Hi lybrate-user Set goals– Its important to set a goal to reach the goal, without a specific goal in mind you do not reach anywhere Have a plan -Before beginning your journey towards healthy weight , have a plan ready to follow and try to follow it as much as you can. Chew food well– Half of the digestion happens in your mouth, when food mixes well with your saliva, teeth are there for chewing food well, don’t just gulp your food down the throat, few not well digested can also lead to gaining weight Eat slowly, eat mindfully– Eating slowly and giving attention to what you eat helps you to digest your food well and also helps you enjoy the process of eating Eat vegetables with every meal- It is important to include vegetables in form of salads, soups or sabji with every meal, vegetables are good sources of vitamins and minerals plus are low in calories, it helps give feeling of satiety. Eat protein with every meal– Protein are important part of our diet, they help increase our metabolism and also help to repair wear and tear of body muscles. A diet with required amount of lean proteins aids in weight loss Cook at home– Avoid outside foods, they are high in not so good fats, colours, salt and preservatives. Learn to read labels – It is very important to know what goes into the food you eat, some of the things, like hidden fats and sugars can infact make you overweight Avoid foods with high salt content – They may lead to water retention Start eating healthy not dieting– Choose your foods well, learn what is good for you and your body and what is not Love your body- It has been working to keep you working day and night, it needs good attention from you too. Give it real and nourishing foods Sleep well- Lack of sleep leads to gaining weight Keep stress at bay– Being stress can be one of the reason for weight gain. Do not be discouraged , weight loss takes time and quick fixes are not long lasting Never lose sight of your goal. Avoid drinking calories – Avoid drinks high in sugars and calories. Exercise Regularly Do not binge eat after diet slip ups– We are all humans and are subject to err, its natural to slip up sometimes, but that does not mean we fail, we can get back to eating healthy the next moment. Last but not the least- Get up and follow now what you have read. Wish you good luck.

I was in shok due to sudden death of my mother in law after successful double bypass within 15 days, Dr. said reason ...
Hi. Sad to hear about the incidence. Here I would like to say that bypass surgery is a very big and serious surgery. Yes, it is performed on many many patients everyday, and most of the patients recover from the surgery very well. But like any other major surgery, there is around 1% risk of serious outcomes of this surgery, like death or paralysis. To find out the exact cause of sudden demise when one is recovering well from the surgery is very difficult to comment. But the most common reasons are thromboembolism of lungs artery, serious cardiac rhythm abnormality (arrythmias), and unknown cause. Take care.

Its always wise to visit a Dr. with the report and xray. Many things mean differently in different context. Routinely it may be normal finding in cities but a different pattern of it will make one diagnose bronchitis. Please do not try to be a doctor to understand and manage everything.

Cholesterol damages arteries and makes them targets for hardening (atherosclerosis). You can consult me in private for detailed treatment which is available in biochemic system of medicine depending upon symptomatically. Eatng lots of garlic. What to Know About Silent Heart Attacks!

MBBS, MD - Medicine, DM - Cardiology
Cardiologist, Delhi
What to Know About Silent Heart Attacks!

A heart attack does not always have obvious symptoms, such as pain in your chest, shortness of breath and cold sweats. In fact, a heart attack can actually happen without a person knowing it. This condition is known as a ‘silent heart attack’, medically known as ‘silent ischemia’, occurring due to the shortage of oxygen supply to the heart muscle. The causes of a silent heart attack are similar to that of a heart attack.

They include-

  1. Conditions like:
  2. Lack of exercise
  3. Age, usually above 65
  4. Consumption of tobacco or smoking
  5. High consumption of alcohol

A silent cardiac arrest makes one more vulnerable to another heart attack that could be fatal. Diagnosis: The only method to diagnose if you had a silent heart attack is through imaging tests, such as echocardiogram, electrocardiogram, Holter Monitoring or others. These tests can show certain changes which might be indicative of a heart attack. An analysis of one’s overall health and the symptoms can aid in deciding whether few more tests are required.

How would you prevent a silent heart attack?
1.    Get your cholesterol and blood pressure count tested regularly.
2.    Refrain from smoking.
3.    Get your VO2 max checked regularly.
4.    Live a healthy lifestyle: Refrain from smoking and excessive alcohol consumption; exercise daily, eat healthy.
5.    Control high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes
6.    Be aware of your body and call on a doctor if you feel there’s anything which is bothering you.

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

How to cure BP without medicine tell me what I must do and how much I must do that in a day.

How to cure BP without medicine tell me what I must do and how much I must do that in a day.
A proper well balanced diet and daily physical activity is important. Normal blood pressure ranges from systolic 100-130mmhg and diastolic 70-90 mmhg. If the BP is more than that then you need to visit a doctor. Avoid fried food, soft drinks, junk food, excessive sweets and coffe etc. Try to have atleast fresh fruits and vegetables salad 3-4 times a day. Extra salt in any form should be avoided. 30 minutes walk after dinner is good. Cycling, swimming or running 3 times a week is advised.

consuming the salt ,will it be harmful for my health?
Yes, complete removal of salt from diet can be harmful. The guidelines say that you can have the amount of salt that is required in cooking food. Just avoid taking extra salt for example adding salt in your meals or in juices or salad. Avoid salty snacks like bhujia, papad, pickles, chips, sauces etc etc.
