No, there is no chance of pregnancy if you got your period on time. And there is no need for test also.

Is pcod a chronic disease. At what stage is it dangerous. Can plan for a child having pcod.

It is important to understand that PCOS is not a disease, but a syndrome- which literally means that it is a group of symptoms resulting from involvement of multiple systems of body. It can affect anyone from a young adolescent girl to an adult woman even beyond a woman’s reproductive age. The name polycystic ovary is derived from the typical appearance of the ovaries, wherein multiple small cyst like spaces can be seen inside the ovaries. But, one must understand that this polycystic appearance of the ovaries is an outcome of the syndrome rather than being a cause for that. The PCOS can present in many ways, which can range from common symptoms such as weight gain, acne, facial and excessive body hair (hirsutism) and irregular menstruation to very serious medico-social issues such as infertility, diabetes, hypertension and uterine cancers. Most common question that I get asked is if PCOS can be cured? Very sadly the answer is No- PCOS cannot be cured! But, the symptoms of PCOS can most certainly be controlled using appropriate medical treatment and lifestyle interventions described above. The key to control of these symptoms is diagnosis at an early age and well titrated intervention from an expert. Remember that it is a condition of hormonal imbalance in the body, which results in irregular ovulation, over production of male sex hormones and resistance to the action of insulin. So, in very simple words, all the interventions would be focused on correcting this hormonal imbalance in the body. Most women with PCOS are able to overcome the challenge to their fertility with proper treatment. This treatment may vary from simple measures such as oral tablets to induce ovulation to IUI and all the way to IVF. One should always seek an expert’s opinion for management of PCOS when planning for a baby, as the doctor is the best person to support in this endeavor. Always remember that PCOS stays with the woman throughout her journey of life and she has to remain vigilant to identify its long term risks such as diabetes, hypertension and uterine cancers in their early stage!

ESR is generally raised in pregnancy but ESR of 120 is quite high. It indicates some where like cough cold or urinary infection or genital infection. Please get yourself checked and rule out all above.

Hello, you may start it from day 10-15 as usually the ovulation occurs by that time and if it still doesn't occur by day 15 then you have to buy a fresh one to continue from day 16.

I have sebaceous cyst near testis I conacted a doctor he said it will remove through surgergy cost around 5000/-. Can I know this is correct amount or he is charging more.

Dear, one cannot say anything about his charges as it would very widely from the size of the cyst, medical condition of his general health, from city to city and even in the same city from area to area, on the facility you are using, name and fame of the surgeon and his experience. That is why it is difficult and morally incorrect to opine about his charges. Dr. Kiran mehta.

Before the semen analysis, you should abstain from sexual activity minimum for 3 days, but no more than 7 days. Sex the day before analysis may lead to a decrease of volume and number of sperm in ejaculate. More than seven days abstinence before the semen analysis can lead to the death of the mature sperm cells, which are capable to fertilization. You should abstain from the use of alcohol or any other drugs (including “Spice”, marijuana) in any form in order to avoid sperm motility decreasing, changing of their form and even death. It is recommended to abstain from strong black tea, coffee and smoking the day before the test to improve the indicators of the ejaculate. It is recommended to exclude fat, fried food that can reduce the total volume of the ejaculate and sperm motility. To improve sperm parameters it is useful to use plant foods rich in vitamins and fiber (fruits and vegetables), protein (lean meat, beef, chicken, rabbit), dairy products. Also, to improve the process of sperm maturation in the testes it is important to use enough vitamins (especially vitamin C and zinc).
