Firstly keep the face clean and do not touch frequently as that may aggravate the problem and also infect it. Keep the hands clean. Use a simple antiseptic solution (like Savlon) to clean the eruption. Usually it dries up in a few days. If not get it treated.

Hypertrichosis - Types And Causes

What is hypertrichosis?

Hypertrichosis is the excessive growth of hair, which is abnormal given for the person's age, sex, body area or race. This is different from Hirsutism in which women experience hair growth in areas that generally fall under the male pattern of hair distribution.

The commonest symptom of hypertrichosis is the development of excess hair in small isolated patches (localised hypertrichosis) or all over the body (generalised hypertrichosis). Some with this disorder may exhibit enlarged gums and defects of the teeth as well.

Types of hypertrichosis

Hypertrichosis may be congenital (present during birth) or acquired.

  • Congenital hypertrichosis is generally caused by genetic mutations. It may affect men and women differently, and may even impact the whole body, covering one totally in hair or just in isolated areas such as the upper part of the body, face, elbows etc.
  • Acquired hypertrichosis occurs post birth. Causes of it may include side effects of certain drugs, certain types of cancer and metabolic abnormalities. It may also occur due to trauma. This generally causes hair growth around or in the facial region such as the upper lip, chin and cheeks that may follow a certain pattern.

Causes of Hypertrichosis:

  • Genes - Genetic mutations has been seen to affect the development of hypertrichosis.
  • Cancer - It may develop in those suffering from cancers of some forms. This form of hair growth is also known as malignant down and generally affects the face.
  • Malnutrition - Eating disorders affect the metabolism of a person, which might lead to the development of hypertrichosis.
  • Drugs - Certain drugs have been found to cause hormonal imbalances, which can induce excessive hair growth.
  • Injuries - Trauma such as head or cerebral injuries or exposure to certain chemicals may also cause hypertrichosis. Porphyrias, which are disorders affecting the skin and or nerves, may also lead to its development. Consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Hi, Do regular care of your skin along with intake of healthy food. Daily Regime: Apart from these, you do follow CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally sunscreen with SPF-30 – a thick layer of Bakson's Suncare cream may be, 20-30 minutes before going out daily and repeat it's application after every 3-4hrs.) after washing your face daily; use the products as per your skin type. This will change the skin texture and skin tone. Eat right and healthy that too on time, relieve your stress/ tensions, sleep well, stop smoking, as this restricts blood flow to your face and leaves your skin with a greyish complexion and unhealthy skin. lead a healthy lifestyle! Apart from this, avoid anger, anxiety, fear which increases stress hormone in the body and subsequently makes your skin darker and unhealthy! (Hormonal imbalances also plays a major role). If the dull and dark skin tone is due to any underlying ailment or diseases, need to look into the matter. Diet: -Increase your Vitamin C intake (lemon,orange,gooseberry,etc.Fruits/juices, strawberries, sweet peppers, tomatoes, cantaloupe, and green peas). - Eat more Vitamin A (nonfat milk, oysters, and egg yolks, carrots, watermelon, papaya, tomatoes, or other dark colored produce) . If you feel your skin is weak or not tight enough, that usually suggests a lack of Vitamin A. Medicine: You can also use homoeopathic cream - Medicynth's Whitch Hazel daily at night. Home remedies: Apply fresh-squeezed lemon juice to your entire face and neck. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. After this, rub cucumber slices on your skin to soften and moisturize it. Do this daily or every other day. Another option is squeeze the juice of one-half lemon and mix one to two tablespoons of raw honey in it. Apply it on your face, leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse it off. Make a paste of 'Kasturi Manjal' (wild turmeric) with rose petals, saffron and raw milk (which is very effective.

I am suffering from pigmentation on nose and very scare about dis please give solution.
Dear lybrate-user, In reference to your enquiry, please note that you need not worry, as this problem of pigmentation is completely treatable with us. The causative factors may not be necessarily based into the affected region and may be associated with disorders of internal organs. It is, the nature of the problem that calls in for the strategy of the treatment which may include internal remedies supported by external modalities like:- localized immune- enhancer activities to affected region i.e. Acupuncture, Applications of products with certified organic herbs, Modernized cosmetology and procedures based on ancient principles as mentioned in classical text including Constitutional diet & Yoga. On examination by the concerned Doctor and on case taking these details are given to you as a routine procedure. The skin responds to injuries in different way like:- Healing with little or no scarring. Healing with residual hyper pigmentation- darkening of skin. Healing with hypo-pigmentation- lightening of skin. Excessive scarring or keloid formation or hyper-tropic scars. Blemishes are the result of healing with residual hyper-pigmentation as darkening of the skin. These are a typical flat or brown spots with no fibrous texture or pitted quality. Most likely they represent the post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation rather than true scars. There are various causes for these pigmentation, they are: Drug induced by drugs like Barbiturates, Sulfonamides, penicillin, and oral contraceptive pills, etc. Hormonal imbalance. Exposure to sun. Congenital hyper-pigmentation. Varied skin pigmentation alters individual looks and makes a person conscious or insecure and scared of being socially rejected. Self-confidence comes from self-acceptance. Correction of such pigmentation disorder gives necessary morale boosting. And this is provided to you at Valeda Wellness Centers.
