I am 6 months pregnant and my gynaecologist says i have low lying placenta. Is it risky situation? i want to have a normal delivery. Also i have to commute 2 hours one side for my job. Can i continue it till the end of my pregnancy.

MBBS, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
Gynaecologist, Jamshedpur
If the usg is done around 20-24 weeks, low lying placenta is a possibility ,but its an ultrasound finding only. You need not have to worry as long as there is no spotting or bleeding. ,mostly its temporary ,as the pregnancy advances and relative increase in uterus size takes place, placenta become normal in position.Repeat USG at around 30 weeks.U may continue your job as long as you are asymptomatic .

Sometimes spotting may occur in between periods, no need to worry about that, it may be because of hormonal imbalance. And if you are trying to get pregnant then get a beta hcg test done to find out whether it is pregnancy or not as you had little bleeding only and it stopped. If normal bleeding starts then no need to do the test then get ultrasound done, to find out the cause.

I have severe cramps during my periods starting from one day before period starts till after bleeding stops on 3rd or 4th day. I am 30 years old and married for last 10 years. I do not have children and have decided to remain childless. We currently use condoms as contraception. I visited a gynecologist who clearly said that I have primary dysmenorrhea and there is no cure except for painkillers. He also suggested me to have child to get rid of period pain permanently. I have been thinking about using oral contraceptives hoping that it may reduce pain or if I continue taking oral contraceptives without break, I may avoid having periods. Am I thinking correctly. Kindly suggest what oral contraceptive (name & chemical composition please) would be suitable for me!

what you are suffering is Pre menstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea. This occurs due to some hormonal factors and the dysmenorrhea could be spontaneous or due to some some fibroids, ovarian cysts or pelvic infections. There are many ways to cure dysmenorrhea, but taking pain killers is the cheapest and commonest way Yoga, mild exercises, accupressure, can also be used to reduce period pain For premenstrual syndrome you can take some tablets which are nutraceuticals and this can help your pain factor before menses, but these tablets have to be taken atleast 5 days before menses. Yes, Oral contraceptives can help you with relief from dysmenorrhea and PMS. So you can use them. Unfortunately, ONE CANNOT prescribe on a chat forum like this without a prior consultation in person. so if possible meet a Gynecologist and get examination done. It;s OKAY if one has to take painkillers for pain at each menses, THEY dont harm you so much. Pain killers ALWAYS have to be taken after a good meal But one must take anti acidity tablets too before consuming pain killers. If you paln to remain childless, then the unopposed estoigens can cause some problems like tumors in breast, or uterus ( fibroids) which are common in unmarried elderly patients

Tips for Good Mental Health

1. Know the friends or people who tend to wear you out, and deliberately limit the time you spend with them.
2. Be aware of how your thought patterns change throughout the day, and challenge these thought patterns when they’re harsh or negative.
3. Recognise that it is normal to struggle with your feelings, and feelings can be fickle – so don’t let them rule your life.
4. Set some personal goals that use your talents and your gifts. It’s good to stretch ourselves, and to be all that we can be.
5. Be gentle with yourself when you are anxious, tired and stressed. Be kind, and understanding – and give yourself a break.
6. Self-nurturing is crucial for a healthy self esteem. You need to treat yourself as you would treat a special friend.
7. Remember: we ALL fail. It’s just normal part of life. What matters is you’re learning and you’re changing over time.

Are Tech devices causing neck pain...please read: TEXT NECK SYNDROME...

What is text neck syndrome?
Text neck is the term used to describe the neck pain and damage sustained from looking down at your cell phone, tablet, or other wireless devices too frequently and for too long.
Symptoms of text neck syndrome?
Text neck most commonly causes neck pain and soreness. In addition, looking down at your cell phone too much each day can lead to:

Upper back pain ranging from a chronic, nagging pain to sharp, severe upper back muscle spasms. Shoulder pain and tightness, possibly resulting in painful shoulder muscle spasm. If a cervical (neck) nerve becomes pinched, pain and possibly neurological symptoms can radiate down your arm and into your hand
How is text neck treated?

First, prevention is key. Here are several pieces of advice for preventing the development or advancement of text neck:

@hold your cell phone at eye level as much as possible. The same holds true for all screens - laptops and tablets should also be positioned so the screen is at eye level and you don't have to bend your head forward or look down to view it.
@take frequent breaks from your phone and laptop throughout the day. For example, set a timer or alarm that reminds you to get up and walk around every 20 to 30 minutes. If you work in an office, make sure your screen is set up so that when you look at it, you are looking forward, with your head positioned squarely in line with your shoulders and spine.
The bottom line is to avoid looking down with your head bent forward for extended periods throughout the day.

Next, rehabilitation is important. Consult physiotherapist get it check and start with specific rehabilitation.
