I am suffering from nose bleeding particularly during winters. What should I do? prescribe me some medicine.

Nose bleed can be due to many reason like any mass(tumor) or polyp in the nose, deviated nasal septum, systemic illness like hypertension and bleeding disorders. U should consult an ent specialist to rule out any local pathology. U can use nasivion nasal drops 2-2-2-2.

Hi, You need to be examined thoroughly and a detailed history have to be taken. I think you better see an ent specialist. Vertigo could be because of bppv, vestibular neuritis, meniere's disease etc.

How to get cured from sinus problem? I suffer a lot from this. please tell me the solution.

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS

First get a ct scan of the sinuses to find out which sinuses are involved. Then an ent consultation should be done. If you do have a sinus involvement it can be cured with either medicines or surgery.

If this stuck sensation is there than first thing you should get thyroid testing done, and than you may need to hydrate up your body because any symptoms of throat comes with symptoms of nose also dear the symptoms you are getting are due to dryness of the mouth, this is because of lack of mucus in the mouth which is protective layer of our mouth, and is being produced in the mouth by glands which will be helped by good and healthy blood supply to the glands, blood with good blood cells will take oxygen to the gland and gland works, they require oxygen in ample of amount, so if you do not take iron diet on daily basis than this will lead to less of mucus production and hence lead to dryness and thick mucus problem, this thick mucus leads to irritation in mouth hence leads to itching in the mouth, start taking good iron diet on daily basis, and shakes, avoid salty and spicy food.

Decongestants are mainstay of treatment of earblockage due to cold. You should take steam inhalation twice a day. Avoid blowing or sniffing your nose. Do not take chilled things. It may take longer time to improve.

This has to be corrrected surgically as nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusitis. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopically. Everything is explained in this, I hope this will benefit you.

Greetings lybrate-user, there could be multiple reasons as to why the recurrence is happening. A) low immunity secondary to anemia b) infection- either bacterial viral or infectious mononucleosis (all of which present with a more or less similar set of symptoms that you are suffering with. Advice - avoid street food, use sanitizer as much as possible and don't take chances with water. Second if you are already careful about the stuff I mentioned above then you may have to go ahead and investigate the problem. Step 1 - get a throat swab done for culture and sensitivity 2- test for infectious mononucleosis 3 cbp (complete blood test) based on reports you may have to start antibiotics or you may also have to undergo tonsillectomy. If you have more than 6 attacks of sore throat and enlarged tonsils or if you had 3 attacks per year for the past 3 years then you must undergo tonsillectomy. Hope this helps. Thanks.

I used to snore at night and this started few days ago, I do not know why it is happening. I have become a little fat is this because it. Please help me .

BAMS
Ayurveda, Bangalore
Hi, please follow these tips to stop snoring: - reduce your weight if you are obese. - perform pranayama (breathing exercises) everyday. - quit smoking which irritates the mucosal layer of the nose and throat and causes blockage and results in snoring. - quit alcohol and sedatives which relax the throat muscles and results in snoring. - sleep on sides instead on back. - elevate the head by using a thick pillow which eases the breathing. - clear the nose before going to bed. - establish regular sleep pattern. - keep the bedroom air moist by using humidifier; as dry air irritates the mucosal membrane in the nose and throat. - perform throat exercises like repeating the vowels a, e, i, o, you loudly for 2-3 mins few times a day or keeping the tongue behind the teeth and moving it backwards - 3-4 times a day. - anti snoring appliances can also be used.

I have the problem of allergic rhinitis how it can be cured and what are the remedies for it.

MBBS, MS - ENT
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Ahmedabad
Allergic rhinitis may not be very serious disease but may times it becomes very annoying. It is not easy to cure. Cornerstone of the treatment is finding allergens and avoiding it. Which in turn again is not very simple. Try to find which conditions and factors affects you and avoid all of them. Above that you also avoid dust smokes perfumes pollutants. Use facemask in polluted areas. Medicine for allergic rhinitis is called antihistamines which you may require for long period. If nothing works than you may need to go for skin allergy test and immunotherapy. This is in nutshell. But you must visit an ent surgeon and understand all the aspects of particularly your case because there are some structural abnormalities in nose and sinus which may need to be corrected surgically. There are certain complications like ear infection or sinusitis or polyps which if present needs to be treated. There are associated conditions like asthma if present needs to be treated simultaneously.

Ear aches are a very painful condition, which tends to affect mostly children. However, adults can be affected by ear aches as well, which can disrupt their routines and be quite painful. Let's have a look at some of the aspects of ear aches in adults.

Causes of ar aches in adults
There are many causes for ear aches in adults and it may vary from one person to another. However some general causes of ear aches in adults are listed below:

  1. Infections within the body: If you have a throat infection or cold, it could trigger an ear ache as a side effect. Treating the underlying problems will, thus reduce the ear ache or it will go on its own when the symptoms of the cold subside.
  2. Ear canal injury: Adults are most often guilty of putting in sharp objects to clean their ear canal, which may result in an injury and also lead to infections. These injuries can also be infected and cause fluid discharge and ear aches.
  3. Blockages caused by the regular use of ear buds: Using ear buds or other sharp objects to clean the ear will only result in pushing the ear wax further into the ear. This will result in blockages of the ear canal and cause ear aches.
  4. Dental problems: Certain dental problems, such as wisdom tooth growth can result in problems. Even gum disorders have been known to create ear aches in adults.
  5. Jaw pain and facial pain: Jaw pain and even facial nerve pain has been known to affect ears and cause aches as well.

Symptoms that may accompany ear aches
Depending on what the causes of the ear aches are, the symptoms may vary. Still, let's have a look at some of the known common symptoms of ear aches in adults:

  1. Irritability and lack of focus: Ear aches may initially manifest as a headache and make the person irritable.
  2. Poor sleep: Fluids may build up within the body and thus cause issues while sleeping as the fluids may shift from one area to another.
  3. Ear drainage: If in case fluids build up, they may drain from your ear, which could vary anywhere within yellow to dark brown colour. This may even indicate that your eardrum is ruptured.
  4. Hearing problems: Fluid buildup or other underlying causes may also cause hearing difficulties.
  5. Fever: Sometimes, fever may run as high as 104 degree C due the very infections, which may be causing the ear ache.

Whatever may be the cause, if you have ear aches for sustained periods without underlying reasons, you should visit your doctor immediately to get it checked out, so that appropriate treatment can start quickly.

I have sinusitis problem. I am preparing bank exam. My Doubt is that sinusitis is medical issue in medical fitness test. please replay me sir.

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Guwahati
Hello and welcome to lybrate, regarding your concern, sinusitis (initial stage) has no issues. I am actually more accustomed for fitness test for defence personal as I generally get patients for ent check up before defence job interviews. They are generally strict regarding dns (deviated nasal septum) with severe sinusitis, also hearing, smell and taste deficiencies. They are also strict in refraction and color blindness etc. Etc. But for bank purposes sinusitis may be an issue if you have gross dns with severe sinusitis as headache may reduce your work efficiency and ac exposure may not be good for you. Mild cases are spared. I think you should get a ct pns done and consult a local ent surgeon before your interview. Thanks and take care.

I have throat pain once in a week. I am using the medicine also. But no use what is the problem. I have tonsils.
Throat pain medicine may not work if you have not stopped taking spicy fried chilled food. If you scream a lot. Sometimes antibiotics may not be effective in particular case than it may be changed as per your doctor advice or a test called throat swab for culture and sensitivity may be required to find out affecting bacteria and effective antibiotics.

My both ear are operation but my hearing power is low but I do not take a hearing machine what I am do.
Hello lybrate-user kindly share your pta reports and what type of ear surgery done. Then I can help you better. In case of hearing loss due to nerve problem, the less you hear the less sound energy reaches your brain and gradually the nerve starts degenerating. That's why hearing augmentation is important when you are hearing less. It's comparable to audiological physiotherapy for your hearing nerves hope this helps
