Limit the amount of white bread, sugar, meat, junk food and milk products (cheese, milk, butter, cream.) and increasing fresh fruits, veggies, water and fiber (beans, oats,) also yogurt really helps due to the probiotics. Maybe you could do a food diary for a period, eliminate a couple of items at a time and build up until you have added enough other of good items to make the stools loose. Oatmeal helps out tremendously. Figure out the diet and once you've added enough good things, slowly pull back on the laxatives and pay attention as you go. This could be a food allergy, do some research, usually its lactose (dairy), nuts, sugar, food coloring, preservatives. Try to avoid boxed and processed foods which have more preservatives, calories, fat, high carb. Treatment is available, safe and without side effects in biochemic system of medication. Consult me in private.

1 Holy Basil (tulsi) leaves The leaves of holy basil are packed with antioxidants and essential oils that produce eugenol, methyl eugenol and caryophyllene. Collectively these compounds help the pancreatic beta cells (cells that store and release insulin) to function properly and increase sensitivity to insulin. An added advantage is that the antioxidants present in the leaves help beat the ill effects of oxidative stress. Tip: Consume two to three tulsi leaves whole or about one tablespoon full of its juice on an empty stomach to lower the blood sugar levels. Here are top 10 health benefits of tulsi #2 Flax seeds (Alsi) Due to their high fibre content flaxseeds help digestion and aid in the proper absorption of fats and sugars. Consuming flax seed helps reduce a diabetic?s postprandial sugar level by almost 28 per cent. Tip: Consume one tablespoon of ground flaxseed powder every morning on an empty stomach with a glass of warm water. However, do not have more than 2 tablespoons per day, as it can be detrimental to your health. Here are 11 ways to include flaxseeds in your diet. #3 Leaves of bilberry (neelabadari) plant The leaves of bilberry have been used in Ayurveda for many centuries to control diabetes. Recently, the Journal of Nutrition stated that the leaves of the Bilberry plant contain high amounts of anthocyanidin, which enhance the action of various proteins involved in glucose transportation and fat metabolism. Due to this unique property, bilberry leaves are a great way to lower one?s blood sugar levels. Tip: Crush bilberry leaves in a mortar and pestle and consume 100 milligrams of this extract everyday on an empty stomach. #4 Cinnamon (dalchini) Also known as dalchini, it improves insulin sensitivity and lower blood glucose levels. Having as little as teaspoon of cinnamon per day can improve one?s insulin sensitivity and help controlling weight, thereby decreasing one?s risk for heart disease. Tip: Include about 1 gram of dalchini into your daily diet for about a month to help lower blood sugar levels. Read more health benefits of cinnamon. #5 Green Tea Unlike other tea leaves, green tea is unfermented and is high in polyphenol content. Polyphenol is a strong antioxidant and hypo-glycaemic compound that helps control the release of blood sugars and helps the body use insulin better. Read more 10 types of flavoured green tea that have 20 health benefits. Tip: Steep a bag of green tea in hot water for 2-3 minutes. Remove the bag and drink a cup of this tea in the morning or before your meals. #6 Drumstick leaves Also called moringa, the leaves of this plant are best known for their ability to boost one?s energy. In the case of diabetics, the moringa leaf increases satiety and slows the breakdown of food and lower blood pressure. Tip: Take a few drumstick leaves, wash and crush them to extract their juice. Now take about 1/4th cup of this juice and drink it on an empty stomach, every morning to keep your sugar levels under control. #7 Psyllium husk (Isabgol) Also known as psyllium husk is often used as a laxative. When isabgol comes in contact with water, it swells to form a gel-like substance. This slows the breakdown and absorption of blood glucose. Isabgol also protects the stomach lining from ulcers and acidity. Tip: Cosume isabgol after every meal, ideally with milk or water. Avoid having it with curd as it can lead to constipation.

Inguinal Hernia Treatment

DGO, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Faridabad
Inguinal Hernia Treatment

An inguinal hernia refers to the condition when tissues, such as those which are a part of your intestines, find a weak spot in your abdominal muscles and protrudes outwards. This may often result in a painful bulge, especially at times when you bend over, lift heavy objects or cough.

Usually, if the hernia is small, your doctor might just ask you to wait and leave it untouched. In children, manual pressure may also be applied to reduce bulging. Enlarged or very painful hernias, however, require surgery for the prevention of complications and for relieving discomfort.

Generally, there are two types of hernia repair surgeries which are as follows:

  1. Open hernia repair surgery: This type of surgery is carried under sedation by local anaesthesia, and ensures an incision being made in the groin to push back the protruding tissues into the abdomen. The weakened area is then sewn back, and reinforced with the help of a synthetic mesh, a procedure called hernioplasty. The opening is then closed down using staples, surgical glue or stitches. Though movement as soon as possible is recommended, exertion must be avoided.
  2. Laparoscopy: This is a kind of minimally invasive surgery, done with the aid of local anaesthesia. In this procedure, multiple small incisions are made in the abdominal region and then gas is used in order to inflate it, to make visibility easier.

A tiny camera is attached at the end of a small tube (a laparoscope) and then inserted into the cavity created by the incision. With the aid of the increased visibility facilitated by the camera, the surgeon then inserts other tiny instruments through the remaining incisions for repairing the hernia, with the help of a small synthetic mesh.

This kind of surgery allows your surgeon to avoid the scar tissue which might be present from a hernia and which might have been repaired earlier. Laparoscopy is thus also recommended for those with bilateral hernias (on both the sides).

However, research has shown that this kind of repairing may also increase the likelihood of recurrence or some other complications or risks.
Risks are usually reduced when the surgery is performed by a surgeon who has a lot of prior experience in the same.

I got corn between my big toe and the next finger of right leg. I am using homeopathy medicine presently. Can I know y this corn thing occurs?

B.H.M.S., Senior Homeopath Consultant
Homeopath, Delhi
I got corn between my big toe and the next finger of right leg. I am using homeopathy medicine presently. Can I know ...
Hi, lybrate-user calluses and corns are caused by repeated pressure or friction on an area of skin. The pressure causes the skin to die and form a hard, protective surface. A soft corn is formed in the same way, except that when sweat is trapped where the corn develops, the hard core softens. This typically occurs between toes.
