In addition to brushing and flossing, rinsing your mouth with an antibacterial rinse can help prevent decay and gum problems. Chewing sugar-free gum after a meal can also protect by increasing saliva flow, which naturally washes bacteria away and neutralizes acid.

I Had Hyper Thyroid more than 10 Years. Now I Lost So Many Teeth. Is the effect of that disease?
Yes, there is absolutely a link between hyperthyroidism and dental health. In fact, there is such a strong link between thyroid problems and dental problems. In these patients, there is elevated risk of gum disease, heart disease, dry mouth (xerostomia), cavities, and dental caries, enlarged / swollen tongue (macroglossia, distorted sense of taste (dysgeusia) etc.

Treatment dental pain teeth pain may be due to various reasons like infection, sensitivity or trauma. If your teeth is decayed it is better to get it filled or treated by a dentist. If you are opting for root canal treatment do not forget to get a crown on the effected tooth. If you want to go for only medicinal treatment so let me tell you only medicine are not going to be very effective untill you get this treated by a dentist.

My teeth color is in yellowish I have to do it white all what is the solution.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist,
My teeth color is in yellowish I have to do it white all what is the solution.
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply snowdent paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min. Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

I'm having pulpitides on my two wisdom teeth. Now I'm taking antibiotics for three days. And I'm going to get my teeth removed 3 days later. The problem is that my heart rates keep accelerated, and I have some headaches too. Looks like my infections are not 100% under control. Q1, Can I still go for teeth extraction 3 days later? Or can I still wait for 3 days? Q2, What should I do to minimize any complication during and after the surgery? Thanks a billion.

I have black teeth. how to make it white?

BDS
Dentist,
I have black teeth. how to make it white?
First thing to find out is whether black stains on your teeth are external or internal. If its external then it can be eliminated by proper scaling, polishing and stain remover. And if its internal stains then porcelain or composite laminates would be appropriate option left to improve appearance.

I have got sensitivity problem in my teeth. What I will do? I used sensodine but there is no relief.

PERIODONTIST, B.D.S.
Dentist, Navi Mumbai
I have got sensitivity problem in my teeth. What I will do? I used sensodine but there is no relief.
Sensitivity of teeth is mostly due to loss of outer layer of teeth (enamel) and exposure of second layer of tooth (dentin). The dentine caries all sensation of air, water, cold to the nerve of tooth. So block these dentine layer you have to use desensitizing or nerve blocking tooth paste. You can use thermoseal ra, shy- nm, sensoform and also sensodyne. You have to use these pastes by applying it on your tooth surface for 5-7 minutes, after that you can brush with the same tooth paste. It takes time to recover this condition but if you make an effort nothing is impossible.

Tooth decay and cavities can only be removed by filling or restoration by a dentist. You should eat lot of fibrous food as it also helps to remove plaque / bio-film from the teeth and also avoid sweets, etc at bed time. Avoid snacking in between meals. Brush twice daily and gargle properly after you eat anything.

Dental Erosion - Ways To Repair It

Certified Implantologist
Dentist, Kolkata
Dental Erosion - Ways To Repair It

There are a lot of ways that tooth enamel (hardest substance in the body) can wear off – decay and erosion being the most common. While decay is an infectious process with bacteria playing a significant role, erosion is nowhere associated with bacteria. The tooth gets ‘eroded’ in small amounts with the various food substances that you eat. These include the sodas that wash down the burgers and pizzas, the various sports drinks that are used to boost performance, the lime and oranges that are constantly sucked, and other acidic and sugary foods.

It does not mean you should not have an occasional soda or a sports drink or a citrus fruit. It is the constant and overuse of these that is damaging. The oral pH goes to a very acidic level (below 5.5) with these which then leads to demineralization of the enamel. The environment that is usually produced by the bacteria is caused by the acidic and sugary foods.

In some cases, acids could come from an internal source too. People with gastroesophageal reflux disease may have the acid coming from the esophagus, which also can lead to erosion.

However, there is nothing to be disheartened about as the lost enamel can be replaced to restore both tooth function and appearance. The most commonly affected teeth are the inner surfaces of the upper incisors and the biting surfaces of the lower molars. The result is tooth sensitivity, darker teeth, and increased chances of tooth decay and fracture.

Repair Mechanisms: Treating erosion has two components to it – to repair the lost tooth structure and to prevent further damage. The second is equally or rather more important than the first one.

Treatment-

  1. Restorations: In mild cases of erosion, the lost tooth structure can be rebuilt with composite resins or glass ionomer cement which usually restores lost tooth structure to its earlier version. Usually done in one sitting, it should not take more than an hour. The results would last longer if further erosion is prevented.

  2. Crowns: In cases where a lot of tooth structure has been lost and the remaining enamel weakened, a new crown will need to be done. This offers protection against further decay and also restores esthetics and function quite effectively.

Prevention-

  1. Avoid overuse of acidic, sugary drinks like sports drinks and aerated beverages.

  2. Avoid sucking on oranges as they prolong the effect of the citric acid on the tooth.

  3. Include toothpaste and rinse with fluoride.

  4. Improve dairy intake, thereby providing sufficient calcium.

  5. Follow oral hygiene habits including brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits.

Lost tooth structure unfortunately cannot be regained; however, further loss can be prevented.

If you wish to discuss about any specific dental problem, you can consult a specilized dentist and ask a free question.

If it is unbearable pain and you want to secure your tooth then rct is only one option. Otherwise go for extraction. Now a days modern techniques of rct are available. So curing is too much fast.
