Palpitations can be related to underlying heart disease. When they are, palpitations are more likely to represent arrhythmia. In Nov 2015 I have undergone angioplasty with 2 stents and prescribed with medicines such as storvas, nitrocontin, plavix, cardace, etc. And advised to go for another angio for one more block. Except at the time of overstrain, otherwise works normal everyday. Recently gone for checkup and except treadmill all other tests like ECG, Echo, Blood etc. Are normal. Is it necessary to for going for another angio or is there any additional medicine that can reduce the block. Pls advise. Tks.

You have symptoms only when you overstrain and difficulty in doing tmt test looks like some block has developed again you can try conservative treatment like mild exercises, yoga, eating seasonal vegetables and fruits, less stress, less or no exposure to pollution, inhaling fresh oxygen through green plants in home, keeping a disciplined lifestyle all of these collectively manage to open up collateral blood vessels of heart which were lying low and unopened, collatetals start functioning and it's as good as nature doing a bypass surgery do observe and take care of nutrition, exercise and other factors.

Avoid egg,,mutton,red legumes,,tomato,,milk and milk product for uric acid..for cholesterol avoid fatty food only..u have to walk regularly to get rid of this..along with the medicines....

Dear lybrateuser, tragedies come in everyone's life and all of us have to face them. Learn to accept facts of life. To overcome depression do not isolate yourself. Keep on having interactions with friends, family members or well wishers. Have a hobby, do some work which gives you pleasure.

Dietary and other lifestyle changes can help you control and prevent high blood pressure. Eating a diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products and skimps on saturated fat and cholesterol can lower your blood pressure by up to 14 mm hg. This eating plan is known as the dietary approaches to stop hypertension (dash) diet. Get plenty of potassium, which can help prevent and control high blood pressure. Eat less saturated fat and total fat. If you're overweight, losing even 3 kgs can lower your blood pressure. Strive for at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. Please For your aunt. Avoid white sugars only Don't follow strict diet chart Go for morning and evening walk daily for good digestion and good health Take salads, vegetable juices, soups, regularly Take all kind of fruits in small quantities regularly as vitamins minerals and fibres in them are good for health Use Multigrain flour for making chapatis.

Thanks for your query. Till the age of 75 years blood pressure below 140/90 is considered to be normal. So as of now you need not worry about taking treatment for high blood pressure. But its recommended that you monitor your blood pressure regularly. Also visit your physician if you get symptoms such as headache, dizziness, chest pain, breathlessness, difficulty in vision etc.

1.For your age pain chest could be due to anxiety, stress, Physical and mental strain,hyper acidity, muscular problem 2. Avoid stress and strain 3.Do regular exercise, reduce your weight if over weight. 4.Control your diet. Avoid oily/spicy/fried and junk food,high calorie and cholesterol rich diet.Take small frequent meals(5-6 meals/day instead of three heavy meals).If you have hyper acidity take one tablet of pan 40 in the morning before breakfast daily for few days 5.Do Yoga, Meditation, deep breathing exercise like pranayama etc. It will calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve stress. 6.Have sound sleep for 7-8 hours daily. 7.Avoid smoking,alcohol, excess tea/coffee, if you are having 8. Drink plenty of water and take rest 9. Take paracetamol 500mg one tablet sos after food up to a maximum of three tablets per day at the time of chest pain 10.if you have recurrent attack of chest pain check your BP, take ECG and consult cardiologist 11.Consult me for further advice

Healthy Foods - How They Can Keep Your Heart Health In Check?

Cholesterol is generally regarded as something bad for the health. As a part of diet, everyone tries to avoid anything that has cholesterol in it. What needs to be understood is that not all cholesterol is bad. There is also good cholesterol, which is actually very essential for body functions. This is required for the production of essential hormones. Inadequate amounts of good cholesterol can lead to problems ranging from simple hormonal imbalances to severe issues like infertility.

The following are some food items, which contain sufficient amounts of good cholesterol and should find a place in your plate. They are essential for various body functions including hormone formation.

  1. Avocado oil: Most oil is considered bad, but avocado oil contains about 70% of good cholesterol and should be used for its heart-healthy benefits. Being a great antioxidant, it protects the heart by reducing inflammation and by improving blood pressure. Eating whole avocado is also beneficial for the heart and the body as a whole.

  2. Buckwheat: This whole grain is rich in many vitamins, quite a few minerals, and is a good provider of dietary fiber. It is also gluten-free and is rich in antioxidants, making it extremely cardio-friendly.

  3. Soy: Too much saturated fat in the diet cannot be digested and the liver converts these and stores it, which adds to obesity. Soy which is a good replacement for animal fat and even dairy products can help improve cholesterol levels and prevent fat accumulation.

  4. Salmon: This is one of the most heart-friendly food items, which is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and good cholesterol. It lowers triglyceride levels and provides a good amount of protein for the body.

  5. Spinach: The cholesterol which settles against the blood vessels is washed off by consuming spinach – in regular quantities at regular intervals. It is also the richest source of lutein, which is known as guardian against aging diseases including hypertension.

  6. Go the nutty way: While most would consider nuts as rich in oils, truth is they are loaded with good cholesterol. Therefore, whether it is almonds or pecans, ground nuts or walnuts, nuts are great for the heart. They are also rich in minerals including calcium, copper, magnesium, and potassium and contain various vitamins. So about a teaspoon of chopped nuts should be on your plate on any given day.

  7. Dark chocolate: Again, like nuts, most of us tend to avoid chocolate, but these restrictions are only for the white ones with sugar. The dark one is extremely healthy for the heart with loaded antioxidants, which prevents clogging of arteries. It is also rich in flavonoids, which are useful in controlling blood pressure and other heart diseases. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a General Physician.

Dear Lalit.....You should stop smoking immediately. You are just 18 years old....Quitting smoking only may not be sufficient for you.....Take 1 single bulb garlic every morning for at least 1 month....It will help to minimise the bad effects of smoking

Nothing. White coat hypertension is not due to disease but only due to anxiety. Several studies have shown that blood pressure lowering medicines can do more harm than good. But, I would suggest you to take ambulatory blood pressure monitoring for 1 day to conclude that you don't suffer from essential hypertension.

Hi, you r over wt by by 15 kg. Try to reduce your weight, this is one of the reasons of heart palpitation. It's may b due to gastric disorder, too.
