Earlier I used to eat pan masala due to which my teeth have become grey or somewhat black near the gums and have gone yellow! How to clean them and make them white again?

MPH, BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
You will need to go for a professional Deep Scaling and Polishing. At any cost you will need to quit that habit as there are chances of Oral Cancer. Also if your not satisfied with cleaning, you can also go for bleaching which will give you a whiter shade of your teeth.

Cause of discoloration ? Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Foul smell comes from my mouth whole day even if I brush my teeth two times a day Please give quick response to my question and give effective ways to eliminate this problem.

BDS
Dentist, Vadodara
Bad breath can be due to accumulation of plaque on teeth, decay in teeth, bad digestion, sour throat, dry mouth, consumption of caffeinated beverages or alcoholic drinks, onions and garlic. So check for the cause. For precautions, go for scaling and polishing. Brush twice daily and use a mouthwash. Also clean your tongue. Increase your intake of water. Limit your food intake to 4-5 times a day. Forcefully gargle with water after you eat or drink anything. Reduce your intake of caffeinated beverages or alcoholic drinks, onions, garlic, oilly n spicy foods especially at night.

My wife is 26 years old. She is having a gap between her front teeth. She was not having this problem till a teeth grow end of her left cheek. How to reduce the gap. Please advise.

BDS, MDS - Orthodontics
Dentist, Mumbai
She might have a habit called tongue thrusting due to which the gap is increasing, she can get it closed with orthodontic treatment (braces)(more natural treatment will take few months, or by composite filling or by veneers /crown (cap).

Hi I mohd khalid khan my age is 18 years from 3 years I am having tooth pain doctors is telling fit a cap I want to ask you the cap is good or not.

BDS
Dentist, Gwalior
Since your tooth is paining, you have to undergo root canal treatment (rct). After successful rct, cap/crown is placed to strengthen the tooth as tooth becomes brittle after rct. So naturally cap is required for strengthening left over part of tooth and it also helps to restore the function of tooth properly.

MDS, Fellow of Academy of General Education (FAGE), BDS

Hello from what you have mentioned it's very clear that you need to go for few implants. Implant costs anywhere between 24k to 30k per implant for standard quality implants. Any prosthetic work like crowns placed over it starts from 4k to 12k depending on the type of replacement done. A

Consumables which are acidic in nature like soft drinks, cordials and fruit juices should be consumed in a limited quantity. They can soften the tooth material which would further lead to the dissolution of minerals into the tooth enamel, resulting in cavities.

I am a 21 year old boy. I have two queries: 1. When will my wisdom teeth erupt? 2. Out of 28 teeth, one tooth has been removed due to germs. Now again one of my teeth got affected by germs. How can I prohibit the further spreading of germs and save my teeth?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Need not worry about eruption of your wisdom tooth. I usually erupts between 18 to 25 provided it is oriented such that it can erupt. Get other tooth treated by a dentist. Extraction is the last resort.

I am 31 year old, I have undergone my molar teeth extraction, but as per doctor it is extracted partial as some part of root is still in side. Is it save or I have to consult another doctor.

BDS
Dentist, Vadodara
If it is not painful, it is safe. In later years, either that root pieces will get resorbed or will come out itself. Just keep consulting your dentist every six months to see that it will not turn infectious.

The deep areas of the teeth can only be reached by thoroughly brushing for at least 2 minutes.

Gum diseases can be treated and reversed in their initial stages very easily. By getting the accumulated tartar and plaque removed by a dentist, there is a chance that they can get better without much ado.
