Hi. Doctors.i m doing kegel .at starting point I was not able to hold it for more than 5 seconds but I can hold it for about 30 sec n more. Is this right practice to do kegel. The muscle you are working during kegels is called the PC muscle (pubococcygeus), and it’s the same muscle you use when you control the flow of urine. Think about when you go pee – then someone knocks on the door and you stop the stream of pee – that muscle that you contract to stop the flow of urine is the PC muscle. Try flexing it right now.  This is also the muscle you use to hold in a fart. If you haven’t found it yet, pretend you are holding in a poop – that’s the muscle. When you do these, try not to flex other muscles, like your stomach or thighs. It’s okay if you’re squeezing your butt hole (that’s part of the PC muscle), but don’t squeeze your butt cheeks. Variation A kegel exercise routine will consist of contracting this muscle several times, at different lengths, and resting between reps. Try holding the muscle for 1 second. Try 3 seconds. Try 8 seconds. When you are new to this it is difficult and normal if you can only hold for a second or two. You will get better with time! A workout routine will involve a few sets of these. For example, squeeze for 5 seconds, rest for 5 seconds, and do that 10 times. Now wait a minute and repeat the whole thing again. Some people prefer a static routine of 2 sets of 10 reps at 5 second holds, others come up with varying sets.  Also try doing these in different positions. Try standing up, sitting down, crouched, and in the fetal position. Try legs apart and legs closed. Some positions may be easier for kegeling than others. Tips Remember to breathe – holding your breathe during these will make it more difficultYou may get turned on while doing these. That’s fine, just go with it! You’re only doing 2 things – tensing or relaxing those pee-stopping muscles. It’s best to do on an empty bladder, so if you have to pee, go to the bathroom before. As with any exercise, the more you stick with it, the better you become. Don’t give up if you don’t see results in a day – you’ll see results within a week!

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. MASTURBATION is normal, natural and never unhealthy. But Excess masturbation can kill your sexual stamina. Excess masturbation can also cause anxiety disorder, depression and thereby erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation etc. You can be sure; there are no side effects to masturbation if you are able to restrict it to thrice a week. Migraine headache is characterised by 1. unilateral pulsating headache 2. associated with nause/vomiting and 3.photophobia / phonophobia. 4.migraine headache increases with daily activities. 5. Without any medication migraine will last for 4 to 72 hours. 6.There are triggers for migraine like sun exposure, certain foods or smell, lack of sleep, excess caffeine etc. The triggers are variable for different patients. Normal headache is generally band like pressure at forehead and temple. It relieves within few hours without medicines. It doesn't increase with daily activities. To treat your headache consult a pain specialist in your city . Diagnosis of type of headache can be easily made by detailed information of your headache pattern. The fluid that male organ secrets during intercourse is called 'semen' this is the liquid that is visible. It contains millions of invisible microscopic male counter part of female eggs and are called 'sperms'. These sperms fertilize the eggs. After intercourse the non-visible sperms remain inside vagina, they swim like fish and the visible liquid semen comes out of vagina. It is perfectly normal. You don't need to confirm it.

If steroids are given orally for long periods of time than only it will cause bone shrinkage but if given through nebulisation than it won't have any side effects

If unmarried night fall are natural and not to worry. Fall testicle size also do not matter if no pathology. Get ultrasound scrotum. For erection problem consult a urologisy/ psychiatrist.

Hi lybrate user, yes their is high possibility of getting pregnant with unprotected intercourse on fertile days. If you are not using condoms then their is high risk for sexually transmitted diseases also.

10 STEPS TO HELP YOU SLEEP BETTER

Not getting a good night’s sleep can create havoc with your physical and mental wellbeing. With today’s fast paced lifestyles and poor sleep habits we are depriving ourselves from the endless benefits that are hidden in a good night’s sleep. Here are simple ways that can dramatically improve your sleep

Try and sleep in complete darkness. Get rid of night lights and any other light that is coming from outside. This helps in secreting your sleep hormone (melatonin)
Maintain your room temperature at 21°C. Keeping your room temperature too cool or hot leads to restless sleep
Move alarm clocks and other electronic devices at least 3 feet away from your bed
Reserve your bed for sleeping. Do not work on your laptops in bed and avoid texting and watching TV in bed
Avoid staying in bed if you cannot get sleep. Go to another room for 15-20 minutes and engage in a relaxing activity like reading from a book (not your phone or laptop) or meditation
Do not keep checking the time continuously in bed as this can make you more anxious and delay your sleep further
Avoid drinking fluids 2 hours before going to bed. This will minimize the frequency of using the washroom and help you get a deep sleep
Include protein rich food in your dinner. Proteins are rich in L-tryptophan that helps in producing serotonin( relaxing hormone) and melatonin(sleep hormone)
Do not have caffeine, alcohol and sugary drinks around bedtime. They release adrenaline and that will make you more wakeful
Exercise regularly for 30 minutes each day( ay time of the day except around bedtime)
Make sure you spend 15-30 minutes in the morning light. This helps in regulating your sleep/wake cycle

Testosterone is the most important hormone that drives most of the male characteristics from their physique, stamina, energy, vigor, voice, to sexual performance. Higher the testosterone level, greater the masculine characteristics. It is no wonder then that most men want more testosterone flowing in their system. There are simple ways to increase testosterone flowing in your system; read on to know more.

  1. Eat more fat: While staying away from fat is the most common thing to do when body building, remember that testosterone is mainly made of cholesterol. So, a diet rich in fat directly translates to more testosterone. Mono-saturated and saturated fats are proven to be extremely beneficial for good testosterone production. Red meat, eggs, coconut oil, dark chocolate, cheese, peanut butter, fish, avocados, almonds, olive oil are all proven to be highly beneficial in improving testosterone levels.
  2. Include ingredients for testosterone: Include foods that are rich in zinc, vitamin D, D-aspartic acid, Di-indolyl-methane (DIM). Foods rich in zinc promote higher levels of testosterone production and so are advisable. Vitamin D is the most important vitamin in the production and availability of free testosterone in the body and is highly recommended for people wanting to have higher testosterone levels. D-aspartic acid is an amino acid that is essential for proper functioning of the neurotransmitters that control testosterone synthesis and release into the system.
  3. Modified gym routine: Contrary to what most people may think, long hours in the gym does not help you stay in better shape. Regular, drawn-out workouts with long rest periods and too many exercises aimed at building endurance are not necessarily good for testosterone levels. Optimal duration is about an hour, after which cortisol levels (stress hormones) go up and testosterone levels go down. Shorter rest periods between sets are also shown to be more effective. Also, there are specific exercises and workouts which are aimed at improving the testosterone levels. These workouts could be aimed at the legs, arms, back, chest, or shoulders. These moderate to high-intensity protocols stress large muscle masses, which stimulate testosterone production.
  4. Beat the stress: None of our lives are free of stress, but the trick lies in managing them well. Whether you have physical or mental stress, try and work on reducing it, by meditation, music, or any relaxation technique that works for you. Even cardio exercises, if not overdone, are a good way to relax. Try not to fatigue yourself during your workout. Have a well-balanced meal and a good sleep to manage stress better.

Talk to your instructor to know more about ways to improve testosterone production. Higher levels of testosterone take the quality of life to a different level.

The average size of the erect/aroused penis ranges from 3.2 inches to 6.5 inches, but even lower sizes don't make a difference to the ability to have sex, please one's partner or have children. The aroused female vagina only extends between 3 to 4 inches, and even here, the most sensitive parts are towards the outside. Girth is a little more important, but most important is how you use it. So please focus on the person you are with and make sure your partner enjoys the experience - there is really nothing more important than that in sex. Anyone who tells you that size is important doesn't really know what he is talking about. The only way to increase penis size or girth (thickness) is through surgery, but this is painful and risky. None of the medicines marketed to increase penis size work and they are a waste of money.
