DearDoc. I have chronic cold and have usually blocked nostrils especially in night due to which I face discomforts while sleeping. It becomes so irritating sometimes. Please follow the tips below to feel better: Wear anti-glare spectacles while using a computer. Practice the 20/20/20 exercise. Every 20 minutes, focus/look at an object that's at least 20 feet away, for 20 seconds. Blink often when you are watching TV or working on your computer. Decrease the brightness level of your computer’s/mobile phone’s screen .Don't decrease it so much that you have trouble seeing. Minimize watching television. Use UV protection sun glasses when out in the sun. You can also use artificial tear eye drops (E.g. Refresh) every 2- 3 hours to keep the eyes moist. Make sure you get at least 7 hours of sleep every night.

Sex is an art or game where practice and childishness help a lot says Dr. Vaibhav Lunkad

Lots of men think that women are interested in only size and timing (Just as Pak is India-centric,men are just penicentric). This increases fear of performance and hence ED or Premature ejaculation has become so common. Women are interested more in foreplay or romance and also caring, love talk or patting and fun. Sex should happen and it is not something to be done. Also men unnnecessarily hit the gym in toning and weight gain which further decreases the flexibililty. Copying the porn with oral or kissing further increases the over-excitability and ED. Smoking, tobacco or alcohol or excess beverages or spices also causes severe ED or PE. So just sit with a sexologist and change your life by understanding the art and game of sex, says eminent sexologist of India, Dr Vaibhav Lunkad

Is varicose veins hereditary. My brother had them on legs. Already he had them in bulged visible condition. What happens if we neglect them.

DNB (Radio Diagnosis), MBBS
Radiologist, Hyderabad
Hello, there are many causes of varicose veins. Many times several factors add up to cause and increase varicose veins. Causes include heredity, obesity, standing position jobs, lack of mobility, and previous leg vein clots (deep venous thrombosis). The main cause is loss of valve function in the veins which allows the blood to pool in the leg veins. The patient may get pain, heaviness, dragging sensation. If left, visible bulging can occur as you have stated. In many cases, because of pooling of blood and increased venous tension, we can get swelling of legs, blackish colouration, and ulcer formation.

After meal blood glucose comes 180 is it diabetes? And also I got trouble in inter course it is the effect of diabetes? I have not started take medicine of diabetes? Should I start diabetes medicine?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
After meal blood glucose comes 180 is it diabetes? And also I got trouble in inter course it is the effect of diabete...
Yes it is and you check FBS, 2 HR PPBS and HbA1C and inform me. Diabetes affects all organs in the body – Eyes, kidneys, nerves, reproductive system all are affected, In fact, from toe to hair. For diabetic control, patient and doctor should be in constant touch for regular follow up and advice. The common symptoms are :-Both types of diabetes have some of the same tell-tale warning signs. Hunger and fatigue. Your body converts the food you eat into glucose that your cells use for energy. But your cells need insulin to bring the glucose in. If your body doesn't make enough or any insulin, or if your cells resist the insulin your body makes, the glucose can't get into them and you have no energy. This can make you more hungry and tired than usual. Urinating more often and being thirstier. The average person usually has to pee between four and seven times in 24 hours, but people with diabetes may go a lot more. Dry mouth and itchy skin. Because your body is using fluids to make pee, there's less moisture for other things. You could get dehydrated, and your mouth may feel dry. Dry skin can make you itchy. Blurred vision. Changing fluid levels in your body could make the lenses in your eyes swell up. They change shape and lose their ability to focus. Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. It is a difficult task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose – SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS), & HbA1C (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & life style. For diabetes, hypertension (high BP) and many long-term illness control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take. I assure you a proper guidance. If you keep in touch personally. I am 58 and last year diagnosed to be diabetic. I am taking Glycomet GP 0.5 and Felicitations OD, both one tab daily....
It is important to keep HbA1c <7%. This should be tested 3 monthly. If it is less than &% you can try reducing your medicines after consulting the doctor. Yes it is possible for some people to stop medicines if their blood glucose control is good. Fasting glucose should preferably be <110 mg/dl and 2h post meal glucose should be preferably <160 mg/dl.
