My aunt is suffering from fisher from last 3-4 month. Doctor advise for operate. But she want to take a treatment without operation. So please tell me what is the treatment for pisher.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
Try sitz bath. I understand that you mean anal fissues (you have written-fisher) potassium permagnate crystals in warm water in a baby tub, sit in it for few minutes, it works like chemical cauterization (burning or shrinking the tissue by chemicals, other cartery is electrical, which we use in major surgeries to stop blood from bleeding vessels) do write back after 2 weeks. Since problem is chronic, you can give her some more time before going for surgery.

Intrauterine Devices: What You Should Know

PG in Assisted Reproductive Technology, MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecology, DGO, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Intrauterine Devices: What You Should Know

Intrauterine devices or IUD are T shaped contraceptive devices. These contain levonorgestrel or copper and are inserted into the uterus. IUDs are considered to be one of the most effective birth control measures and also they are reversible (meaning it can be removed whenever a need arises). The copper IUd has a failure rate of 0.8%, while the levonorgestrel IUD has only had 0.2% failures till now. As per a report in 2007, IUDs are used by more than 180 million users all over the world.

What you should know about Intrauterine devices:

  1. Types of IUDs: There are 2 types of IUDs Copper and Hormone: Copper IUD is considered to be the conventional form of the contraceptive. It is T shaped with strings and is inserted into the uterus by a doctor. It can remain in the body for three to five years. Minera is a known brand of the hormone IUD. It contains low dose of hormone progestin and releases the same when inserted in the uterus. This is also T shaped and has strings. This can be left for three years.
  2. Pelvic infections are not caused by IUDs: There is a belief that IUDs cause pelvic infection but this is not true. The strings of the new IUDs are very thin and they do not cause any pelvic infection even if a person is suffering from a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Though there might be a slight risk of infection when the IUD is inserted and in the first 20 days, but that also dissolves soon.
  3. IUD can be used at any age: Earlier IUDs were not recommended for women who had never got pregnant. However, now anyone can use these irrespective of being pregnant or not. It is very safe for all age groups from teenagers to women involved in active sex to women post menopause.
  4. IUD is as effective as getting a tubal ligation: It is believed that Minera is 99.4% effective while sterilization (tubal ligation) is 99% effective in preventing a pregnancy. Ligation is considered to be a permanent birth control solution, while IUDs can be reversed.
  5. IUDs do not cause infertility: It was believed that a STI would creep into the pelvis through the string of the IUD and cause infertility but this is not so. Though a STI can cause infertility but the IUD has no role in the same and does not contribute or worsen the infection.
  6. Hormonal IUD have less side effects than birth control pills: Breast tenderness, acne, and bleeding for a short time may persist for the initial 3-4 months in case of hormonal IUDs. The copper IUD lead to cramping and heavy flow during menstruation. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist and ask a free question.

It is hormonal change. Do not press nipples aggressively. Slowly the pain will disappear of its own.

I have the bulky uterus in cervical size 9.3 mm, and my age is 33, is it possible to operate as its really hard for me to face hormonal changes.

MBBS, MD Obs & Gynae, FNB Reproductive Medicine
Gynaecologist, Jalandhar
Don't go by ultrasonic dimensions of the uterus. U have to get a per speculam examination and pap smear. And bulky uterus is sometimes an effect of child birth . You should look at the symptoms that u have like excessive bleeding Pain during periods rapidly increasing fibroid etc Then it forms indication of hysterectomy And the ovaries can be preserved then it will not cause menopausal symptoms.

Hello, its too late to take any emergency contraceptive. So please get a serum beta hcg test done to rule out pregnancy first. If hcg levels re low and test is negative then you are pregnancy safe.

I (female) have no problem hsg was normal and all are normal but I have common problem" right renal calculus. Now we follow residents medicine. But no improvement in my husband health with seven. Now what we do the next step? please tell me famous specialist for this problem. My husband 35 years old. I was 25 years old. Please give a proper solution for my problem. And he have a normal testis.

In azospermia, hardly any medicines can help. But don't start to cry after hearing this. Because, in that case, we have to evaluate him and detect the exact cause. Depending on the cause, we can extract sperm from his testis or other parts (like epididymis, even seminal vesicles, depending on the cause) and carry out icsi using his own sperms. But icsi is costly, so be well prepared for it.

I had 2 miscarriage in 2015 and one in 2016 and my right tube was removed last year due to ectopic pregnancy advice whether I go for IVF or I adopt natural process of conceiving.

Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery, MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Bangalore
Chances of another ectopic pregnancy are high in your case. IVF would entail high cost. Though chances of conception with latter are there, there is no guarantee. Then, the remaining tube will also have to be blocked permanently.

According to my h8. Wot is da prfct w8 for me. M a married grl. Nd want to conceive now. Wot is da proper tym to conceive?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Your BMI is 22.7 which is absolutely normal (18-25). This is the perfect age 924 years) for you to get pregnant. To get pregnant you need to have regular sex i. E. 3-4 times a week. If you want to make her pregnant fast then you can follow this calender method. If a women’s menstrual cycle varies from 26days to 31days cycle, The shortest cycle (26days) minus18days=8th day. The longest cycle (31days) minus 10days=21st day Thus, 8th to 21st day of each cycle counting from first day of menstrual period is considered as fertile period.

My wife is 31 weeks pregnant now. Our gynecologist put cervical stitch for her. When they open the stitch before delivery (at which week) ? Or they do caesarian or is there any possible for normal delivery ? If it so what is our contribution for normal delivery ?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, DGO
Obstetrician, Vadodara
Hello lybrate-user there is no relation for normal or caesarian delivery with cervical stitch. It is removed few days before due date or at time of delivery. It is meant for prevention of early delivery. Thanks.

Im suffering from pcod im using birth control pills krimson 35 pla tell me correct treatment.

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
Hello Lybrate-user- PCOD is caused by improper food intake and improper routine specially done in the time of menses. Try this ayurvedic treatment- a) Tab Kuberaksha vati 1 tab twice daily. B) Tab Hyponid 1 tab thrice daily. C) Do Basti treatment by nearby ayurvedic doctor (it is a very effective treatment in ayurveda for pcod). D) Maintain proper eating routine, avoid fast foods and spicy diet.
