Yes there is a chance of pregnancy. As you r already suffering from irregular periods, ovulation is delayed in such cases. Ovulation is possible in you after 12 march and pregnancy can occur. So please do not take any medicines to get menses for another 1 month. You can check for the pregnancy test 19-21 days from 12th march i. E. On 1st of april if menses does not come by that time and keep repeating the test every weekly till you get menses.

Also take healthy nutritious diet rich in vitamins, minerals & proteins (dairy products). And try conceiving during your fertile period i. E. Day 10 of your cycle till day 20th.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

I am now seven months pregnant and I want your suggestion how to care up my child for next tow month.
There can be indigestion, heartburn, impatience, swellings, more frequent urination, leg cramps anmd backache during these months Inorder to keep yourself fir and freefromthese above problems follow below give steps 1.Sweep and broom your room. 2.Try to broom if sweeping is not possible with your baby bump. It gives enough relaxation to your back , spinal muscles and bones. Your baby inside would have a ‘in a jhoola’ effect when you broom. 3.• Eat a well balanced diet consisting of oats, brown rice, rotis, green leafy vegetables, milk, fish, meat, eggs etc. 4.• Get plenty of rest. and sleep for 1-2 hrs every noon!! 5.• Have oily fish in your diet. Have it in a curry rather than fried. It is beneficial for the brain and nerve development in late pregnancy and for your baby’s birth weight. take fish curry every alternate day for lunch 6.• Take the supplements prescribed by your doctor. 7• Try to use the Indian toilet as gives you a squat position ,beneficial for you at the time of delivery 8• Be stress free. I know it’s not an acceptable term for you in your 9th month with all that curiosity, tension and impatience, but you can get a relaxing massage from your partner 9• Pray well everyday for a few minutes or an hour. It relaxes your mind and body. 10• You can take a bath with warm water in the evening or before you get to bed Have a happy and safe 8th nd 9th month mummy to be

Hello Don't take so much of stress. You can conceive with pcod. Just get your basic investigations for infertility done like ultrasound to see the uterus, tube test to see the patency of tubes and husband's semen analysis. Also tell about your cycle dates and how regular they are. Include some physical exercise to loose some weight which is very important for pcod.

You are having short cycles and though initially, when the cycles resume after delivery, these can be irregular but it will be better to get yourself examined to rule out any infection, hormonal imbalance or any other problem.

Introduction to Prenatal, Intranatal and Postnatal Care

MS- Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Introduction to Prenatal, Intranatal and Postnatal Care

There are three stages of caring for an expecting mother: prenatal, intranatal, postnatal care. This is essential to ensure smooth pregnancy and labour and to keep the mother healthy after giving birth. This care is a combined effort between the doctor and the expectant couple. Here are a few things to keep in mind if you are expecting an addition to your family.

Prenatal care from the moment you realize that you are pregnant, a woman must start taking extra care of her body. This reduces the risks in your pregnancy and at the time of labour. But even before planning a pregnancy, it is important that couples should consult with the doctor, in order to avoid any complications in future. Thus, you should ensure that regular check up not just during the pregnancy, but also before the pregnancy is equally important, so that your doctor can rule out complications arising due to factors, such as Thalassemia, Thyroid, Blood Sugar and PCOS, etc.

The main objectives of prenatal care are:

  • To maintain the health of the mother
  • Detect high risk cases
  • Foresee complications and find ways to prevent them
  • Reduce anxiety associated with delivery

Thus, an important part of prenatal care is to visit your gynaecologist regularly. These visits will be scheduled according to your age and stage of pregnancy. A few other points to keep in mind are:

  • Stop smoking and stay away from passive smoking as well
  • Stop drinking alcohol
  • Avoid contact with toxic chemicals like insecticides etc.
  • Ensure your vaccination is up to date
  • Avoid x-rays
  • Do not start or stop any medication without informing your doctor first
  • Eat healthy food and drink plenty of water
  • Exercise regularly for half an hour daily
  • Get plenty of rest
  • Avoid stress
  • Educate yourself about childbirth

Intranatal care refers to care given to the mother and baby at the time of delivery. The main objectives here are:

  • Cleanliness
  • Smooth delivery without injuring mother or baby
  • Preventing complications
  • Delivery resuscitation for the baby

There are a number of ways to deliver a baby and whatever you choose, you must ensure the presence of a doctor at your side, while delivering a baby. Your doctor will determine the position of the fetus and help you through your delivery.

Postnatal care is essential for 6-8 weeks after the baby is born. During this period, the mother goes through a number of physical and emotional changes and thus requires rest, nutrition and vaginal care. The main objectives here are:

  • Prevent postpartum complications
  • Restore mother to optimal health
  • Ensure problem free breastfeeding

Sharing responsibility is essential for the health of the mother, after delivery. Get as much sleep as possible and pay attention to what you eat. Do not try and lose your pregnancy weight instantly. Schedule a checkup with your doctor six weeks after delivery to ensure your vagina has healed properly. Additionally abstain from intercourse at this time. With proper care, every stage of your pregnancy can be a beautiful experience.

Hi, please do not get afraid first. When your wife could get conceived with tight vagina she can deliver as well vaginally. As pregnancy grows due to hormonal changes tissues will relax and if she goes to a right doctor she will take care of her and motivate her for vaginal delivery unless there is no other indication for c section. So do not worry now itself.

Blocked Fallopian Tube - How it Affects Your Chance of Getting Pregnant?

MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecolog, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Hyderabad
Blocked Fallopian Tube - How it Affects Your Chance of Getting Pregnant?

Being childless can be a cause of depression for many families, especially women. Infertility in women has a large number of causes. One of the main causes is endometriosis and while a woman may not be aware of it, the pain of having it and its implications does make it worthwhile to know what it is all about! To understand fully what endometriosis is, it is essential to know about the fallopian tubes. These tubes are on either side of the uterus and their purpose is transfer a mature egg from the ovaries to the uterus.

How do Fallopian Tubes Get Blocked?
The uterus has a layer or tissue which lines it called the endometrium. If a woman does not become pregnant, each month, the tissue is shed through the process of menstruation. A condition called endometriosis is caused by the growth of a tissue which is more or less like the endometrium. The issue is that this layer does not grow on the inner walls of the uterus; instead, it grows in regions where it really is not supposed to be present, such as the cervix, the bladder and the vagina.

This can cause a lot of irritation, inflammation and in some cases, can also lead to the formation of scar tissue. However, endometriosis is not nearly the only issue that can occur when it comes to problems a woman can face with fallopian tubes. Another issue is something called hydrosalpinx. This happens when the fallopian tube widens because it is blocked. The prefix ‘hydro’ is because the tube then fills up with a fluid. This fluid prevents pregnancy as it prevents the egg from meeting with the sperm and being fertilised.

Schedule a visit with your doctor
When it comes to the diagnosis of the condition of fallopian tubes which are blocked, a doctor will usually examine a special type of X-ray which is known as an HSG. However, the reliability of this test is far from sure as there is about a 15 per cent chance that a false positive may be generated.

There are some solutions, for problems regarding fallopian tubes. When a single tube is blocked and the other is functioning perfectly, there is still a reasonable chance of getting pregnant and a doctor can prescribe drugs to improve the chances of pregnancy using the tube which is functional.

Laparoscopic surgery also has quite a lot of appeal for women having blocked fallopian tubes. It is used to open blocked tubes as well as to clean out scar tissue. Depending on how severe the block is, a 20-40% pregnancy rate can be achieved post-surgery. IVF treatment is also a viable option. Fallopian tube trouble can generally be overcome. But the first step is awareness! If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.
