I have breathing problems since childhood. I frequently get nose blocks, sore throat. And I am allergic to dust. How can this be cured?

DAA, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS, DMRD
Pediatrician, Mumbai
Hi lybrate-user, as dust contains multiple allergen for example mites, pollen, animal dander, insect etc. Its important to undergo allergy prick testing to identify the specific allergen that you are allergic to. Immunotherapy is an effective treatment to develop immunity towards the specific allergen you are allergic to.

I was suffered a lot with headache I consulted a doctor and he said im having infection in nose that is sinusitis so by his treatment I went for a surgery still im feeling headache.

BHMS
Homeopath, Delhi
In sinusitis, by surgery they would have drained the fluid. But the tendency is still there. Avoid cold, spicy and sour things in your meal. Start doing pranayam. It will help you. You may take homoeopathic treatment.

I am getting tonsillitis in every three or four months frequency.? What is permanent treatment for it. Shall I go for surgery.

MBBS
General Physician,
youbsre the best judge for chronic tonsillitis. if your suffering is very recurring and incapacitated very frequently. then I think you should get it removed by an ENT surgeon. or else have warm saline gargle regularly. have homadelemon juice which is very rich in vitamin C thereby increasing your body autoimmune system which prevents infection.

I am 25y. Old and I feel sore throat when I wake up in the morning (like it is dry )I actually do a job which involves me standing for long hours and also have soreness under feet. My sleep timings are not usual (3 am-1 pm). Is this normal? Please help.

MBBS
General Physician, Trivandrum
1) maintain a regular sleep routine go to bed at the same time. Wake up at the same time. Ideally, your schedule will remain the same (+/- 20 minutes) every night of the week. A good sleep hygiene routine promotes healthy sleep and daytime alertness. 2) avoid sleeping during the daytime. It can disturb the normal pattern. 3) avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol near bedtime. While alcohol may speed the onset of sleep, it creates problems in he second half of sleep. 4) exercise can promote good sleep. Exercise should be taken in the morning or late afternoon. Yoga, can be done before bed to help. 5) have a quiet, comfortable bedroom. Set your bedroom thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Generally, a little cooler is better than a little warmer. Turn off the tv and other extraneous noise that may disrupt sleep. Background'white noise' like a fan is ok. If your pets awaken you, keep them outside the bedroom. Your bedroom should be dark. Turn off bright lights. Have a comfortable mattress. 6) avoid heavy meals close to bedtime. 7) ensure adequate exposure to natural light. 8) avoid emotionally upsetting conversations and activities before trying to go to sleep. Do not think of, or bring your problems to bed. 9) stop using all your digital devices and stop looking at digital screens be it mobile phones or televisions at least 1 hour before the time you plan to sleep. Instead try reading a fiction book near bedtime so it makes you help relaxed and de-stressed.

I have dns - deviated nasal septum, should I go for any surgery to remove it or go for any medication? will homeopathy work in this case? and someone told me to do yoga breathing exercise, is that helpful?

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Guwahati
Dns (deviated nasal septum. As the name suggests, its obvious that there is deviation of septum. Septum is made of bone & cartilage parts, so again it is obvious that it can not be made straight by any of the medicine on earth. Surgery is must for correction if symptoms present. Symptom less dns has no role of surgery except cosmetic reason. Thanks.

My son is 8 years old, he has enlarge nasal polyps. What to do for treatment. And how can be cure permanently. It block his nose during respiration.

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Guwahati
Hello and most welcome to lybrate, regarding your concern about your son having polyp, I would like to say that generally polyps with severe clinical symptoms like breathing problems, pressure symptoms with facial deformity, we should ideally go for surgery, but in small polyps I usually try with steroids like long course mometasone spray. Regarding your son, as he has breathing difficulty, first you have to get a ct pns done and he might need surgery. I sincerely wish him an early recovery and a healthy life ahead.

I have earache. My ear is paining a lot. What should I do. Tell me some ear drop.

MBBS, MS - ENT
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Ahmedabad
Earache can not be relieved by any random drops. There can be many reasons for earache. You have to get an ENT surgeon's opinion for cause of it and take treatment accordingly. By the time you visit ENT surgeon you may take mild painkiller which suits you.
