What is the effective remedy for mouth ulcer, my wife is suffering from the same for last few days and she has applied the Smyle Mouth Ulcer Gel but no relief as yet?

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Gorakhpur
What is the effective remedy for mouth ulcer, my wife is suffering from the same for last few days and she has applie...
Let your wife visit a dentist for real cause. Sometimes a sharp tooth cusp is the culprit. Otherwise she may be suffering from recurrent aphthous stomatitis for which only smyle gel or dologel CT or orasore application will not help to stop recurrent ulcers. It requires scaling and polishing of teeth, regular tongue cleaning and specific medications such as Amlexanox gel, rexidine m forte gel combined for 5 to 7 days. Once ulcers disappears she has to maintain oral hygiene by proper brushing, using chlorhexidine mouthwash twice daily. Taking vitamin B complex, selenium, zinc etc. Will add to her general body health and hence the immunity. Even then, if it fails, which happens in many cases, contact us.

Loose Teeth: What Are The Reasons Behind It?

BDS, MDS Endodontist
Dentist, Noida
Loose Teeth: What Are The Reasons Behind It?

You know you're suffering from loose tooth if it moves when you brush or while eating. In fact, loose tooth is an indication that you may suffer from an underlying dental problem. Thus, it's vital to be aware of the problems that may cause you to suffer from tooth mobility.

Here are some of the culprits behind your loose teeth.

1. Periodontal disease - Loose teeth problem can occur if you suffer from periodontal disease. This oral condition causes the bone and ligaments that surround your teeth to get weakened. The problem begins to occur once plaque begins to form on your teeth, more specifically around the gum line, leading to the formation of tartar. Eventually, the gums become inflamed causing periodontal pockets to form around the affected tooth or teeth. The result is bone loss and damage to the connective tissues.

2. Osteoporosis - The condition of osteoporosis sees the bone density around your teeth decreasing, resulting in the problem of loosened teeth. Women with osteoporosis are known to be three times more prone to tooth loss than women who don't suffer from this problem.

3. Pregnancy hormones - High estrogen and progesterone hormones during pregnancy can influence the bone and ligaments surrounding a tooth to loosen. If not accompanied by any other dental complication like periodontal disease, it only causes the problem of tooth mobility.

4. Traumatic injury - The connective tissue and the periodontal ligament that keep your teeth in place can become stretched if extreme pressure is placed on them. Whether it's an accident or a fall, any kind of strain to your mouth can harm the bone and ligaments that surround your tooth. Even grinding your teeth or clenching of the jaws can cause the periodontal ligament to get stretched, causing the loose tooth to occur. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

I had a gap (1-2 mm) between my up front two teeth. To remove gap what I should do? Can I use bands available in market?

I had a gap (1-2 mm) between my up front two teeth.
To remove gap what I should do?
Can I use bands available in market?
PLease do not try to close the gap on your own with bands which will also not work. You need to wear braces for at least six months or one year depending on the amount of gap. Please visit an orthodontist.(dentist ). If the gap is very small then it can be filled with cement.

All About Tooth Extraction

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
All About Tooth Extraction

A healthy set of teeth is essential for good living. However, teeth problems are widespread and you are susceptible to it at any age, at any time. Though there are medications available for tooth problems, sometimes extraction of the tooth remains the only plausible solution.

You may have to undergo tooth extraction for multiple reasons. Some of them are:

  1. Unaligned teeth: In case you are suffering from unaligned teeth, chances are that you may suffer from what in technical terms is known as "crowded mouth." In such a situation you have difficulty in eating as there is not enough room for the teeth in the mouth. Extraction of tooth, in this case, is the only way to rectify it and align the teeth in a better fashion.
  2. Infection: Sometimes if you suffer from a tooth infection, it tends to quickly spread to the pulp, affecting and damaging the blood vessels and different nerves. Though medications are available, if the intensity of the infection increases, extraction of tooth remains the only option.

Procedure: There are different steps that are involved in the extraction of teeth. They are:

  1. Local anesthesia: Like all other surgeries, administering a local anesthesia is the first step. If you are undergoing a tooth extraction, the dentist or the surgeon will inject anesthesia that will create numbness and soothe you of the ensuing pain.
  2. Cutting away gum and bone tissues: After the anesthesia, the dentist will proceed to extract the infected tooth. In order to do this, the doctor cuts away the gum and the tissues covering the tooth. After the root of the infected tooth has been exposed, the dentist would then with the help of forceps, sever it from the jaw.

After the surgery, you must observe certain precautions to expedite the recovery process. Some of them are:

  1. Take painkillers: After the tooth extraction, the possibility of suffering from an ensuing pain is incredibly high. Therefore, in most cases the dentist prescribes certain painkillers and you must take them regularly.
  2. Change the dressing: The operated area will be covered with bandages to preclude any infection. However, the dressing must be changed from time to time. If the same dressing remains for a long time, chances of an infection increase.
  3. Complete rest: After the extraction, you must take complete rest and not engage in any form of physical activity.
  4. Avoid certain foods: Just after the surgery, the operated area remains tender. Therefore, you must eat food that requires less effort to chew like soup, pudding, ice cream etc. You must also abstain from smoking and drinking for some time.

My body is always heat as compare to others. I often get wound in my mouth. Why this happens to me?

DNB (ENT), MBBS

Hi This can happen due to vitamin deficiencies, especially such as vitamin c and b12. It is recommended that you take capsule becosule z once daily for 4 weeks. This may show improvement in your symptoms.

I have Gingivitis and I get unfit for this in army during medical verification. So give me some helpful tips to cure this in between 20 days.

I have Gingivitis and I get unfit for this in army during medical verification. So give me some helpful tips to cure ...
Gingivitis is the earliest form of gum disease that can resolve with good oral hygiene. Your dentist will evaluate your mouth during a dental cleaning appointment and removes any plaque and tartar that is building up on your teeth. When a person has gingivitis, the goal is to rid the gums of inflammation and restore them to a healthy pink color. Although you have been brushing your teeth for decades, the correct technique is most important. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and place it at a 45-degree angle against your gum line and massage the gums in a back and forth motion. Then, move the brush up and down and back and forth motion using short strokes to clean the outer and inner surfaces of your teeth and the chewing surfaces too. Be gentle with brushing. Spend at least two minutes brushing and replace your toothbrush when you see the bristles becoming frayed. Don't forget to rinse using warm water with salt. Vitamin c makes wounds heal faster. It may not cure the gingivitis itself, but this supplement will help bleeding gums to resolve.

Good evening! The nature of wisdom is always piercing the tissues and comning out. If you cannot bare the pain then you can go for extraction. Usually the wisdom tooth is Non-Functioning tooth. Thank you!
