I am 50 yr old ex service man suffering from itp since nov 14. I am on 20 mg of prednisolon since 15 days. I was on 7, 5 mg of prednisolon than platlets were 43000. When the medicine reduced to 5mg platlets reduced to 28000. Rashes appeared on both the hands. So again medicine increased to 20 mg. Bone marrow test done. I am suffering from itp. Now I am given 80mg dose of ivig in single dose. Pl guide me.

MBBS, DGO (cal)
General Physician,
They are doing right treatment for you. Why getting worried. I shall not be able to say why they choose to put you on steroid. Definitely they that was right at that time. In mild cases, only careful observation may be required but very low counts or significant bleeding may prompt treatment with corticosteroids, intravenous immunoglobulin, anti-d immunoglobulin, or immunosuppressive drugs. Refractory itp (not responsive to conventional treatment) may require splenectomy, the surgical removal of the spleen. Platelet transfusions may be used in severe bleeding together with a very low count. Sometimes the body may compensate by making abnormally large platelets. So have patience, if feel anxious may take a second opinion from a reputed institution like cmc vellore.

Use mild shampoo for hairs. If you have dandruff get rid of it. Regular trimming of hair is necessary as this causes to get rid off splits that form at the end of hairs and that increases the quality of hair. Eat diet rich in calcium iron and vitamins.

Hi. For various hyperpigmentation problems, different types of creams can be advised. We need to know what type of allergy you had and what type of mark is present on your face. You may put up 2-3 pictures of the affected area for better evaluation and guidance. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen during the day.

Hi. Masturbation can't be the causative factor for acne or oily skin as such. There are four main factors which causes acne: Oil production Dead skin cells Clogged pores Bacteria Factors that may worsen the acne: Androgen hormones, certain medications (drugs containing corticosteroids, androgens or lithium can worsen acne), dietary factors, including dairy products and carbohydrate-rich foods — such as bread, bagels and chips — may trigger acne and Stress can make acne worse. Management: Wash your face with Bakson's Facewash (wash your face with warm water only) and followed by CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally Sunscreen Gel with SPF-30) after washing your face daily. Home-made remedies: - Take 1 tbsp of fuller's earth (multani mitti) + a dash of lime + bit of rosewater – apply this on your face till it gets dried up, then rinse it off. - Take 1 tsp of Alum (or fitkari), make it slightly wet with water and apply this on your wet face, spread it well; let it dry and rinse it off. Alum remove your excessive moisture or oil and it also tightens the skin's tonicity. Medication: You can take homoeopathic medicines – Berberis Aquefolium Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice a day (and for local application as well) and Kali Brom. 200/ thrice a day – for 20 days. Use Bakson's Apricot scrub at least once a week.

Get blood sugar tested. Locally apply powder absorb as an antiseptic plenty of time. Wait for a week. If no improvement, get checked by doctors. Get blood tested for infections also. Cbc test for total counts of white blood cells. If counts are high, you may need a course of antibiotics like ampicillin which is safer for mother and baby in case she's feeding.

Check whether you have diabetes. Do regular exercise which will help to reverse. You have not specified about your work nature which is very much related to grey hairs. The Causes of Grey Hair 1) Vitamin B-12 deficiency 2) Problems with your pituitary or thyroid gland can cause premature graying that’s reversible if the problem is corrected. 3) Mental stress 4) Vit D and Calcium deficiency. 5) Not having regular Sleep, it does not mean 8 hour sleep which actually mean the person should sleep at regular time and wake up at regular time. 6) Smoking and alcohol. 7) Chemical foods and High Sugar Foods Like (Soft Drinks, Carbonated Drinks, Processed Foods and Fried Items) Consult a doctor for more information and treatment.

Wash your face with Bakson's Facewash (wash your face with warm water only) and followed by CTMP, i.e. Cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally Sunscreen Gel with SPF-30) after washing your face daily. Prevention: -Take healthy food only and avoid unhealthy ones (although sebaceous glands are not excretory glands then as well!) as what you eat is reflected on your face! -Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension as it encourages secretion of stress hormone in the body as thus affects skin or any other tissue of the body. -Drink atleast 8-10 glasses of water in a day. -Take 6-8 hrs. Of sound sleep everyday. -Don't use others towels, handkerchief on your face as well as never share yours. -Never ever rub your face as it damages the skin (even towel should be dab on skin softly) and break outs of acne get worsened! -Maintain hygiene, wash your face 2-3 times in a day, changes the pillow covers, bed sheet daily, use cotton bed sheet only (try to sleep on your back). Smelly Feet - Did You Know Why?

MD - MD- Skin & VD, MBBS
Dermatologist, Ghaziabad
Smelly Feet - Did You Know Why?

Why do feet stink?

Smelly feet can be a cause of great embarrassment and discomfort for anyone. Also known as bromodosis, the primary cause of smelly feet is the sweat glands in your feet. This part of the human body has more sweat glands than anywhere else in the body. Additionally, compared to sweat glands in the other parts of the body that secrete to control your body temperature when exposed to hot weather or while exercising, the sweat glands in your feet produce perspiration all the time.

When this happens, bacteria living on your skin break down the perspiration that oozes from your skin pores and a cheese-like smell is produced as the sweat gets broken down by the bacteria.

Apart from the explanation of the origin of this kind of smell, the causes that lead to you having smelly feet are:

- Wearing the same footwear on a daily basis and not letting them dry

- Poor hygiene habits like not washing your feet and drying them thoroughly

- Changes in the body's hormones level especially during pregnancy and puberty

- Too much stress

- Hyperhidrosis (a condition wherein you sweat excessively)

- Athlete's foot (infection of the soles of the feet and between the toes)
