Your pulse rate how much it should be around 70 to 80 per min and bp should be around 120/70mm of hg it seems you don't have any tachycardia whatever you get that may he beapcause of nervou s nessv, stress, strain and anxiety neurosis. It is good thing that you left alcohol that will further damage you liver. Have balanced foodveasily digestible food and take lot of water by mouth. Go for morning walk followed by free hand exercises regularly. Things will improve.

Graying of hair is a natural process as you grow older. It is not a medical condition so there is no need for any medication. However, having a healthy diet full of vitamins, minerals and protein keeps hair strong and healthy and can delay the graying process.

You can include good protein in your diet. Include protein in your major meals like breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can have in the form of curd, paneer, pancakes, chicken / fish / eggs, dal, sprouts etc.

Follow these methods to remove sunburn from forehead: * take one teaspoon of lemon juice mix with 1/2 teaspoon of glycerine on tanned areas and leave for 5 to 10 minutes then rinse off with cold water. * you can use cucumber with lemon juice to apply on forehead for 5 minutes. * gently rub the slices of raw tomatoes on tanned area for 5 minutes and then clean with water. You can apply pulp of tomatoes on skin and leave on for 20 minuteon and then rinse with water. * mix one teaspoon of curd with one teaspoon of besan apply it for 10 minutes and rinse with water. It remove dead layer of skin and tanning.

Alcohol - How Much Should You Drink Everyday?

How much alcohol can you safely drink every day? Moderate, say the experts. Alcohol abuse has serious health downsizes, but moderate drinking can actually be good for your heart. Moderate alcohol use has a few other health benefits too. Let’s see what these are.

  1. Reduces risk of developing and dying from heart disease
  2. Reduces your risk of ischemic stroke during which the arteries to your brain become narrowed or blocked, causing reduction of blood flow to your brain
  3. Reduces your risk of diabetes

The link between alcohol and health is tenuous at best and the health benefits of moderate drinking are by no means certain. Also every one may not benefit from alcohol. Moderate alcohol use - Guidelines
One drink a day is considered moderate for healthy women of any age and men older than 65, and up to two drinks a day for men younger than 65. This alcoholic drink can be:

  1. Beer: 12 ounces
  2. Wine: 5 ounces
  3. Distilled spirits : 1.5 ounces

Moderate alcohol use can be counter-productive for you, if you have risk factors for heart disease. It’s always better to take care to lead a healthy lifestyle and eat a heart-healthy diet to reduce your heart attack risks.

Risks of heavy alcohol use
We know about the definition of moderate drinking, but what’s heavy drinking? It is defined as more than three drinks a day for women and men older than 65 (or more than seven drinks a week), and more than four drinks a day for men less than 65 (or more than 14 drinks a week).
Binge drinking is even worse. If you drink four or more drinks within two hours as a woman and five or more drinks within two hours as a man, it is referred to as binge drinking. Heavy drinking, including binge drinking, can increase your risk of serious health problems, like:

  1. Cancer, including breast cancer and cancers of the mouth, throat and esophagus
  2. Pancreatitis or inflammation of the pancreas
  3. Sudden death due to pre-existing cardiovascular disease
  4. Alcoholic myopathy or damage to heart muscle, which causes heart failure
  5. Stroke
  6. High blood pressure
  7. Liver disease
  8. Brain damage in fetuses

It’s best to ditch alcohol altogether. It is the healthiest thing you could ever do. The guidelines make it very clear that you shouldn’t start drinking alcohol, albeit moderately, to make your heart healthy. The best way to have a healthy heart is to eat and exercise right. However, if you are an occasional drinker, you could make sure that your alcohol intake is within limits and you drink moderately at all times so that you don’t attract any health penalties associated with heavy alcohol use. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a general physician.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Hello, I am 27 years old male, I went for 22km trekking expedition. Next day while sneezing I felt a sudden pain wave through my left lower back. I took it casually and went to play soccer next day now I'm feeling it for past 3 days although the intensity is low-mild. I had similar back pain with high intensity around3 months back while picking up something from the floor. Went to see a doctor and foot x-rayed he told it's a sprain and have me passion killers it subsided in couple of days. Should I visit again to the doctor or it will cool down in a few days?

You have possibly sprained a ligament or joint capsule or a miscle strain in your back. First step is to take full rest for 2 to 3 days and get some pain killers from your local physician. Apply ice packs to painful area. If pain is not significantly better by then, you need to see a spine specialist for clinical evaluation.

Depression, severe mental illness and loneliness are linked to heart disease and dementia.
A 3-year study by Dr Jesse Stewart, formerly of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine found a correlation between depression and hardening of the arteries. The arteries of those who are most depressed were narrowed twice as much as those who were least depressed, in the study. Hardening of the arteries is a precursor to a heart attack or stroke.
Depression may also upset the body?s regulation of glands that release chemicals governing energy level and growth, and alter the functioning of cells responsible for blood clotting.
Hardening of the arteries leads to an overreaction of the immune system and the resulting inflammation is known to release chemicals that can cause the disease.
Quoting a British study, Dr Aggarwal said that severely mentally ill people are more than three times as likely to die from coronary heart disease and stroke as those not suffering from mental illness. Mental illness more than doubled the risk of dying from heart disease for people up to the age 75. The risk of dying from heart disease was even higher among those taking antipsychotic medications.
A persistent feeling of loneliness among the elderly doubles the risk of developing Alzheimer's-like symptoms compared to those who felt connected to others.

Hello Lybrate User, Here are few preventive measures to reduce Cholesterol levels, follow this tips - * Exercise - Do 30 - 45 minutes a day of moderate cardio. It will help s to lose weight and boosts your HDL levels. * Diet - eat more fibers, eat healthy fats i.e. Nuts, olive oil, avocado all have fats that won't increase your LDL, limit cholesterol intake, i.e. Reduce high saturated fat foods like cheese, whole milk. Choose fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, low fat or nonfat dairy products, eat low salt diet. * Quit smoking, limit alcohol and caffeine consumption. * Do practice relaxation and breathing exercises. * Garlic - it helps to reduce high cholesterol. In the morning take a small piece of garlic and crush it and take with glass of water. The garlic contains allicin which helps to lower high blood pressure and prevents blood clotting. * Drink 8 - 10 glasses of water, per day. Take homeopathy treatment for High Cholesterol. Use haldi, besan, suji, milk and lemon juice paste and apply it on your face, keep it for 1/2 hour and then wash it away! drink 2 tsf of any raktashodhak twice daily! do it every alternate day! use aloe vera gel twice a day! if no relief take constitutional homeopathic treatment!

Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform me.

Noodles and pasta are rich in calories and have high amount of carbohydrates. They are easy to make and also saves cooking time. If you are a non-vegetarian, you can also add lean chicken and a lot of vegetables to the noodles and pasta that will convert it into a high calorie and nutritious food and provide you essential minerals and proteins.

Leafy vegetables, such as swiss chard, cabbage and watercress, contain a small amount of msm.
