My girlfriend is having heavy menstrual cramps and as per her it's paining a lot. Please advice. What are the reasons of such cramps and how to get relieved from such pains.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist,
My girlfriend is having heavy menstrual cramps and as per her it's paining a lot. Please advice. What are the reasons...
Cramps are normal during menses and if severe, she can take some pain killer and see. If the cramps are along with vomits or verys evere, see a gynecologist who will examine and give required medicines. The cause of pain is the spramodic contractions by the uterus to drive out the blood, but there may be some serious issues too like endometriosis etc which are tackled and diagnosed only on personal consultation.

This was safe period, so less chances to be pregnant, avoid unprotected sex, use condom everytime, take unwanted 72 tablet immediately after unprotected sex. All the best.

My wife had caesarean delivery last 7 days back, what are important managements for her to avoid any complications in future. When she can go to job, her job is office work only. Sedentary job.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS

My wife had caesarean delivery last 7 days back, what are important managements for her to avoid any complications in...
Operation for delivery is just like any other major abdominal surgery where the layers of abdomen are cut delicately in layers to reach the uterus, delicately split open to take out the baby, placenta, fluids. Uterus is stitched in layers, a total of 3 including delicate top and inner layer and tough middle muscle layer, followed by stich on covering of entire abdomen, the delicate layer first and the tough rectus sheath which gives security to every organ including the long food pipe present within. Last layer is top layer with fat and muscle and followed by skin layer. Skin layer dries after 10 days and it looks as if nothing has happened, while so much has happened. After normal delivery it takes 6 weeks for every internal organ to get back in shape, after operative delivery it takes minimum 8 weeks for internal stitches to heal, there is risk of hernia if proper rest is not taken. Risk of infection if basic hygiene is not maintained by taking bath and keeping wound clean for 1st 10 days. She can take a bath after 7 days, do routine work for baby, feeding may make her sleep less because baby require a feed every 3 hours or so and it's worth doing so, no lifting of heavy weights like buckets or washing clothes and doing any post natal exercise minus professional supervision, eating a high protein diet like milks and curds and boiled eggs plus proteins supplements plus anything that does not cause distension, one knows about chicken peas, beans, certain raw salads etc. Yes do eat for 2 and do take rest while baby is sleeping for an average 20 hours in a day. Don't forget to take iron, folic acid and calcium tabs. She will be joining office after 2 months, I can only wish for a creche facility in office. Good luck to both of you, do share with her parental responsibly by helping her look after the baby.

Masala "Spiced" Chai + Ayurvedic Tips For Winter

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Masala "Spiced" Chai + Ayurvedic Tips For Winter

Winter is a time when nature's energy withdraws back unto herself as nature's many expressions begin to slow down. According to ayurveda, a person is a miniature reflection of nature and winter represents a time for much needed restoration. Even more reason to treat yourself to the warming qualities of delicious and yummy masala spiced chai.

Ingredients:
 ginger, 1 tsp finely shredded
 cardamom, 7 whole seeds
 clove, 1/2 whole clove
 cinnamon
 milk, 1.5 cup
 sugar, 1 tsp
 orange pekoe tea, 2 tsp

winter tips
Generally, the food we eat during winter season should be warming, nourishing, and mildly spicy. Likewise, we should avoid cold food and flavors which are excessively sweet, sour, or salty as these are all considered kapha provoking and will therefore further increase congestion

Hi 21 years old girl. Mujhe intimate area whitening cream ke bare m janna h. For pink vagina. Pls suggest me which one is better and safe intimate whitening /bleach cream.

Private parts are naturally darker than rest of the body. Such creams will only damage your skin and make you more prone to infection. Maintain good hygiene. Do not fall into the trap of these whitening creams.

5 Healthy Habits for a Healthier Lifestyle

PGD Maternal Child Health, MBBS

5 Healthy Habits for a Healthier Lifestyle

We often fear change in our daily routines, it makes us anxious and jittery. But sometimes change is often required to shake up your life and inculcate better and healthier daily habits. We are creatures of habit and linearity, and like to keep it so. Soon these new habits will be a part and parcel of your life in no time. But it is important to push yourself and be disciplined and not slack off when your body refuses to comply.

  • Exercise daily: This habit can never be stressed upon enough. It gets your body up and running first thing in the morning, and helps to make you feel good about your body. When exercising daily, your body is fit and healthy, decreasing the risk of lifestyle diseases. The kind and level of exercises that you do is completely dependent upon your goals.
  • Eat right: What you eat everyday by way of habit, makes more impact than you think. Stick to well-balanced meals that supply your body with just the right amount of proteins, carbohydrates, etc. Food also has an impact on your moods and it is important that you understand what each food does to different kinds of moods. Make sure you eat a power-packed breakfast for it is the only meal of the day that gives you enough energy to get through to the next meal.
  • Limit your online time: Social media has become so much a part of our lives. But being online and making your social media presence felt all the time isn't all that 'cool', but a rather unhealthy habit. Checking your phone constantly for those incessant notifications, hearing ghost rings, can make you have extremely jumpy nerves. Limit the number of times you check your phone in a day, and have phases where you don't touch it at all, especially just before you go to bed. The glare of your smartphone can not only ruin your sleeping patterns but also your eyesight.
  • Stay hydrated: You should drink a glass of water first thing in the morning, to wash out all the toxins that have accumulated overnight. This helps to boost your metabolism and raises your energy levels. Drink enough water the rest of the day to keep up this cleansing effect.
  • Meditate: In a world that is now so virtual, it is integral that you take out time for yourself and yourself only. Meditation is a way by which you can find inner peace and clear your mind of all unnecessary thoughts. It helps you to focus on yourself, your goals and wants. Starting your day peacefully with intent and focus is the way to go.

It's all about trying and being disciplined enough to keep at it and succeed. It is for your betterment and will go a long way to keep you healthy mentally, physically and emotionally. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

In last month of pregnancy better to confirm with obstetrician examining her whether intercourse is allowed. If allowed no problem if semen goes in. Better to use condoms.

Looks like the adverse effect of the pill. Contraceptive pills are synthetic hormones which alter the hormonal cycle. It is self corrective. You can take an over the counter pain killer If headache still persists consult a gynecologist.

Being overweight, using certain medications such as blood thinners and having a hereditary bleeding disorder also put you at a higher risk. There are many possible causes of heavy menstrual bleeding, including hormonal imbalance in the body, fibroids or noncancerous tumors of the uterus, uterine polyps, miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, use of blood thinners and a side effect of using an intrauterine device (iud) for birth control. Ayurvedic medicines start kar do is se thik ho jayega m2 tone syrup and pushyanug churna and ashokarishta syrup any queries inform me.
