But Gelsemium is also one of the fairly few homeopathic medicines that clearly suit headaches preceded by dimness of vision or other visual disturbances, symptoms of migraines. Nausea and vomiting ensue, and the headache is worse after the vomiting. The pain is made better by walking in the open air.

We have been reading and listening the harmful effects of drinking water in plastic bottles, having tea in plastic cups and heating the food in plastic containers in microwave oven. Can somebody please tell which utensils we should use for microwaves, we usually have only plastic lunchboxes for office lunch and plastic containers at home. Also please suggest which bottles we should use for consumption of water which can be stored in fridges as well.

Hi" Old is really a Gold" – remember this phase? In fact, it is very true. While selecting the material of the plate or glass or bowl, the healthiest cookware choices are those that use classic materials such as stainless steel and cast iron which wouldn't harm your body! What you want to look for when evaluating the healthfulness of cookware is whether the material that it is made from carries much toxic risk and how likely the cookware materials are to leach into the food during cooking. Using these two criteria, stainless steel and cast iron are the best choices. Avoid using aluminum, copper, and non-stick cookware. Avoid hard plastic melamine dishes.  They are made by combining the chemical melamine with formaldehyde (which is considered a known human carcinogen). Earthenware, porcelain, and pottery (ceramic) utensils can be used for both cooking and serving food. They are durable, and are excellent for slow, even cooking in even heat, such as slow baking. However, they are comparatively unsuitable for cooking using a direct heat, such as a cooking over a flame. When it comes to dishware, glass is a great choice, followed by ceramic dishware with lead-free glaze.  If you are concerned about breakage - food grade silicone (Kinderville brand), high quality 304-grade stainless steel and bamboo or wood  containing food-safe finishes are all safe options. The safest materials for cookware and bakeware include: glass, high quality 304 grade stainless steel, cast iron and Xtrema ceramic cookware. Avoid Teflon and any other chemical non-stick coatings. When using stainless steel cookware, know that deeply scratched and pitted pans can cause metals (nickel and chromium) to migrate into food in trace amounts. These are not toxic elements, so there is not really cause for concern unless you have a specific allergy or sensitivity.  But to play it safe, avoid frequent use of abrasive materials with stainless steel cookware. If you must use plastic in the kitchen: Choose BPA-Free, PVC-free plastic. Do not heat in the microwave (“microwave-safe” only means that the plastic won’t actually melt – the extreme heat of the oven will increase transference of chemicals). Do not store fatty, greasy or acidic foods in plastic. Do not use scratched, badly worn or cloudy plastics for your food and beverages. Hand-wash plastics to avoid wear and tear. When it comes to food storage, safer materials include: glass, 304 grade stainless steel, food-grade silicone – all of which do not leach chemicals into your food. (Last, but not least the most important and concern fact is the Kitchen sponges which are used to clean the utensils can grow harmful bacteria, yeasts, and molds. The best ways to kill germs on a kitchen sponge are: Microwave the sponge on high for one minute, which kills up to 99% of germs or keep it in the sunlight after every use. Another option is to buy a new sponge each week.)

I am 20 years old and suffering from hair loss and greying along with thinning of hairs what do I do?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi. Let me tell you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent (which is called as 'Hairloss' rather). In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, may be because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up, subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. (There are different pattern and types of hairloss, because of different reasons like Alopecia Areata, Telogen Effluvium, Scarring Alopecia, Traction Alopecia, etc.) Causes of hairloss: Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or male/ female pattern baldness - hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger, use of bore water, any other underlying diseases, etc. Need to rule out any causative factor or underlying medical condition. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs (it's loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, Vitamin B12, iron, zinc and Omega 6 fatty acids in large amounts and biotin) , different pulses & legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnuts and almonds); iron-rich food like green vegetables, dates, carrots, prunes, green peas; also oats, shrimp, take flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take low-fat dairy products (they also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources) Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Cover your head with scarf or cap while stepping outside. Use Rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Medication: Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Lycopodium 200/ one dose once a week, Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa Tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Also, use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica Hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from this, take Follihair tablets (multivitamin) - 1 tab. daily once for 1 month. (N.B.: With the help of homoeopathic medicines, we can only prevent further progress of the hairloss, means it will get arrests in the present condition in case of progressive baldness. But, in case there are areas of baldness which has gone smooth and shiny, you will have to choose an option of Hair Transplant along with theses medications!). Investigations advised: Get your blood tested for (empty stomach) - CBC, S. Iron, S. Folic acid, S. Ferritin, S. Calcium, S. Vitamin D3, S. Vitamin B12. If there is any family history of Thyroid dysfunction, get Thyroid function test done as well.

I got red patches on my face nd it's itching continuously. please direct me some medication. How much time will it take to be removed totally.

MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
Although an actual examination may be required to fully treat red dry patches on the face, most people can still find some relief for upper lip red dry skin, red dry skin around the nose, and underneath the mouth. Since environmental factors can be the main cause or an exacerbating cause, it may be vitally important to make sure that the skin is protected from these irritants. Protect the face with a cotton scarf or other barrier when going into the cold Use of Vitamin E oil can provide relief and a protection Avoid excessive touching of the red dry patches, as this can further irritate the condition Maintain hydration for the skin, both topically and by drinking sufficient water Beyond these practices which can reduce outside factors that make dry red patches on the face worse, the use of a colloidal oatmeal paste can reduce inflammation and irritation, but should only be used three to five times a day. Overall, people who suffer from dry red patches on the face should be examined by a physician for further treatment.

What Are The Primary Causes Of Male Infertility?

MD - General Medicine
Sexologist, Delhi

What Are The Primary Causes Of Male Infertility?

Infertility of men can never let the women get pregnant. Lack of sperm count, lack of sperm in the semen, the low speed of the sperm to reach the egg, thick sperm hampering the speed of the sperm t reach the egg, cystic fibrosis, erectile dysfunction, injury in testicles, problem in ejaculating etc are some of the immediate medical reasons for male infertility.

Here, a couple of primary reasons are listed starting from medical causes to health and lifestyle causes-

Varicocele

This disease is the swelling of the veins that drains the testicles. As the sperm is produced from the testicles, issues in this organ can cause a severe problem for reproduction. Though it is not proven that varicocele is responsible for male infertility but definitely, the obstruction caused by the swelling of the veins the production of the normal sperm count. Immediate medical treatment can ensure complete cure of the disease by increasing the sperm count and by using assisted reproductive techniques such Vitro fertilization.

Ejaculation problems

If semen enters the bladder during the orgasm instead of flowing to the tip of the penis then mostly it is diagnosed as retrograde ejaculation. Proper treatment is there which men can opt for. Instead of the chemicals, they have the options for natural or ayurvedic medicines as well. Various reasons are responsible for this situation such as the chronic diseases such as diabetes, surgery in the bladder, urethra or the prostate, spinal injuries etc.

Infection

Different infections whether sexually transmitted or not are responsible for the temporary infertility of men. Some infections interfere with the sperm health while some hampers the normal sperm production. In many cases, men suffering from the infections experience inflammation of the epididymis or testicles during the intercourse or even masturbating. Usually, the inflammation is mainly caused by the infection caused by the sexually transmitted infections such as HIV, gonorrhea, and so on.

Issues with Erectile Dysfunction

One of the most common issues of many men these days is the erectile dysfunction. They mainly face problem in maintaining the erection for the sufficient time during the intercourse. Men suffering from ED often end up with painful intercourse, premature ejaculation, inflammation in genitals, anatomical abnormalities like urethral opening beneath the penis, psychological problems in the relationship that is interfered with sex and so on. With proper medication and therapies, the temporary issue of erectile dysfunction can be resolved and the issue of infertility can also be cured.

Particular medications

Long-term treatment of chronic diseases such as anabolic steroid use, cancer treatment, any particular antifungal medication, Testosterone replacement therapy, treatment drugs for ulcers and even diabetes can be responsible for decreasing the sperm count in male causing to male infertility.

Previous Surgeries

Along with medications, there are a few surgeries that can interfere in producing the normal sperm count during ejaculation. Testicular surgeries, vasectomy, hernia, prostate surgeries, abdominal surgeries, surgeries for rectal cancers etc can be responsible for lowering the accurate sperm count in men. Through surgery, the issue can be cured to retrieve sperm count directly from the testicles.

Emotional stress

Emotional stress, depression or any sort of psychological issue hampers the production of the good amount of healthy sperm required to impregnate a woman. Men suffering from any work-related anxiety or emotional stress should workout or go for counseling to de-stress and feel positive. In this case, good herbal medication along with proper diet can contribute incredibility in maintaining the psychological balance of men.

Along with all these issues, men addicted to smoking tobacco or alcohol often suffer from producing a healthy sperm count needed for reproduction.
