In the wake of numerous Leptospira outbreaks in the city, Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken up an initiative to curb it by having a check on the vaccination status of your pet dogs. Many pet parents have already received a letter from the BMC health department asking for a proof of vaccination of their dogs against Leptospirosis. Most Puppy & Annual vaccinations include Leptospira in their contents (DHPPi-Lepto or RL Rabies+Lepto). Leptospira vaccine is to be repeated annually. If your pet has been vaccinated for it in the last one year,you will just have to submit your pets recent vaccination certificate. If you have any queries,whether your pet has been immunized against Leptospira or not,kindly email us a photograph or a scanned copy of your pets recent vaccination certificate to acumedvets@gmail.com . We will have a look and let you know. This BMC requisition is currently applicable to pet Dogs only, Cats are not included in this.

First Aid for Animal Bite wounds.
(1). Wash the wound with lots of water.
(2). Wash it with a normal soap.
(3). Apply an antiseptic like Betadine/Chlorhexidine.
(4). Contact your Veterinarian for a Post-Bite Anti-rabies prophylaxis.

Remember : Rabies virus is present in the saliva,so transmission can occur even without a deep bite. Rabies can be spread not only by dog bites but also by all mammals including cats, rats,squirrels etc.
