I am suffering from leg pain from last 15 days and in legs swelling also and lot of pain in my legs.

I am suffering from leg pain from last 15 days and in legs swelling also and lot of pain in my legs.
Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Hamstring stretching towel hamstring stretch lie on the back, supporting the thigh with the hand or with a towel wrapped around it. Slowly straighten the knee until a stretch is felt in the back of the thigh, trying to get the bottom of the foot to face the ceiling, one leg at a time. Hold the position initially for 10 seconds, and gradually work up to 20 to 30 seconds. Seated hamstring stretch while sitting at the edge of a chair, straighten one leg in front of the body with the heel on the floor. Then, sit up straight and try pushing the navel towards the thigh without leaning the trunk of the body forwards. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds repeat 3 times for each leg.

My mom facing this problem every winter, this is creak in her leg. It is so painful and very disgusting problem. So please doctor prefer me some cream or medicine or anything. But permanently resolve this problem. So I'm very thankful to you.

Hi. It' s sounding good that you are concern about your mother! Tell her to take homoeopathic medicines - Petroleum 200/ twice daily and Topi- Azadirachta ointment by Schwabe' to be applied on the area in morning after bathing and at night. Use of Schwabe's Skin Care bathing soap is recommended. God bless you.

I am 40 years old and suffer pain in my right side shoulder and right side back of waist since 5 months.

Kindly show me x rays of your shoulder. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Do hot fomentation any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Do neck & shoulder exercises it may have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Shoulder exercises can be done any time. It should not be done immediately after taking food. Do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan.

I am suffering from hernia. My age 47 years Female, since last 05 years. Belly swelling and some times gas problem tell me what to do.

For relief from Hernia- * Take lots of High fiber diet such as green vegetables, fruits, corn, oats. Such diet soften the stools and avoids constipation. * Avoid coughing & if you are suffered with cough get its treatment as early as possible. If hearing is normal then, problem is cosmetic. Consult plastic surgeon better. But get audiometry done to confirm state of hearing ability.

Wrist Fracture - Understanding Causes and Symptoms

Wrist fracture is a medical term used to describe a broken wrist bone. Wrist is composed of 8 small carpal bones and lower ends of the two forearm bones, such as Radius & Ulna. The fracture may occur in any of the 10 bones that make up the wrist. While some fractures can be severe, most fractures are tiny in nature. The fractures, which are severe, tend to render the bone unstable and a cure for this condition might require a surgery. Open fractures occur when the broken bone spike juts out through the skin. This might lead to an infection in the wounded region.

Causes of Wrist Fracture

  1. The most basic cause of a wrist fracture is injury. Any fall on your outstretched hand (FOOSH) and you might have to nurse a fractured wrist. This type of fracture is common among sportsmen. 
  2. People suffering from osteoporosis have a high risk of getting a wrist fracture. 
  3. Traumatic accidents might also cause severe wrist fractures. 
  4. Repetitive use of wrists leads to inflammation of the tendons present in the wrists (tendonitis). 

Symptoms of Wrist Fracture

A wrist fracture has symptoms that can be extremely painful. The pain escalates whenever you try to move your wrist or flex it, even if you are just flexing your fingers. Sometimes your hand or arm may even become extremely numb when you fracture the wrist. The muscles in the area become tender and swell up. It is almost impossible to move the wrist after it gets fractured. The fracture causes the wrist or rather the hand to appear deformed. The most common deformity being a Dinner fork deformity (Colles' Fracture). The area around the fracture may experience bruising and a fractured wrist also affects the blood flow in the area. You might even injure your ligaments, tendons, muscles or nerves. 

To confirm and check the level of severity, you are generally asked to get an X-Ray done. In order to get a more detailed look at the fracture, you might have to undergo CT or MRI scans as well. Usually, in order to treat a fracture, you will have to wear a splint or a cast and move your hand as least as possible. But keep moving your fingers otherwise they might get stiff. 

Most cases of wrist fractures recover well with a very good return to function.

Lybrate-user, if your wisdom tooth is incorrectly placed or stuck halfway and has not erupted fully because of improper positioning, you will need to get the wisdom tooth extracted to get rid of the problem. If it is incorrectly placed, it is better to get it removed at a early age.

Hi i Am 25 years male, I have pain in my shoulder and new two weeks, two weeks, before I lifted heavy bag, still I have pain in my shoulder and neck, what I do.

Hello lybrate-user. Do contrast bath regularly for 10 days and twice daily. I. E take hot water in one bucket and cold water in another bucket, then dip you legs first in hot water for 3 minutes and then immediately in cold water for 1 minutes and repeat this proced. Ure for five minutes. This will increases your blood circulation and removes all waste products and then do calf muscle stretching.

Sir, I have a light pain in acromion (acromioclavicular joint of the shoulder) since last 2 months. I have used some medicines like paracetamol, gel and massage with warm oil andvnow I am taking Calcium's tablets. But it remains as it is. I feels it every time (it's so light only feel npt painful) but it gets a little pain during exercise and motions. Give me some suggestions. Can I get relief from this? Is it a serious matter?

DEAR, Shoulder pain Physiotherapy uses a number of different physical methods to promote healing. If you are referred to a physiotherapist, they should explain to you what treatment they will use and how it will work. Possible treatments include: •specific shoulder exercises – for example, if you have shoulder instability, you may be given exercises to strengthen your shoulder •massage – where the physiotherapist uses their hands to manipulate your shoulder Read more about some of the different techniques used inphysiotherapy. Shoulder exercises If you have shoulder pain, it's important to keep your shoulder joint mobile with light and gentle movement. Not using your shoulder can cause your muscles to waste away and may make any stiffness worse. Therefore, if possible, you should continue using your shoulder as normal. If your shoulder is very stiff, exercise may be painful. Your GP or physiotherapist can give you exercises to do without further damaging your shoulder. You may be given exercises to do on your own, or you may complete the exercises with supervision from your GP or physiotherapist. You may also have manual therapy, where the healthcare professional moves your arm for you. Manual therapy uses special techniques to move the joints and soft tissues in your shoulder. One review of a number of studies found that long-term physiotherapy was as effective as surgery for impingement syndrome (any type of damage to the tendons in the rotator cuff). I have right hand pain in two months. Y that pain was came?. I was already see ECG. It have no problems.

Pain in the hand can result from a number of factors. Abnormalities or injury of the skin, nerves, bones, joints, blood vessels, and soft tissues of the arm can all result in pain. Arm pain may be the result of referred pain from another part of the body. Please go to a physiotherapist to assess and treat the underlying condition. If pain is caused by an activity, modify or stop the activity. Rest the arm and resume activity gradually. Monitor the response to the activity. Pain experienced in the right hand is usually not serious, but when it is coupled with other symptoms like pain in the leg or tightness of the chest, it may be more serious. Try some home remedies: ice will reduce pain and swelling. Apply ice or cold packs immediately to prevent or minimize swelling. Apply the ice or cold pack for 10 to 20 minutes, 3 or more times a day. Elevate the painful area on pillows while applying ice and anytime you are sitting or lying down. Try to keep the area at or above the level of your heart to help minimize swelling. Apply heat and begin gentle exercise with the aid of moist heat to help restore and maintain flexibility. Some experts recommend alternating between heat and cold treatments. Gently massage or rub the area to relieve pain and encourage blood flow. Do not massage the area if it causes pain. Do not smoke or use other tobacco products. Smoking slows healing because it decreases blood supply and delays tissue repair.
