Eye redness is most often due to swollen or dilated blood vessels. This makes the surface of the eye look red. There are many causes of a red eye or eyes like infection, allergy. Foreign body in eyes. Some are medical emergencies and some are a cause for concern, but not an emergency. Others are nothing to worry about. Consult your local eye specilist to see what is the cause.

This could be due to migraine . Follow the advice given below 1.Unilateral Headache, eye pain 2.Throbbing and pulsating pain 3.Nausea and Vomiting 4.Increased sensitivity to light and sound 5.Feeling of Dizzy or Faint Treatment of migraine 1.Take Paracetamol 500mg one Tablet sos after food up to a maximum of three tablets daily at the time of attack 2.Drink plenty of water and take rest. 3.Check your BP 4. Avoid stress, anxiety, depression, agitation,exposure to noise, bright light since it precipitates migraine attack 5. Go for regular exercise 6. practice yoga, meditation, deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve you from stress 7. If You have chronic migraine, you have to take migraine prophylaxis after consulting neurologist

Lybrate-user you need to undergo pre lasik workup which will include corneal topography. If your corneal thickness is fine and topography is normal, then you can safely go for lasik. Lasik has much predictable results with the current advanced technology.

Hello Doctor. My eye glasses broke accidentally on one side. My exams are around the corner so I opted for a quick soln and fit one side glass from a local shop of the same power with out consulting doctor. But the frame has slightly bent now and I cannot change glasses as it will have to take some days to adjust. I am getting headaches now. What should I do?

Hello. Take simple crocin tablet for the headaches, secondly do not strain your eyes too much ans only read in full light (not in dim light) prepare new glasses soon.

I would suggest you to see a retina expert as early as possible. These r called as floaters and are a mark of vitreoretinal pathology. Its wise to get both eyes screened and lasered prophylactically.

There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 26 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

My niece has eye problems by birth. The cocked eye had started being quite visible now. She's only 2 n have been advised surgery to which I m not in favour of as she had been a sickly baby please suggest.

Hello, get your eyes tested from an opthalmologist. Include the following for getting better vision: vitamins a, c, e, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. Dha is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for strengthening eye muscles: -begin by partially closing your eyes; the lids should only be halfway shut. After holding for 10-15 seconds, close your eyes very slowly. Take a few deep breaths to increase oxygen in the blood. -warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. -hold a pen at arm's length. Focus your gaze on the tip of the pen. Bring the pen closer to your nose at a slow and steady pace. Repeat this exercise 5-10 times. -concentrate your vision on the tip of your nose. Then shift your gaze to an object further away, either at arm's length or 20 feet away. Then shift your eyes back to the tip of your nose. Repeat this exercise 10 times. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Begin by look to the left-most position (without moving your head) and hold to stretch your eye muscles. Hold for 5 counts. Blink and return your gaze back to look straight in front of you. Then look to the right-most position with your gaze and hold for 5 counts. Repeat 3 times, blinking between each hold. Then, repeat this exercise looking up and then down. Do not forget about blinking. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Look up and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look up to and to your left for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your left for 5 seconds. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing first and then reducing the power of your eyes (if the eye power is less). Take physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 4-6 months and instill euphrasia eye drops twice a day. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

Hello as your age is 19 now so your number will not increase nw you can go for lasik if you want to get rid of glasses.

Get your refraction done and wear spectacles eat green veggies. Carrots. Strain less your eyes. Relax your eyes in between work. Blink regularily if working for long time on computer. Lower the brightness of your screen. Work under adequately illuminated conditions. If needed wear corrective spectacles. These r few things you can take care of. Otherwise as such no options available which wd increases your eyesight.

For over a month now I have been having issues with my eye. Before it was watering and burning. The watering was so bad it was rolling down my check. Its only the one eye really. Now I am having pain like someone is poking me and my check under the eye feels like I was punched and my eye brow hurts too. It seems to also be affecting my migraines. Please help!

HELLO SIR, As per Your history, it looks like conjunctivitis. Please consult ophthalmologist to get treatment. Apply cold compresses, avoid sharing towel with family members. Do not rub eyes.

Some people who have a minimal refractive error will often get away without wearing glasses, but when working on a computer screen or doing a lot of concentrated work, the small prescription can begin to cause symptoms and under these circumstances correcting the prescription with glasses can be helpful. An anti-reflection coating (ultraclear) is often advised to reduce the annoying reflections of light from the lens surfaces. If your eyes are fine and normal then there is no proven glasses that can be prescribed to help. However, some people find that wearing glasses with a tint that absorbs the blue spectrum of light makes vision more comfortable. They are usually tinted a yellow colour. A common problem when working on a screen for long periods is'dry eye. This is because concentrated work tends to reduce the blink reflex that replenishes the tears, and the dry atmosphere and lack of fresh air adds to the problem of insufficent tears. Allowing the cornea to become dry can cause irritation and blurred and variable vision. Use some lubricating eye drops like refresh tearsthat use them at least 4 times a day at least. You do need to look at every aspect of your work environment also. Use proper lighting, dont work in dim conditions should use table and chair. Your table should be of proper height so that you dont have to bend too much. Take rest after 30 mins for few mins, put the tear drops and work again. Do blink intermittently.

The solution for this problem is its reduced usage and while using computor use in proper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the computor screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of computor usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine CINELUBE EYE DROPS ( HAPDCO) Pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

Hello, you should do the below given exercises to strengthen your eye muscles;- 1. Palm your eyes:-Sit comfortably in a chair. Rub your hands together until they feel warm. Close your eyes and cover them lightly with your cupped palms. Avoid applying pressure to your eyeballs. Make sure no light can enter your eyes though gaps between your fingers Take deep breaths slowly and evenly while thinking of a calming scene, like an empty beach, a clear lake, or a still mountain. Once you see nothing but blackness, remove your palms from your eyes. Repeat the palming for 3 minutes or more. 2. Massage your eyes. This will help to improve blood circulation around your eyes and face. Wash your eyes with clean water twice daily and instill 2 drops of CmD2 eye drop in each eye twice daily. Add Carrots, apples, indian gooseberry, papaya to your daily diet routine.

Dear lybrate user, up should find out the exact cause of visionary defect. Take, easily digestible, simple, non irritant diet on time. Take, apples, carrots, egges, mango, spinach, almonds, walnuts. Most of us take our eyes for granted. It has been often noticed that an individual splurges on expensive sunglasses for looking smarter. But, when it comes to the health of eyes, he or she is either ignorant or simply reluctant to do anything. This tendency is bad for the health of your precious eyes.

Remember, how you use them to stare at the screens of your gadgets all day long. Take out some time from your busy schedule and take care of your eyes. They are precious and vulnerable too.

Follow the tips below to keep your eyesight intact till your dying day:

  1. Eat right for a good vision: It is very important to provide the right and sufficient amounts of nutrients to your body for developing or maintaining a good eye sight. Include nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zinc, and vitamins C and E in your regular diet to boost your eyesight. Food items like green and leafy vegetables, salmon, tuna, and other oily fish, eggs, nuts, beans, and other non-meat protein sources, oranges and other citrus fruits or juices and oysters and pork are excellent for the eye. The intake of a balanced diet keeps you away from diabetes, which causes blindness.
  2. Give up smoking: Cigarettes or other tobacco products are bad for your eyes. They make your eyes more vulnerable to diseases like cataracts, optic nerve damage, and macular degeneration.
  3. Guard your eyes from sunlight: It has been found that long exposure to sunlight leads to damage of the eyeballs. This happens as the UV rays in sunlight have an adverse impact on our eyes. You must put on sunglasses when you are outdoors for a longer period. You must choose sunglasses which give you 90 to 100 percent protection against sunlight. UV rays can cause cataracts and macular degeneration.
  4. Avoid the screen: It is advisable to not spend long hours sitting in front of the computer screen or TV. Take breaks while working on the computer. Also, remember blinking your eyes while staring at the screen to avoid drying up of the eyes. Blinking increases tear production, keeping the eyes moist and healthy.
  5. Use safety devices: If you work with hazardous substances, it is advisable that you put on safety devices on your eyes for their protection.
  6. Hydrate your eyes: In order to have a good vision, you must hydrate your eyes by splashing water on your eyes wide open at specific intervals in a day. When you wash your face after returning from outside, don't forget to wash your eyes as well. As you splash water on the eyes, the dust particles on the surface of the eyelid, gathered from outside, gets washed away. f you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a ophthalmologist.
