My baby is 6 months old. Her weight is 5 now:-(breast fed till 3 months. Now she is poor in eating. Not drinking milk (nan pro 2), cerelac, apple juice. She is not opening mouth for anything. Much worried. Could you please tell anything to feed her tat boosts her weight and energy. She is 6 months but look like 3 month kid. Please help. Please tel me how to make her eat and what foods or best for babies.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
3 months is too early to stop breastfeeding. We recommend at least till the age of 2 years. You should gradually introduce semisolids one after the other instead of dumping all at a time. Birth weight usually doubles by 5 months in otherwise normal children. You can still start breastfeeding. Milk starts secreting.

Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them.

A baby of 4 months don't take milk. So what should be given to a baby which will act as his food or milk.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
From four months you can give home made semisolids and other milk with spoon and never feed in bottle

I am 25 year old & I always do masturbating daily 3 to 5 times how should I control please help me.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
It's normal as 90% of males engage in that act but you should not do it excessively as it may hamper your routine work and also you should not do it in the public area. Try to engage in other mind diverting activities like reading, writing etc.

My son is suffering from cough and throat infections and due to that he's having pain in his left ear. What should I do in this condition?

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS
Pediatrician, Ponda
Use regular medicine, don't put any thing in ear. Ear pain in cold is due to nasal blockage so use nasal drops, steam inhalation to relieve blockage which will take care of ear pain. Continue antibiotics for 14 days.

Hello doctor, My daughter is 3 years old and yesterday I got some reasons what could be symptoms of autism. 1) she does not have eye contact except her parents with other people, 2) does not want to play with other children 3) enjoying to watch TV and phone when she watching in phone she does not want to give it back 4) become very stubborn and feel irritated and started crying to get any thing 5) speak everything even the Hindi mantra also but sometime the speech is not so clear 6) sometimes live in her own world in school Are all these symptoms of autism and the therapy could help my child to be normal as other children. And can my child also study in regular schools. Thank you.

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Mumbai
Yes. It may be autism. Visit for a detailed neurodevelopmental and speech therapy consultation. She may also need neuro occupational therapist if the diagnosis confirmed by clinical examination. Most kids with autism who have fluent speech do well with adequate support. Do not get scared. Also do not feel that child is too special or superkid just because there is suspicion of autism. Your kid is normal till evaluation. There are some medicines that may be added for support.

Dear user. I can understand. You already know your child is only 6 years and this is too early to worry about his future. But you should be able to shape his future if you try better. Children are quick learners and their behavior is always learned behavior. There has to be a reason why he is scared about competition. Find out and let me know. Once I know the reason, with just a counseling session we can clear his fear. Take care.

My son is 16 month old now. He had 2 surgery when he was 6 month and another when 8 month. Pu valve at 6 month and circumcision at 8 month as he was having urine infection. And due to which his left kidney is working 10%. So my question is can his kidney be work more better. Now he is okay.

DNB (Urology), MS, MBBS
Urologist, Delhi
Dear lybrate-user. It would be very difficult to explain the things to you in few lines. All that I can say is that there is no medicine to improve kidney function. The aim of all the treatment is to preserve what ever kidney function is left so please keep a proper follow up with your doctor. Thanks.
