My 6 year daughter has around 6 teeth which came out but only 3 have come back, and it's been quite some time. What should we do?

Increase intake of calcium and vitamin d. If still delayed dentition is there, check thyroid levels and can consult pediatric dentist.

Since baby is ok but passing stool 8 to 9 times that too after feed is not abnormal if gaining weight properly. It is due to gastrocolic reflex. Your baby is still short of expected date of delivery by 9 days. If he is being fed properly, he must be weighing about 2700 gm now if his birth wt was about 2200 gm. So need not to worry otherwise consult doctor.

I have 6 month old baby. He has 100 fever. I gave him liquid crocin. Please suggest.
hi Jaya usually fever is considered when body temp rises more than 100.6 F so no need to give crocine before that but if fever is above it than the cause of fever must be evaluated and than should be effectively treated.but in all cased baby must be active playful and feeding well ,

I have 4 years old kid. He is very stubborn and he is not able to concentrate on his studies and not performing well. Even when I try make him to sit and write he is reluctant and try to avoid what ever ways I tried. Please suggest me what should I do to make my child study properly.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
A 4 year old cannot be expected to concentrate on studies as he is still a playful child and not ready for serious studies. In our system where children are overloaded there're problems. However we can do some tests to make sure he has no disease. Ask me privately so that I can reply you in continuity regards.

You have not mentioned his weight and height. If weight is appropriate for the age nothing to worry. Nowadays putting on lot weight is not advisable as its a associated with various health complicates like diabetes, hypertension etc. To improve his immunity give nutritious diet and engage him in physical activity.

He is probably having allergic rhinitis. He would need regular anti allergic nasal spray or oral medication. Please visit your local pediatrician.

40% infant mortality occurs in first 30 days of birth.
50% of these death can be prevented by simple measure like cleanliness, hand hyegine, preventing hypothermia and breast feeding, which require just public education and awareness.
Important causes of maternal mortality are anaemia, preeclapsia, eclapsia.sepsis and post partumhaemorrage.
These can be prevented by early institutional care, early registration for pregnancy care and institutional delivery.

It is important to know if you are bottle feeding. Then stop bottle and give only breast milk to a 3 month old. Give enuff powder, 1 sachet dissolved in clean water twice a day. Keep in touch with me for regular advice on child rearing.

It's normal weight for the age. Usually children don't eat well during 2nd year as the growth declins.

6 Common Sleep Disorders in Children

MBBS, MD - Paediatrics

6 Common Sleep Disorders in Children

Sleep is the most important aspect for a healthy beign, but for kids it is of utmost priority. Lack of sleep can often have a negative impact on the brain funtioning of kids along with accidents. Listed below are the major sleep disorders in children along with their causative factors:

1. Sleepwalking: It is not uncommon for children under the age of 10 to sleep walk. Despite being harmless on its own, the effects of sleep walking can be dangerous such as stepping outdoors or hurting themselves during sleep. If the child runs into objects while sleep walking, they might wake up and hence further worsen the situation.
2. Nightmares: They might be general or result from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Nightmares, if frequent, can make falling asleep a tedious task. Nightmares in children are common and they usually begin to reduce in frequency by 9 years of age.
3. Obstructive sleep apnea: Snoring might be the result of improper respiration while sleeping and while it isn’t a cause of worry, regular snoring might lead to insufficient oxygen during sleep, thus making shut eye a challenge. It might be hereditary or the result of a deviated nasal septum or blocked nose. The snoring might hamper the quality of sleep.
4. Bedwetting: This is something most children experience, but usually grow out of by the time they turn six. It doesn’t need to be a cause of concern unless the frequency doesn’t reduce over time and more than two instances of bedwetting take place in a week.
5. Insomnia in children: It can be due to a host of factors and coping with changes to their normal lifestyle is one of the biggest triggers. Mental disorders such as anxiety and stress due to a variety of reasons (like the death of a loved one) may also be the cause of distress and lead to troubled or incomplete sleep.
6. Excessive daytime sleepiness: Excess naps throughout the day, always feeling lethargic or experiencing trouble waking up in the morning may be symptomatic of EDS. It isn’t uncommon in adults either wherein despite apparent proper sleep; energy levels seem to be low throughout the day. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

Why Kids Are Such Cold Magnets
On average, kids under age 3 catch six to eight colds a year. "We think that since most children are encountering viruses for the first time, their immune systems aren't able to kill them as quickly as when they encounter them again. What's more, because kids aren't overly concerned about having a runny nose, the virus tends to end up on their hands, clothing, and toys--where it can live for 30 minutes. When another child touches an infected toy and then rubs her nose or eyes, she can catch the cold.

However, having lots of sniffles early in life may protect kids later on. Researchers have found that children who develop frequent colds in preschool catch fewer colds during their school years--presumably because their immune systems have learned to recognize and fight off the bugs. And a German study has found that babies who have more than one cold before their first birthday are less likely to develop asthma by age 7.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Giving Thyronorm 50 mcg just once is not going to cause any harm. But if one gives that repeatedly for more number of days, then can cause symptoms of excess thyroxine. Anyway, if you have realised the mistake and stopped it, then there is no need to worry. Thanks.
