Hi, ,I'm 21 year old female. I have recently done my pre employment medical test and in the urine routine examination. Pus cells are around 10-15 hpf and also deposits present. Although everything else is within normal limits and all other reports are also normal. I'm just scared I shouldn't be rejected in pre employment medical cause of this.

It may be because of low water intake. Start drinking plenty of water it will help to remove pus cells in urine. Or it may be because of UTI for that you have to consult the physician.

Hello- Ayurveda recommends a variety of practical techniques for keeping our digestive fire strong. Incorporating these practices into your daily life can strengthen agni and, in turn, facilitate weight loss, improve the metabolism of food, and minimize uncomfortable GI symptoms. Here are six powerful ways to strengthen your agni: 1.) Meditate on a regular basis—Studies are increasingly confirming the genetic changes that occur with regular meditation, which can help restore the body’s homeostasis, including the processes controlling digestion. To achieve maximum benefit, meditate for 20 to 30 minutes, twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. 2.) Do some form of daily movement, whether it is a little yoga every morning, or a daily walk—A recent study published in Diabetes Careshowed that a short 15-minute walk after each meal helped to control sugar spikes after eating. These short post-meal walks were more effective than taking a longer, 45-minute walk once daily. 3.) Don’t overeat—When we eat more food than our stomach can accommodate, we cannot properly break it down. We also tend to produce more acid, thus causing reflux and indigestion. In addition, the amount of digestive enzymes produced may not be able to completely break down the volume of food ingested, which leads to more gas formation, discomfort, or bloating. Ayurveda recommends that we leave one-third to one-quarter of our stomach empty to allow space for our body to easily digest our meal. Here is a simple way to gauge an ideal portion of food for a meal based on your body size: Cup your hands together with your fingertips touching, forming the shape of a bowl. The recommended amount of food for a meal is the equivalent of two of these handfuls of food. Of course, you can eat less than two handfuls if your appetite is smaller. 4.) Sip on ginger tea throughout the day, and with meals. Ginger is known in Ayurveda as the “universal remedy” due to its many benefits for the body, and it has been used for more than 2, 000 years to treat digestive issues. Ginger can relax the smooth muscle of the intestines, thereby relieving symptoms of gas and cramping. A recent study in the European Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology found that ginger stimulates digestion by speeding up the movement of food from the stomach into the small intestine, and helps eliminates digestive discomfort after eating. In addition, ginger can stimulate saliva, bile, and gastric enzymes to aid in digestion of the food that has been ingested. The researchers concluded that these beneficial effects are a result of phenolic compounds, primarily gingerol and shogaol, and various other volatile oils that are present in ginger. Ginger Tea Recipe: Ginger tea is refreshing and easy to make. Just add one teaspoon of grated or sliced fresh ginger root to a cup of hot water. You can prepare a larger batch and keep it with you in a thermos bottle to sip throughout the day. 5.) Eat your largest meal at lunchtime—Our bodies are most able to digest food at midday, when we are active. As studies have found, our digestive system secretes the highest concentration of “digestive juices” around noon, making this the best time to eat our largest meal. In the evening, our bodies are slowing down and preparing for sleep. If we eat our biggest meal at dinner, when our digestive fire is weaker, we will feel heavy and bloated and will be more likely to have difficulty falling asleep. 6.) Focus on releasing negative emotions—You’ve no doubt noticed that your emotions influence your digestion. You may get heartburn when you’re under stress, lose your appetite when you feel sad, or become nauseated or even throw up before a big exam or presentation.

Suffering From Diabetes - How You Can Optimize Your Nutrition?

Suffering From Diabetes - How You Can Optimize Your Nutrition?

What happens in diabetes? Your body is unable to breakdown sugar due to either production of less insulin or because of insulin insensitivity. This leads to a surge of sugar in your blood. High sugar damages key organs like kidneys, heart and nerves inside your body. If left untreated, diabetes cuts down on life expectancy and takes life away from the years a diabetic is alive. Its treatment is managing the quantity of blood sugar through diet and lifestyle changes, including exercise.

Diabetes nutrition
Diabetes nutrition requires cutting down on foods that raise blood sugar or glucose. These are called high glycemic index foods. The glycemic index is the ability of food to raise blood sugar in the body. Usually, it is measured as a reference to glucose, as 100.

So, ‘bad’ carbs are the highly processed carbohydrates like polished rice, white flours and semolina or sooji with high glycemic index. And the ‘good or healthy’ carbs are those that contain more nutrients like minerals, vitamins and fibre and low glycemic index and include fruits, whole grains and vegetables.

Fat is also a problem for diabetics. But why?
Remember, traditionally doctors have focused primarily on blood glucose management, but diabetes management today has overshot the goalpost. More people with diabetes will die of heart disease than of diabetes. Hence, diabetes nutrition management today emphasises not just glycemic control, but also the management of blood pressure, lipids, and other risk factors that may jeopardise heart health. Hence, to optimise diabetic nutrition, apart from low carbohydrate, low fat, calorie restricted diets are also crucial. Low fat diet also aids in weight loss which helps people with type 2 or adult- onset diabetes control blood glucose better.

How can you make the best use of diabetic nutrition?
Diabetic diet can be optimised by taking these simple steps

  1. Eat three meals a day at regular times. This helps your body use insulin better.
  2. Start your day with a good breakfast.
  3. Eat exactly the same quantity of food every day. Avoid overindulgence one day and abstinence the next.
  4. Eat more fibre which means more legumes, lentils and peas as well as fruits like pears.
  5. Use more monosaturated fats that are present in nuts, olives and walnuts.
  6. Avoid red meats- they contain saturated fats.
  7. Stay away from baked foods and processed snacks as they contain trans-fats which are bad for the heart.
  8. Exercise is key to optimising your diabetes diet. It helps you manage both your weight and insulin sensitivity. Even five percent decrease in body weight helps.

These are just some of the ways diabetic nutrition can be optimised to attain multiple goals of attaining proper blood sugar, blood pressure, and lipid goals plus achieve body weight goals for preventing or delaying diabetes complications. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dietitian/Nutritionist.

Dear Lybrate user. Pre cum liquid may or may not contain sperm. There is no chance of pregnancy unless the pre-cum fluid entered inside your vagina or the sperm was ejaculated inside the vagina. Take care.

Let us consider the treatment of a fungal infection in the groin region i. E. Around genitals. Medical treatment we will see in the last. First thing what you need to do is, keep the area clean. Then see to it that the region is always dry because wet and moist environment provides nice place for fungus to breed. Change the underwear daily. Old underwears to be thrown, please buy new ones. Stop smoking, tobbacco chewing etc. Habbits if present. Maintain good diet (without sweet for a few days in non diabetics, diabetics need blood sugar level control). Rx orally tab. Fluconazole 150 mg once weekly locally ointment. Miconazle may be applied twice daily i. E. After bathing and drying the area in morning and at bed time. Hope satisfied. Regards.

I recently read that researchers believe certain foods might cure alzheimer disease. Ls this true? If so which food do this and how much would you have to consume to get benefits?

DPM, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Mumbai
There is no cure for alzheimer's but certain food items are showing promising results in preventing the disorder. Whether they can reverse the damage is yet to be seen. The most researched ingredient is turmeric, or'haldi' research is on to find out a way to administer this substance as a medicine. Till we have an answer, the regular use of this spice in indian cooking in the regular dosage seems more than enough. Taking more of it orally may not really be beneficial.
