Hello lybrate user, arthritis of knee joint is quite common at this age. The management would depend on your symptoms. Firstly, pain would be your major symptom. If you mild pain which is not affecting your daily activities you can be treated with anti-inflammatory medications, painkillers, physiotherapy to improve the muscle strength around your knee joint and increase your range of movement. If pain is not adequately controlled and you still have difficulty in your daily activities then you might want to think of some surgical management. Secondly, if severe stiffness hinders your daily activities and does not improve with physiotherapy exercises then again you might require an earlier surgical intervention. Thirdly, if you already have a severe deformity at the knee joint then again you might benefit with an earlier surgical intervention. I would also advise you certain life style modifications such as weight reduction, avoiding heavy loads on your knees such as climbing stairs, squatting, sitting cross legged. But must continue your regular exercise and walking. If it pains then do it with breaks in-between. Surgical intervention would be undertaken only if you do not respond to above therapy. Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).

Sir, I am around 28 yrs old and I have problem that I was able to seat for some few minutes I always got lots of pain in my leg and even unable to walk for some hours around 5-6 hours sometimes. I feel save only while sitting on high chair it feels good to me. Due to the sickness sir I was becoming thinner and thinner these days. Please help me sir. I'll be really grateful with you sir.

The symptoms described by you do not point to a particular diagnosis. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. It will be better if you visit me in person. Any way take bio d3 max 1tab odx10days ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days.

The primary causes for lumbar spondylosis are repetitive movements or heavy lifting, strain to the joints, poor posture, inadequate/incorrect nutrition, tension in the muscles, weight problems, or even emotional problems. Ice and Heat: Ice is a great pain reliever as it temporarily blocks the pain signals and also helps in reducing the swelling. One needs to wrap an ice pack in a towel and apply on the affected area for up to about 20 minutes. For the first couple of days, ice pack needs to be applied more frequently but later it is needed only after exercise and physical activities. After the first couple of days, heat pack is required to stimulate the blood flow and also to reduce the pain. One needs to dip a towel in hot water, wring it and apply on the affected area. It must be noted, however, that only ice needs to be applied for a couple of days before the application of heat because heat can aggravate the inflammatory process. Ice is one of the best home remedies for lumbar spondylosis. Poor posture is one of the reasons for back pain. Hence, posture correction is really helpful. we need to keep moving the spine after the first few days. Complete bed rest is never recommended as this can actually worsen the spine because that will only make the spine inflexible and rigid. Stretches do wonders to our back. Hence, once the pain has subsided, we should start working the muscles that support the lower back. medicated oils is very helpful in relieving lumbar spondylosis related symptoms. Yoga: Yoga is known to alleviate backache symptoms but it is essential to learn the correct poses from a certified person in order to achieve maximum benefits. It is important to remember that there is no single or certain cure for the lumbar spondylosis and above-mentioned tips only help to an extent in alleviating the pain, depending on the severity of the pain. Hence, it is very essential to seek medical attention in case of severe pain, radiating pain, or numbness or tingling.

You have to wear corrected arch supported mcr chappals which will definitely be good for you and for knock knees you have to strengthen the knee by doing simple exercises. Knee cap should be worn to correct the knocked knees.

I am a working woman. Suffering from sciatica . I feel stomach cramps by evening. My in laws place I am not comfortable with food. I usually eat less and no fruit and milk intake is there and at times even have to crave for food and eat out as I am hungry. I have decided to take some supplement drink like horlicks in my office. Hello lybrate user. You should take rhus tox 200 a homeopathic medicine. Along with routine your previous meds and keep exercising after consulting physiotherapist. Many more good meds in homeopathy after detail case taking can b beneficial. Regards.

I'm 57yrs old suffering from knee pain from past 1 months occurs during walking and climbing staircase.No problem while sitting or just standing. I got operated thigh bone due to fracture because of which couldn't walk properly from past 4 months. I vistied doctors in my place. They suggested for x-ray and then doctor advised due to not walking much. The knee bone has been degenerated. Only solution is to walk more. I am doing so but no improvement. Dear you can aproach physiotherapist. He will help you in relieving pain and teach you knee strengthening exercises. You should also change your life style like avoid knee bending more the 90*, avoid squatting, sitting down, use western style for toilets. Avoid stair climbing. Applying cold compresses to the painful knee is one of the best and easiest ways to reduce pain and swelling. The cold will constrict the blood vessels, reducing blood flow to the affected area and thus reducing swelling. It will also give you relief from the pain. 1. Wrap a handful of ice cubes in a thin towel. 2. Apply the compress to the affected knee area for 10 to 20 minutes. 3. Do this two or three time daily until your pain is gone. A bag of frozen peas also works well as a cold compress. You can opt for alternating hot and cold compresses as well for chronic pains.

I have neck pain how many days I have to wear the soft cervical collar. Any rules to follow.

It needs to be investigated. Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform. Collar is a external support for internal weakness. When you make your neck muscles strong by doing exercises, then the collar will be rejected automatically.
