What if we do steam regular on face? (advantage & disadvantage both) what if we apply face pack regularly? (disadvantages)

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Steaming is a deep cleansing method that uses hot water vapour to open the pores. The steam dilates the skin, making it easy to remove embedded dirt, blackheads and grime from the pores. Steaming helps to loosen blockages and clears pus from pimples. Don't steam skin that has severe pustules (pus-filled spots). No disadvantages are there

I am 30 years male, I have melasma (Hyperpigmentation) last 8 year, I used so many creams but not use, my problem is not cure, please give suggest how to reduce internally.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Hi lybrate-user. Healthy skin is coated in a thin layer of natural lipids, or fatty substances. They keep in moisture, leaving the skin soft and supple. Usually, something in the environment - or something you're doing to your skin - is stripping away these fatty oils, leaving your skin unprotected. Less often, the cause is internal; a health condition, menopause or genetic predisposition is making your skin dry out and causes pigmentation. Ayurveda refers this condition as vyanga. So here by I am advicing some medication along with some general tips to follow. Medication:- 1. Regular massage with tavishi (cold pressed coconut oil) daily twice a day, before bath and in before going to bed. 2. Regular applying a face mask. Arjunadi churna-with honey and leave it for 30 mons 3. Applying kumkumadi lepam daily in the night as a night cream general tips:- 1. Avoid:-a. Alcohol b. Junk food. C. Red meat. D. Dairy products. E. Condiments. F. Citrus fruits. 2. Avoid spicy & more salty food. 3. Take plenty of fruits. 4. Clean & clear face at least 3 times a day.

Fungal infection needs to treated with oral antifungals like fluconazole, itraconazole, terbinafine, griseofulvin if it is extensive. Otherwise creams- amrolfine, luliconazole, clotrimazole, terbinafine, dusting powders- clotimazole, soaps - ketoconazole can be used. White spots can be because of a few diseases so it needs to be seen do that a diagnosis can be made.

My mother has" jhai" on the face. Many medicine n tubes like'panderm' have used to clean them. Can you please recommended us good tubes and medicine for clean them.

MD - Dermatology, MBBS
Dermatologist, Mumbai
Hello, please stop using panderm cream since it contains a steroid and can give side effects like skin thinning, sun sensitivity, reverse pigmentation etc. You could use melaglow rich cream or kojivit gel one pea size drop for full face at night for 2 months. Please use sunscreen like rival or photostable 15 min before sun exposure. Reapply every 2-3 hours. Strict sun protection is of utmost importance in melasma.

Respected sir/madam Am 21 years old ,am using melacare cream and my skin got fair now I need to stop using that cream and my face should remain same fairer ,so please suggest me how to stop using melacare cream with out darkening the skin.

MD - Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Melacare contains hydroquinolone which gives only temporary fairness. Once you stop using it your fairness can be lost. So I suggest you to use kumkumadi tailam for your skin.

Face ko himalya anti acne face wash se wash karo. Phir anti acne face cream istemal karo. Pahle body ki safai karo nahi to koi fayda nahi. Agr roza rakhti ho to eid ke baad shuru karo.
