Hi doc. Is it possible to recover from cavity naturally or any other way other than drilling and filling teeth.

MD - Alternate Medicine, BHMS
Homeopath, Surat
Apply turmeric powder on your cavity. Leave it for 10 minutes and then rinse your mouth. Another option is to mix turmeric powder in sesame oil and apply it on your teeth. Leave it for 10 minutes and then rinse your mouth.

My Gums are receding and there is a deposition of tartar on the inner side of the teeth what should I do and what precaution should I take and is there any medicine for it. And how should I make my gums and teeth strong. Please suggest me.

BDS
Dentist, Jaipur
Clean your teeth after every meal. For already deposited tartar you should consult to doctor and get oral prophylaxis done because if your gums receded beyound limit tooth becomes mobile. Regular use of mouth wash and must clean teeth from innerside.

I had a root canal treatment on my two front teeth because of an accident last 8 years ago, and now the colour of my teeth is getting yellowish black now what should I do to get the teeth colour white.

MDS
Dentist, Kolkata
I think the colour of the crowns on the teeth must be changing if there have been crowns on the root canal treated teeth. So you will have to change the crowns.

Welcome New Year With Sparkling Teeth

Professional in-office teeth whitening is the most popular cosmetic dental procedure in the world today. Unlike home-use whitening systems that incorporate low-dose bleaching agents, in-office whitening (also known as power bleaching, power whitening, professional whitening or chair side whitening) takes place under carefully monitored conditions which allow for the safe, controlled, pain-free use of a relatively high concentration of bleaching gel – yielding results that are visible immediately.
Advantages of office bleach

No other teeth whitening procedure produces faster results.
This is the safest form of tooth bleaching.
Gum and tooth sensitivity (formerly drawbacks to in-office bleaching) are more controllable today due to thicker peroxide gels (that don't soak into the teeth as much as previous gels) and the use of desensitizers such as potassium nitrate and fluoride.
Stains that are best removed in office bleach

Chairside whitening removes organic stains or discolorations primarily caused by:
Aging. Over time, the teeth darken with a yellow, brown, green or grey cast (which may be due to heredity and/or eating habits). Yellowed teeth tend to whiten most readily.
Consumption of certain foods (notably coffee, red wine, sodas and dark-colored vegetables an
Are you suitable candidate for teeth whitening

This procedure is not suitable for those with the following conditions:
Tooth and gum hypersensitivity. To avoid a hypersensitive reaction, your dentist is likely to recommend take-home bleaching trays with a low concentration of carbamide peroxide – which is not as potent as hydrogen peroxide.
Deep and intractable staining. Some stains are resistant to high-concentration in-office bleaches. In such cases, dentists may recommend a supervised regimen of intensive take-home bleaching or alternatives to hydrogen peroxide bleaching such as bonding, crowns and porclien veneers.
Teeth that have become transparent with age. This is particularly true of the front teeth, which are thin to begin with.

Who should be treating you with braces?

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Jamshedpur
Who should be treating you with braces?
Although dentistry has seen tremendous developments in treatment techniques and materials in the last few decades, public awareness exercises have somehow not been able to keep pace with its rise. As a result most people today will be surprised if they are told that dentistry has nine different specialties.

Orthodontics happens to be the first specialty in dentistry. It deals with prevention, interception & correction of malocclusion (improper bite). Common problems like spacing between teeth, crowding of teeth due to lack of space, protrusion of teeth, un-aesthetic smile etc. Can be easily corrected by timely orthodontic intervention.

A malocclusion can result either due to abnormal position of the teeth or lack of harmony between upper & lower jaws. The best person to treat problems of such nature is an orthodontist. An orthodontist undergoes three years of rigorous training during his postgraduate program wherein he treats hundreds of patients having malocclusion of varying severity. After successful completion of the course he is awarded with the degree of mds orthodontics.

However as a consequence of lack of awareness, a lot of patients still do not seek the advice of an orthodontist for their problem. As a result such patient do not get the desired treatment outcome which predisposes their dentition for relapse after treatment. In addition such patients may also experience harmful effects on their occlusion (chewing efficiency) and may develop tmj (temporomandibular joint) related disorders in the long run. It is recommended that an orthodontic specialist be consulted before undergoing treatment of such nature.

For healthier teeth, flossing daily in a sawing motion is highly recommended. Take the floss to the point where the teeth meet the gums.

Exclusively for a DENTIST- Hi, I had to undergo a root canal and filling and a temporary tooth had to be placed 2 days ago cause my front 3 tooth broke in an accident. They call it trauma. How long should I wait until I can start smoking and drinking alcohol again? And tomorrow will be my last day of medication, a pain killer and an antibiotic. No pains.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Just complete the course of antibiotics. If you don't have any bruises because of trauma, then you can smoke and drink. Smoking and drinking are not good for your health, so if you have controlled the habit then don't start again. Be healthy, be happy.

I have pain in my tooth tried many medicine but my pain is getting more which medicine should I take.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

I have a teeth which is having germs and it needs root canal treatment, what should I do?

BDS
Dentist, Bilaspur
Hello whatever your age be. Saving a tooth is always recommended as extraction can be done anytime in life but chance for saving that tooth would come only once. I haven't seen the xray but if a dentist has advised root canal better do it.

At the age of 23 or 24 for girl the teeth straightening (Braces) is possible? It is effective or the teeth will be straight after completing treatment? How many months needed to complete treatment? What will be cost approximately?

BDS

Relapse rate will be much higher if you get braces at late age. Most appropriate age would be till 21 years. Should go for other treatment options like as available in esthetic dentistry.
