All about Menorrhagia

Fellowship In Minimal Access Surgery, MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Hyderabad
All about Menorrhagia

Menorrhagia is menstrual condition characterized by an abnormal loss of blood or heavy, prolonged bleeding. Although heavy bleeding is not uncommon in premenopausal women, menorrhagia is a severe condition which generally interferes with your daily activities. If your vagina bleeds irregularly or between periods, in addition to such heavy bleeding that at least one pad or tampon gets soaked every few hours, it is highly recommended that you seek medical attention.

Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of menorrhagia include:

  1. Soaking through more than one tampon or sanitary pad for every few hours
  2. The need to use double sanitary protection
  3. Heavy bleeding for weeks on end
  4. The need to wake up at night to change your sanitary protection
  5. Restriction of daily activities due to heavy menstrual flow
  6. Symptoms of fatigue, such as excessive tiredness as well as shortness of breath

Causes
Although the exact causes are unknown, here are a few causes that may be responsible:

  1. Hormonal imbalance is when there is an hormone imbalance, the endometrium develops in excess and sheds away with menstruation
  2. In Ovary dysfunction, if your ovaries do not ovulate, your body won't be able to produce the hormone progesterone resulting in a hormonal imbalance problem which may lead to menorrhagia
  3. Uterine fibroids are benign tumors which start appearing in your childbearing years
  4. Polyps are small benign growths found on the uterine lining
  5. Adenomyosis occurs when your glands from the endometrium becomes embedded in the uterine muscle
  6. By using Intrauterine device (IUD) menorrhagia may occur as a side-effect
  7. Pregnancy complications, for instance, an ectopic pregnancy can cause it
  8. Inherited bleeding disorders, such as von Willebrand disease
  9. Certain medications like anti-inflammatory drugs
  10. Other medical conditions, like pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis

Treatment
Treatment for menorrhagia depends on a number of factors like the cause and severity of the condition, or your tolerance for specific therapies or medications.
Some drug therapies for menorrhagia include:

  1. Iron supplements
  2. Tranexamic acid
  3. Oral progesterone
  4. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
  5. Oral contraceptives
  6. Hormonal IUD

If drug therapy is ineffective, other treatment options may include:

  1. Dilation and curettage
  2. Focused ultrasound ablation
  3. Uterine artery embolization
  4. Endometrial ablation
  5. Myomectomy
  6. Endometrial resection
  7. Hysterectomy

Pregnancy is negative and this is confirmed. Consult doctor to have medicine for artificial menstruation. If the problem persists in next month, you have to have some basic tests done.

I want to do anal sex with my wife .is it right thing to do ? how should I do it.

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Hello- you can do anal sex with your wife but you should keep these things in mind. Anal sex may or may not be pleasurable for men but it can cause severe pain and bowel problems in women. Anal sex if done without wearing a condom can cause sever infection of penis as anus harbors numerous harmful bacteria and toxic waste products for removal. Anal sex done without proper lubrication can cause anal fissure in women.

Face Lift Surgery - Complications Attached to It!

MBBS, MD - Dermatology
Dermatologist, Faridabad
Face Lift Surgery - Complications Attached to It!

It is no longer possible to tell a person's age by simply looking at the face. With the advances in cosmetic surgery, today it is very easy to effectively hide your age. A facelift or rhytidectomy is a cosmetic surgical procedure to reduce wrinkles and improve the overall appearance of your face. A facelift is considered a relatively safe procedure.

However, like any other surgery, it is associated with few risks.

  1. Pain: While a facelift surgery itself is usually performed under anesthesia, recovering from it might be a little painful. Your skin may also feel numb for a few days. Taking the pain medications prescribed by your doctor can help relieve the pain. However, if the pain is severe or if it suddenly increases, you must consult a doctor immediately.
  2. Swelling: Don't worry if your face looks swollen after the surgery. This is simply your body's natural reaction to the surgery. You will notice this swelling reduce in a few days. Though most of the swelling will subside in the first few days after the surgery, it can take a few weeks before the swelling completely subsides.
  3. Bruising: Like swelling, bruising is a natural reaction to surgery. In most cases, people see pronounced bruising especially around the eyes in the first few days after the surgery. Most of this bruising will fade away in a few weeks, but it may be a few months before your skin is clear again.
  4. Scarring: As your face heals after a facelift surgery, scarring can be seen wherever the incisions were made. Most cosmetic surgeons will make these incisions along the hairline or the natural creases of the face. This ensures that the scars are not prominently visible. In most cases, scarring fades with time till it is barely noticeable.
  5. Bleeding and hematoma: A certain amount of bleeding is normal after a facelift surgery. However, excessive bleeding or uncontrolled bleeding can lead to the formation of hematomas. A hematoma can be defined as a blood clot that occurs under the skin and outside a blood vessel. This can leave the area swollen and a minor surgery may be required to flush out the clot.
  6. Loss of sensation: Sometimes, nerve endings may get damaged during a face lift surgery. This can result in temporary loss of sensation in the area and difficulty in controlling the facial muscles. There may also be numbness or a tingling sensation around the incisions.

Hello- hot flushes occur often during menstrual cycle, or they may start just before, but they usually continue after a year or two during peri menopause. In some cases, many women experience hot flushes after menopause as well. Tips for handling hot flushes 1. Avoid triggers drinking alcohol, consuming caffeine, eating spicy foods, or smoking can raise your body temperature, which may result in hot flushes. Also, warm environments and tight clothes can cause hot flushes. 2. Dress in layers layering your clothing can make you more comfortable. Even on the coldest days, you can remove your coat or sweater after a hot flush episode. Also, wear natural fabrics (e. G. Cotton) to prevent hot flushes. 3. Calm down take deep and slow breaths from your abdomen for 15 to 20 minutes regularly. This will help you manage stress and prevent hot flushes. Relaxation techniques, such as meditation and yoga, can also help. 4. Keep hydrated it is important to stay hydrated. Drink ice water before a hot flush begins. Also, cold beverages can help reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flushes. 5. Ambient temperature keeping a glass of ice water on your nightstand will help you get your hot flushes under control. In addition, keep the room temperature cool or use a fan. 6. Herbal remedies many women start using herbal remedies to prevent hot flushes. For example, soy contains phytoestrogens, which mimic estrogen in the body. The downside of this remedy is that it doesn't encourage the body to produce its own hormones.
