LASIK - Dispelling Myths About It!

One of the most cutting edge eye procedures which has been very successful in practice and has been loved by millions of patients is LASIK. LASIK is a form of eye surgery performed with the help of a precise laser and is very effective in correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness as well as astigmatism (imperfections with the shape of the cornea). With any such procedure, there are bound to be myths which arise out of misconceptions. Some of those myths as well as the advantages of LASIK have ben enumerated below:

Myth # 1 – Lasik can only be performed up to a certain age
Many people think that LASIK cannot be performed on people of advanced age. This is a misconception as LASIK has been performed on people above 90 as well. There are some considerations however, such as the health of the person and the condition of the eyes. If there are no medical objections, then LASIK can be performed regardless of the age of the person. Doctors also tend to wait till young adulthood (around 18-20 years of age) before performing LASIK. However, LASIK procedures have been performed on young children with severe vision problems as well.

Myth # 2 – The technology behind LASIK is too new and thus not yet perfected
This is yet another commonly propagated myth about LASIK. The technology for this procedure has been around for quite some time and has ben performed with increasing regularity since the 1980s. There have been multiple long term studies done on people who underwent LASIK surgery and almost all of them have had favorable results both in the short term as well as the long term. It is a properly established field and means of treatment within ophthalmology and is subject to the same stringent standards testing as other treatments within the field of medicine.

Myth # 3 – LASIK can cause many complications such as dry eyes and night glares
Any surgical procedure has a certain chance of complications occurring. However, LASIK tends to have very low occurrences of complications. What many people tend to confuse complications with is the normal healing procedure. Dry eyes and night glares usually occur after the first few weeks of the procedure and is part of the healing process of the body. It usually tends to go way with the first few months itself.

Myth # 4 – Contact lenses are better than LASIK
While contact lenses do serve a purpose in correcting vision, they can often contribute to eye infections as well as irritations and headaches. Also contact lenses need to be changed every few weeks or so. LASIK surgery eliminates all of these hassles and you can have perfectly clear vision without having to worry about all the problems that contact lenses bring with them.

Myth # 5 – The LASIK procedure is painful
No other myth is farther from the truth. In this procedure, the surgeon creates a thin flap like structure out of the tissue within the cornea with the help of a laser. This layer is then used to reshape the cornea and thus correct vision problems. Antiseptic and numbing eye drops are used when performing this surgery which results in minimal discomfort that only stays during the initial stages. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ophthalmologist and ask a free question.

1. Start off eating 2000-to-3000 calories per day because… Your goal is to gain muscle mass without becoming a fat ass so by eating 2000-to-3000 calories per day you're going to gain lots of muscle mass while gaining very little or no fat at all so… Don't think you have to" bulk up" by constantly eating everything in sight or that you have to eat more than 3000 calories per day but… Only consider eating over 3000 calories per day if you've been following these 10 important workout tips here along with the other 7 steps in this diet for 2-to-4 weeks & you're still not seeing results and if you don't know… Go here to see how to count calories and the amount of protein in the foods you eat. 2. Eat 150-to-300 grams of protein per day because… You simply will not be able to build any muscle without the right amount of protein because your muscles are made up of mostly just protein & water so after you breakdown your muscles doing workouts A, B & C… You'll have to eat those 150-to-300 grams of protein per day so your muscles can use the protein to recover, repair and regrow itself into a much bigger and stronger muscle but… Eating more than 300 grams of protein per day will not help you build muscle faster because most of the excess protein you eat will only be used for energy (like carbs) instead of building muscle plus… Eating more than 300 grams may cause you to have not enough carbs in your diet to gain muscle (see why you need carbs to build muscle) and… About 25-to-50% of your diet will be protein when you eat 150-to-300 grams of protein per day on a 2000-to-3000 calorie diet and for the rest of your diet… 3. Eat anything you want as long as you're eating 150-to-300 grams of protein per day so… As long as you're getting 150-to-300 grams or 600-to-1200 calories worth of protein in your diet… The other 800-to-2400 calories of your 2000-to-3000 calorie diet can come from eating anything you want but don't get too excited about eating the foods you love because… You'll build muscle faster and put on less fat if you make a majority of the" eat anything you want" part of your diet complex carbs, healthy fats & other healthy unprocessed foods here because… Complex carbs will give you more energy to lift heavier weights, do more reps & sets when you do workouts A, B & C and if you make simple carbs (or sugary, salty or fatty foods) the majority of the" eat anything you want" part of your diet… You may start to have massive cravings for many more simple carbs which will make you eat too much or way more than 3000 calories (which won't stop you from gaining muscle) but eating that much will also cause you to put on lots of fat. 4. Drink lots of water because… The other 70-to-80% of your muscles are made up of water so try to drink at least 1-to-2 liters of water per day or better yet… Try to drink 1 gallon of water per day which is 4 liters, 16 cups or 128 ounces. 5. Eat whenever you want but… You may want to eat at least 3 meals a day (even 6 or 7 meals per day) because you may not have the appetite to eat TWO 1000+ calorie meals per day totaling 2000-to-3000 calories and… Every time you eat a meal during the day you want to have at least 1 serving of protein and for the rest of the meal you can eat whatever you like (see step 3) &… Make sure that all the servings of protein you eat during the day adds up to 150-to-300 grams of protein. 6. Use a food journal so… You can make changes to your diet to help you gain muscle mass faster so… If you're not seeing any visible results after 2-to-4 weeks and you're sure that you're using these 10 important workout tips here along with doing all 7 steps of this diet correctly then… You would keep adding 250-to-500 calories and/or 25-to-50 grams of protein every 2-to-4 weeks but… Try not to go over 3000 calories because you may gain way more fat than muscle at that point and/or… Try not to make more than 50% of your diet protein since that may make you gain muscle slower so… If you don't use a food journal you'll never know were to start making changes (if needed) in your diet to gain more muscle and If you're gaining muscle but you're not happy with the amount of fat you are also gaining… Eat 250-to-500 less calories (but never no less than 2000 total calories) and/or… Make sure a majority of the eat anything you want part of your diet is healthy unprocessed foods here & healthy fats and eat less of these bad foods and/or… Do more cardio, fat loss intervals but use this tip if doing cardio or intervals when you're working out with weights. 7. Use MRPs and/or protein shakes ONLY if needed because… Meal replacements (MRPS) & protein shakes are only here to help make it easier for you to get all the 2000-to-3000 calories & 150-to-300 grams of protein you need per day to quickly gain muscle mass so… If you have a busy schedule where you can't always take more than 10 minutes to eat a meal or if you don't have the appetite or if you're not hungry enough to eat 2000-to-3000 calories per day then… You'll definitely need MRPS like Labrada MRP and/or protein shakes like Optimum nutrition whey to gain muscle mass but… If you have the time and the appetite for 2000-to-3000 calories per day then save your money and get all of your calories & protein from regular foods but realistically… You will need to use a MRP and/or a protein shake to help you get all the 2000-to-3000 calories & 150-to-300 grams of protein you need to build muscle so…

Common Causes and Symptoms of Pneumonia

Pneumonia is a lung infection that can be potentially fatal if it is not treated on time. This disease may cause fever, cough, cold and congestion and is known to clear within two to three weeks with bed rest and proper remedies at home. Yet, it is best to have it checked by a doctor, especially if it happens to affect a child. The causes of symptoms of this condition are as follows:

Symptoms: The most common symptom of pneumonia is a painful cough with which you will end up throwing out lots of mucus. This mucus or sputum usually comes from the lungs. The patient may also have fever and may experience shortness of breath and shallow breathing on several occasions. Further, chills that cause chattering teeth and shivering, can also afflict the patient, especially during the night. Chest pain is also a common symptom of this condition due to the excessive and persistent coughing, laboured breathing and congestion. Due to this, the patient may also experience accelerated heartbeat and a pounding heart. Nausea, weakness, fatigue and loose motions are some of the other symptoms of this condition.

Causes

  • Germs: Germs finding their way into the lungs is a sure shot way of contracting pneumonia. These bacteria are most likely to strike when you have just recovered from a flu, cold or fever following which your immunity is pretty low.
  • Chronic Ailments: Patients who are suffering from chronic ailments like asthma, heart disease, diabetes and even cancer, are at risk of getting pneumonia, in which case immediate treatment will be required so that it does not become a fatality.
  • Bacteria: While the specific bacteria cannot be diagnosed with the help of tests, the most common bacteria that cause this condition are known as Streptococcus Pneumoniae. Other bacteria that can cause this disease include the Mycoplasma Pneumoniae which can cause a more mild form of pneumonia known as walking pneumonia.
  • Virus: The viruses that cause influenza like virus A and B can also cause this disease along with the respiratory syncytial virus or RSV. These affect the nose, lungs and throat.
  • Immunity: When your immune system is impaired or when you have just recovered from a bout of moderate to serious ailments, this virus or bacteria is most rampant and can afflict you. In case the patient is suffering from AIDS or other fungal infections, the risk of contracting pneumonia is heightened.

This is a contagious disease that may be caused when you breathe the same infected air as another patient with the same disease. It can also follow viral diseases like chickenpox and measles.

You can taje protein shake regularly to increase your muscle mass. But only protein supplement will not help you to gain muscle mass. Along with that you have to take a balanced diet chart according to your age, height and body weight. Diet and exercise both are important for weight gain. Eat good quality protein food in your daily diet.

Hi. The diet you have mentioned is not balanced. This kind of diet you can't maintain for more than 2-3 weeks. The diet has very little proteins. Bfast should have have an egg or some veg proteins Lunch should have a dal. Dinner should be similar to lunch. You can have 2 roti instead of 3 in dinner. Just having salad and sprout for dinner with keep you hungry. A diet should be sustainable for life. It should be both delicious and nutritious.
