I presume they bleed too.
Swollen gums usually have a gum or periodontal (ligaments that support tooth) disease. I advice you to take a vitamin c course one tab a day for 15 days, visit a dentist and get your teeth scaled and root planing done.
This will, with additional salts solve ir gum disease.

The problem may not be related to your sugar levels. Sometimes, wisdom teeth (either upper or lower) can cause radiating pain and in such cases the pain can be felt all along the jaw line on that side right up to the chin. If the problem is severe, we might have to consider removing the wisdom tooth/ teeth.

You can exercise for healthier gums as well. Gently bite down so as to make sure that your teeth make a clinking sound when they meet. Repeat this 30 to 40 times continously. This exercise will stimulate the flow of blood and will keep your gums healthy.

There are several causes of tooth discoloration, including:
Foods/drinks. Coffee, tea, colas, wines, and certain fruits and vegetables (for example, apples and potatoes) can stain your teeth.
Poor dental hygiene. Inadequate brushing and flossing....
Here is home remedy for brighter teeth---
Mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste.
Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel.
Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply.
Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel.
If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes.
for faster result you can go for TEETH BLEACHING from dentist...
