely warranted, It may be checked during the surgery with a frozen section technique to evaluate for presence of cancer and be addressed accordingly then

3 Things women need to know about maintaining proper bone health

Osteoporosis is slowly emerging as an epidemic in modern day India, with more and more women getting affected by it. Perhaps, it will not be an overstatement to say that by the year 2025, India will be known as the osteoporosis capital of the world. But, the good news is that treatment for osteoporosis and other bone-related diseases is developing rapidly and you can easily maintain proper bone health by making yourself aware about the issues that might affect your bones and opting for ways to prevent them.

How severely are Indian women affected by bone related problems?

With the increase in longevity in Indian women, the extent of bone-related problems is also increasing, especially among women who are close to or have been through menopause. Studies reveal that severe bone-related problems affect about 20% of Indian women between the age of 40 and 50. Some common bone disorders that have a significant impact on the health of women with increasing age are:

  • Osteoporosis: This condition is associated with brittle and fragile bones, prevailing as a result of tissue loss due to hormonal changes or lack of requisite amount of vitamin D or calcium in the body
  • Osteopenia: Its severity is more than that of osteoporosis and this condition involves the lessening of bone tissues mineral and protein content
  • Osteomalacia: It is a condition in which your bones become soft due to vitamin D or calcium deficiency
  • Arthritis: In this condition, your joints get inflamed, leading to pain and stiffness

What are the common symptoms associated with bone-related diseases?

If you observe the following signs, you might be suffering from a bone related problem:

  • Experiencing pains without any known causes
  • Painful joints and muscles
  • Lethargy
  • Difficulty in walking properly

What are the measures can you take to prevent them?

Women under the age of 20 can prevent bone-related issues by:

  • Having a balanced diet
  • Ensuring that your diet contains the requisite amount of protein, calcium and vitamin D
  • Participating in physical activities such as running and jogging
  • Staying outdoors to get exposed to sunlight
  • Maintaining proper body weight

During the perimenopausal phase (the time when a women is about to experience menopause), she is more susceptible to bone-related issues and should take extra steps to maintain proper bone health. Some of these measures include:

  • Being careful about nutrient intake
  • Getting yourself checked by a gynecologist at regular intervals to ensure that you have correct bone density and vitamin D and calcium levels
  • Taking calcium or vitamin D supplements, if required
  • Ensuring that you have an active lifestyle

If a women’s menstrual cycle varies from 26days to 31days cycle, The shortest cycle (26days) minus18days=8th day. The longest cycle (31days) minus 10days=21st day Thus, 8th to 21st day of each cycle counting from first day of menstrual period is considered as fertile period. That is UNSAFE PERIOD during which you should not have it. Period other than this fertile period in a menstrual cycle is considered as SAFE PERIOD. But this system is not full proof system. U should rather use oral contraceptive pills like novelon to be 100% sure. Yes you can practice sex during menses without protection, she will not get pregnant during menses.
