Diploma In Orthopaedics (D. Ortho)

Hi if you have localized back pain with - no neurological symptoms like numbness, paresthesia, weakness in limbs etc, my advice is: - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a physiotherapist and then at home. - avoid forward bending, lifting heavy weights etc - take an analgesic like diclofenac or something which suits your body for 5-7 days - take muscle relaxant for same time as analgesic to relieve muscle spasm - ice packs at the site of pain, muscle spasm - local analgesic spray can be used but no massage is required let me know in a week time how you are feeling. I will actually ask you to get x ray of involved region of spine (ap & lateral) and send reports across to me so that I can advise further in a better manner. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

My age is 20 but last 2 months big pain in my legs when I walk big pain in my legs plezz suggest me?

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
My age is 20 but last 2 months big pain in my legs when I walk big pain in my legs plezz suggest me?
Most leg pain results from wear and tear, overuse, or injuries in joints or bones or in muscles, ligaments, tendons or other soft tissues. Leg pain can also be caused by blood clots, varicose veins or poor circulation. To relieve mild pain: stay off your leg as much as possible apply an ice pack or bag of frozen peas to the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes three times a day elevate your leg whenever you sit or lie down please go to a physiotherapist if: you have pain during or after walking you have swelling in both legs your pain gets worse your symptoms don't improve after a few days of home treatment you have painful varicose veins if you feel the pain is from muscle cramp then you need to drink a lot of water because poor fluid intake (dehydration) may predispose to cramps also low blood levels of either calcium or magnesium directly cause cramps.

I experience severe leg pain (ainthan) when I do some hard work (which not even include walking or running in any way). What may be the possible reason for this and the CURE for this? You just seem to be having muscle cramps. In childhood also they are quite common and called as growth pains. To get relief observe the following. 1. Take adequate liquids, sports drink like gatorade, fruit juices 2. Stretch your calf muscles daily. 3. You can massage calf muscles and apply cold pack when they pain. 4. Avoid prolonged standing or sitting cross-legged. Change postures in between. 5. Take calcium supplements. 6. Take healthy nutritious diet. 7. If you are taking medicines like diuretics, statins, review with your doctor as they can cause cramps too. If problem persists get your thyroid profile, kidney functions done and consult with your doctor.

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water.

I was experiencing acute pain in my thumb in year 2011 near the joints whereby if my thumb bends at the middle joint, it would not straighten on its own immediately and I had to use my other hand to make it straight which was very painful. On seeing an Orthopedic Dr, it was diagnosed as Trigger Finger. Since physiotherapy sessions did not help, I was advised a 3 course injection shots at the thumb joint of the palm at weekly intervals. These shots were not only painful but it would make me incapacitated for at least 4 days after the shot. I had a relapse in 2012 and had to again take a 2 short course on the thumb joint at weekly intervals. Thereafter my thumb was as good as normal. However now I have yet again started experiencing this pain in my index and middle fingers of both the hands. When I get up in the morning, the fingers are not only very stiff, but they are locked at the middle joint and while straightening them it's very very painful. I do not wish to again go through procedure of taking shots on my finger joints. Can you please advise how can I overcome this problem without taking shots. Is there any alternate treatment in Ayurvedic or Homeopathic medicine? I am 55 years of age and suffer from HBP for which 2 tablets (Nebistar 5 mg & Telmikind 40). I also have a history of acidity, reflux and gastric disorders. Please advise and help. Thanks in advance.

Have you ever felt pain in your great toe or may be ankle/foot/knee/heel/wrist/elbow which was intially in one joint and over the time involved other joints too. Then you might be having increased uric acid levels. Diet is important in such patients. Consume food less in purine content like cornflakes, white bread, pasta, flour, milk and its products, eggs, lettuce, tomatoes, green veggies and fruit juices. Strict no to all high purine foods like meats, seafood, beas, peas, lentils, spinach, cauliflower, mushrooms, beer and other alcoholic beverages.
