Hi, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent neck pains. If you have localized neck pain with no other symptoms like radiating upper limb pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your neck while working and sleeping and maintain principles of neck ergonomics especially during work. - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. We will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of neck region and few blood tests for evaluation. Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I have pain in my left hand for over 2 days. What should I do?
Take hot water in a container and emerg your hand in that water. Make sure it is not burning hot. So after 5 to 10 mins, take out your hand. Take hand towel and make a roll of it. Then hold the roll in your left hand and press it. Hold it for 10 sec and release it. Do like this for 10 to 15 reps. Let me know after 1 week. Thank you.

Do hot fomentation, & physiotherapy.Get your blood tested for CBC, Sugar, uric acid, thyroid, & vitamin D 3, and urine for routine and microscopic examination.

I am 32 suffering more than one month due to right hand and shoulder joint pain.

Kindly show me x rays of your shoulder. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Do hot fomentation any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Do neck & shoulder exercises it may have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Shoulder exercises can be done any time. It should not be done immediately after taking food. Do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan.

Hello Sir, I met with an accident 5-6 years back and from that time there is a pain in my right hand at wrist joint. I can not hold heavy weights during my exercise and can't do such exercise which gives pressure on my wrist like Push-ups, Pull-ups etc. Please suggest me what to do as I consulted lots of doctors but still pain exits .Thanks in advance.

Backache is a common ailment. Rule out diabetes & vit.D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. Any way take IBUPROFEN 200mg OD & SOS x 5days CALDIKIND PLUS (mankind) 1 tab ODx10days You will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take Do ask for detailed treatment plan..Don’t ignore, lest it becomes starting point of a major problem

Hello Dr. Sometimes I have very severe lower back pain which is extremely unbearable. It is relieved only after me lying down on a flat surface and using volini spray. You can help your back get back to normal by being extra careful about how you use it and doing a few easy, sensible exercises. -stay conscious of how you bend and lift: start the movement from your knees, not your back, when you lift baby, laundry, stroller, etc. -don't hunch over when you're feeding or cooing to your baby. A straight spine is a happier spine. -use a footrest to elevate your feet slightly when sitting. You deserve to put your feet up anyway! -try not to stand for long periods of time. Whenever possible, place one foot on a low stool when standing in order to take some pressure off your lower back. -do hot water fomentation for back pain. -weight management is another important thing for low back and knee pain. Hello sir, I regularly work out in my gym but my back is pain at night when I go to sleep.
Dear lybrate-user, get a mri done to pin point the cause and site of pain. Meanwhile go for ayurveda's panchkarma therapy - we have many option for you - kati basti (specialised panchakarma procedure for backpains), localised massgae with herbal oils, localised medicated steam, pottali massage. Continue these procedures for atleast 15 days. Regular oiling of the joint will improve the lubrication also. These procedures will relax your back muscles and give strength to your nerves and muscles of back. Also start some yogic exercises - tadasana, dhanurasan, halasana along with these therapies. This will greatly help. Please avoid pushing / pulling heavy objects, long sittings, long two-wheeler drives. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking. Please update with your valuable feedback after 15 days.

I am having lower back pain. I think its due to wrong gym posture and wallet, I have stopped the gym and do only the physio exercise suggested by docter. But not getting 1% benifit of that. My age is 25 only. And i want to do the gym. But cant do because of this back pain. Suggest me something.

Dear dipak,i can understand your problem. see this kind of lower back pain may have many causes. but presently you stop doing gym. in place you can do more aerobic or pranayama exercises. for better result i have to evaluate you thoroughly face to face personally, than only i can get the cause of pain. as you are very young so you should care your back now only, muscle can be made later age also. our concern is with good health and pain free movement. here i am giving some tips so that you can get temporary relief. 1 Lie down flat on floor without pillow. 2 Dont lift heavy weight for time being 3 Try to lie down on your belly for some time. 4 if possible do BHUJANGASANA its very effective but slowly 5 apply warm water or analgesic gel to painful part. Lastly if possible consult me as early as possible if you are in or nearby Rajkot. or keep in touch will advice as needed. DR HEMANG S JANI

If the pain is only during working and not there otherwise then maybe its just because of weakness in muscles. If your x ray and other investigations are normal then you should srart exercising your back. Specially the core muscles.

Hello, We can't reverse the established pathology back, but we can control the process in the stage it is so that it wouldn't grow further. Medication: Give her Schwabe's Biocombination-19/ thrice daily and apply Topi-MP gel over the knees. Also, increase her dietary intake of calcium which is present in green leafy vegetables, milk, milk products, sea food, white legumes, dried fig, black-eyed peas, almonds, oranges, seasame seeds. And vitamin D which is essential for absorption of calcium in our body and is synthesized naturally after getting exposed to sunlight, so early morning sunlight for 10-15min., 2-3 times a day is mandatory. Apart from this, let her do walk daily along with physiotherapy will also help you.
