I have multiple bone related problems. Lot of pain at different places because of spondilytis, knee pain (ligament tear) in both legs. Recently my ankle is swollen for more than 1. 5, months. Stiffness remains in whole body including palm, back, legs, shoulder. Heels also pain.Please do help.

Ideally you need to consult neurophysician for your headache as far as back pain is concerned, you can take pain killers for few days also maintain good sitting posture with proper back support do not sit on floor get into some regular exercise regime take vitamin d supplement.

Hi My mother 65 year old she having neck spiral cervical spondylosis she suffered from high pain for last pain I consult the orthopedic doctor she admitted in his hopital for 7 days but she cant having relief from the pain now she is at home she cant sit more than two minutes and cant walik for more than 2 minutes now she eat lyrica and itova tablet but she cant relif from the pain kindly give me advice or suggest specialist for her relief.

Are You Suffering From Rheumatoid Arthritis? Do's And Don'ts For It!

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder in which the body recognizes the body's own system as foreign and produces an inflammatory reaction.  The synovium which is the space between the bones and the joints and contains a lubricating fluid which allows easy movement of the joints.

Inflammation of this space leads to painful, swollen joints that can also turn red and become stiff over a period of time.  The joint surfaces can gradually progresses to produce deformities (the swan-neck deformity of the hand for instance) and disability.

Because it is an autoimmune disorder, the exact etiology is not known but lifestyle, stress, cold weather are supposedly predisposing factors. That being the case, it is not surprising that Ayurveda has a variety of options, both in terms of do's and don't's to manage rheumatoid arthritis - both the severity of symptoms and further progression of the disease.

Do's:  A well-planned diet will help by supporting optimal functioning of the immune system and nourish the affected joints. 

  1. People diagnosed with RA should follow a diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables.  Drumsticks, bitter gourd, carrot, papaya, green leafy vegetables, cabbage, etc., reduce inflammation and hyperactivity of the immune system.  The antioxidant properties in these neutralize the free radicals circulating in the body (responsible for increasing inflammation).  This helps control the longstanding inflammation of the joints
  2. It is also advisable to eat them as whole fruits and not as juices.  The fiber in the whole fruits helps digestion
  3. Sprinkle pepper powder over cooling food items like cucumber and radish
  4. Include garlic which is an excellent remedy for RA,  can be mixed with buttermilk
  5. Whole grains such as wheat, brown rice, millet, barley are beneficial for RA, their high fiber content helps in proper digestion and promotes regular bowel movements
  6. Honey mixed with water
  7. Drink boiled milk to which dry ginger powder is added; this can replace tea and coffee
  8. Milk mixed with turmeric powder is also helpful in controlling inflammation
  9. Work at reducing weight

Don'ts: In addition to adding the above to your diet, there are some things to avoid, which can worsen symptoms of inflammation. 

  1. Avoid overall unhealthy and irregular diet habits which affects the immune system and aggravates symptoms
  2. Avoid sleeping during daytime and staying awake at nights 
  3. Avoid deep fried foods and fermented food items 
  4. Given its autoimmune nature, it is better to avoid regular allergy-inducing foods like dairy products, soy, peanuts, processed foods, artificial additives, etc.  These could trigger an enhanced allergic reaction.
  5. Avoid alcohol, tobacco 
  6. Avoid tea and coffee and other caffeinated drinks 

With simple daily food habit and lifestyle changes, the severity of RA can be managed effectively. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

A fair amount of Homeopathy medications r available. Please use CALENDULA MOTHER TINCTURE Externally on the affected part. Clean it simultaneously putting 50 drops in 200 ml of lukewarm water. Do it thrice. Orally HEPERSULPHUR 30 two pills every four hour a day. Do it for three days. From day one sure to bring back her smile.

I suggest you to get proper detailed blood investigations done especially regarding thyroid profile and vitamin b12 and vitamin d3 profile. Its a very common problem due to above mentioned pathologies.

* neck pain occurs due to wrong posture or due to strain on your neck muscle. Check your posture, do not bend your neck excessively and when you work on your laptop or computer after half hour of working move your neck slowly in clockwise and anticlockwise direction. * do neck massage with lukewarm mustard oil. * do not take pillow of high hight during sleeping or avoid to take pillow. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

This is cervical pain (neck pain) If you keep ice that would help and along side you can do hot water fermentation. You shall use cervical collar which would help you to reduce the radiating pain ie. Due to the nerve compression.

You should prefer Homeopathic medicines....surgery is the last option. Give her Mag Phos 12 x - thrice daily for next 2 weeks. DO give hot and cold compress alternately for acute pain when required. For further queries get back to me.

Common Remedies and Solutions for Back Pain

 Most of the common back pains we experience are mechanical in origin and therefore are affected only by drugs and medication with pain-relieving capabilities. There are no medicines or drugs capable of removing the causes of our common backaches and pains. Therefore, medication should only be taken when your pains are severe or when you must find relief.Certain medications such as aspirin and non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) have been found to be the most useful for alleviation of acute back pain and have fewer side effects than some other commonly prescribed medications. Both have been recommended by the United States Federal Government Agency for Health Care Policy and Research.

1. BED REST 

When your back pain is so severe that bed rest is required, you should restrict this period of rest, if at all possible, to two or three days.A recent study conducted in the United States demonstrated that those patients resting in bed for two days recovered as well as those remaining in bed for seven days. However, those patients remaining ambulant and moving were able to go back to work sooner than those who rested for either two or seven days. Nevertheless, I have seen many patients who could still not arise from bed after ten days. 

2. ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is able to relieve pain and, when all else has failed, is well worth a trial. You should be aware, however, that as with taking medication, you can obtain relief from acupuncture, but acupuncture itself does not correct the underlying mechanical problem. 

CHIROPRACTIC

In the past, the treatment of back and neck problems by adjust mentor manipulation of the spine was considered one of the most popular forms of treatment, and it was demonstrated by chiropractors and osteopaths in the first half of the century that a short-term benefit could be obtained from this form of treatment. However,much research has now shown that from spinal manipulation or adjustment there are no long-term benefits, and its use can create dependency.A recent study by internationally renowned researchers from the University of Washington in the United States has shown that one month after completing treatment, patients taught the McKenzie method improved to the same degree as patients receiving manipulation by chiropractors. However, the patients receiving the McKenzie method had fewer treatments to achieve that improvement,and 72% of them reported that in the event of recurrence they would manage their own problem. This has great significance for those patients with recurring problems.About 80% of patients with common back problems can be taught the self-manipulation methods outlined in this book. The other 20% of the population are the only ones who will require any form of manipulative therapy.I think it is important that people who are suffering from back pain are aware that spinal manipulation or adjustive treatments should not be given to the whole population with back pain in order to deliver it to the few who really need it. Spinal manipulation should certainly not be used before self-treatment measures have proven unsuccessful.Manipulative phyiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths all dispense spinal manipulation or "adjustment."

ELECTROTHERAPY

Recommend various forms of heat, shortwave diathermy,and ultrasound, all of which are commonly used in the treatment of back pain.You should be aware that these treatments provide no long-term benefit and do nothing to treat the underlying problem, nor is there any scientific evidence that they can accelerate healing.

Hello apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation .take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day. Avoid fermented food. Junk food.

Try few things for your back pain: - Apply Ice and Heat Heating pads and cold packs can comfort tender trunks. Most doctors recommend using ice for the first 48 hours after an injury -- particularly if there is swelling — and then switching to heat. You can use whichever you find comforting as long as your skin is protected. - Limit Bed Rest Studies show that people with short-term low-back pain who rest feel more pain and have a harder time with daily tasks than those who stay active. -Keep Exercising Activity is often the best medicine for back pain. Simple exercises like walking can be very helpful. But remember to move in moderation, Stay away from strenuous activities like gardening and avoid whatever motion caused the pain in the first place. -Maintain Good Posture Most people have poor posture when going about their daily activities, putting unnecessary strain on their backs. -Strengthen Your Core Most people with chronic back pain would benefit from stronger abdominal muscles. If the abdominals are weak, other areas must pick up the slack. When we strengthen the abdominals, it often reduces the strain on the lower back. - Improve Flexibility Too much tension and tightness can cause back pain. By increasing flexibility you need to put an equal load throughout the body from the feet all the way up to the head. -Sleep the Right Way The amount of rest you get is important, and so is the position you get it in. Sleeping in a bad position or on a mattress without support can cause back pain. Back sleepers should put pillows under their knees. Side sleepers should place pillows between their knees to keep their spine in a neutral position. Stomach sleeping causes the neck and head to twist and can put undue stress on the back. -Use Relaxation Techniques Research shows that practices such as meditation, deep breathing and yoga, which help put the mind at rest, can do wonders for the back. -See a Specialist Developing an individualized exercise plan is essential to managing chronic back pain. Hello, you may have disc problem of your spine. Any leg or buttock pain. Avoid long sitting or travelling, do core strengthening exercises of spine. Consult ortho spine surgeon for further evaluation.

Garlic with its multi sided medicinal qualities is also useful for arthritis. Consumption of two to three cloves of garlic work wonder against inflammation leading to aching joints. Besides garlic, ginger is also effective from the point of view of rheumatic arthritis. Consumption of at least thirty to fifty grams of ginger serves to reduce the painful conditions.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part --knee rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Dear , How old are you? Does your shoulder pain only with over head movements? You appear to have supraspinatus tendinitis, which is mild stretching of one of the ligaments in your shoulder. Rest your shoulder for 2 weeks, avoid over head lifting and use a pain killer. The pain will improve, though it may take some time to improve.
