- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

Hi I am 33 year old male, was diagnosed with anxiety an year back since then I face anxiety on and off .i am not taking any medication but sometimes I take clonazepam when the situation is worst. I just need to know I am doing right by managing it on my own like lifestyle changes exercising meditation etc or I need to get it treated with a psychiatrist. Symptoms are like heartbeat fasten up and too many thoughts sweating etc and after that o gets too many burps and get relief. M confused on the part of my burps whether these are due to stomach or anxiety but these are regular with me. Please let me know anxiety is permanently curable and suggest me a further step.

There is no truth to 'less penis growth, less stamina, hair whitening, week hairs cause a great problem. Because of masturbation. Masturbation is not really bad; it is the addiction to it that is bad. Not even the number of years is a problem but the frequency and compulsiveness to do it is to be considered for its ill-effects. At your age you may feel it difficult and it can become addictive if you have alone time, if you obsess about it, and if you are not into relationships. The problem with addiction to this is that you may go on to prefer masturbation to heterosexual contact, even when you are married. That obviously would be an insult to your wife and will lead to a lot of conflict. Heterosexual contact is very wholesome and the physiology is made exactly for penile and vaginal contact. You will instead enjoy a poor replica of this and not know or care for the difference. The second thing that can happen with addiction is that it will become compulsive and will have no boundaries or limits, since it can be done all by yourself, whenever, wherever, and however too. The big problem a lot of children get into is the guilt around this. A useful way to discharge the energy is to get into contact games, or exercises, or even hobbies to channelize it. Also you should not spend too much time alone, and you need to keep your mind occupied with other interesting things and a lot of socializing. Even if you are not interested in marriage, for whatever reasons, it will help you to get into a friendship with a girl and enjoy the relationship where there will be a lot of excitement when you fall in love. Right now your hormones may be very active and your physiological apparatus is primed and ready for sexual stimulation. But because of your age and even otherwise it is important to develop good control and not feed into your impulses. Keeping yourself occupied and living a healthy social life are the keys to manage your sexual drives.

Dear Lybrate User, *Do regular aerobic exercise for 1 hour daily (brisk walking, jogging, running, swimming, cycling etc) *Reduce weight if overweight *Control diet *avoid sweets, sugar/honey, milk, milk product excess calorie and carbohydrate rich diet like white bread, cereal, rice, pasta *avoid all refined food like maida, pasta, starchy food like rice, potato, bakery item, processed food, *include more fiber like pulse, green leafy vegetable, cucumber, carrot, tomato, j legume. *avoid sweetened fruit like banana, mango, litchi, chickoo, sapota, seethaphal jack fruit, grape etc. Can have fruits like guava, pineapple, papaya, orange, mousambi, strawberry, watermelon, pomegranate, jack fruit, sweet potato *avoid white/polished rice, take unpolished rice like brown rice/wheat/jowar/ragi, moong and chana dal. *avoid ghee/ butter./coconut oil/excess salt intake like papad/pickle. *avoid red meat. If you are pregnant and you are having bleeding you need to immediately consult a gynaecologist for examination and usg.

Yes you will be suggested for implants if you have the required bone depth in that region. You may also consider bridging the gap metal or pfm bridges.

If you have already started balding then it could be hormonal. Please get in touch with a nearby dermatologist who can provide medications and also do some procedures like dermaroller/ prp to get the hair back.

masturbation is a normal phenomenon and most of the males and females masturbate in some phase of their life. There is no harm in masturbation. If you are feeling that masturbation is interfering with your normal functioning, you can do same work: 1. Improve your social life by spending more time with friends and relatives. 2. Keep your mind active and busy 3. Have a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts & honey. 4. Avoid fast foods / smoking & alcohol. 5. Keep away stress, 6. Think positive.

My wife has yeast infection (candida). This cause me lot of problem after intercourse. Does male also are carrier of these type of infection. Yes candida can affect both sexes. We need to confirm the disease and also need to know whether there is xause of severe infection like sugar etc. Usually we treat both husband and wife.

Tips To Help You Reduce The Risk Of Type 2 Diabetes

Here are some tips to help you reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes.

Check your risk of diabetes. Take the life! risk assessment test and learn more about your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. A 12+ score indicates that you are at high risk and may be eligible for the life! program - a free victorian lifestyle modification program that helps you reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Manage your weight. Excess body fat, particularly if stored around the abdomen, can increase the body’s resistance to the hormone insulin. This can lead to type 2 diabetes.

Exercise regularly. Moderate physical activity on most days of the week helps manage weight, reduce blood glucose levels and may also improve blood pressure and cholesterol.

Eat a balanced, healthy diet. Reduce the amount of fat in your diet, especially saturated and trans fats. Eat more fruit, vegetables and high-fibre foods. Cut back on salt. 

Limit takeaway and processed foods. convenience meals are usually high in salt, fat and kilojoules. It's best to cook for yourself using fresh ingredients whenever possible.

Limit your alcohol intake. Too much alcohol can lead to weight gain and may increase your blood pressure and triglyceride levels. Men should have no more than two standard drinks a day and women should have no more than one. 

Quit smoking. Smokers are twice as likely to develop diabetes as non-smokers.

Control your blood pressure. Most people can do this with regular exercise, a balanced diet and by keeping a healthy weight. In some cases, you might need medication prescribed by your doctor.

Reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease. Diabetes and cardiovascular disease have many risk factors in common, including obesity and physical inactivity.

See your doctor for regular check-ups. As you get older, it's a good idea to regularly check your blood glucose, blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels.

By drinking milk empty stomach and eating ghee butter dry fruits regularly you can increase your weight avoid stress tension worry anxiety which is main cause for not gaining weight aviod overeating and frequently eating which makes your hunger poorer day by day avoid drinking too much water at a time and water before food and at the start of food 1/2 strength exercise in morning will be beneficial not in ac gyms for more details consult privetly.

Often I get anger for silly things how can I control my anger. What are the things I need to follow to control my anger can you pls help me out?

If it is of recent origin, which I suspect, then look back and see what has triggered off this reaction. It has to do with anger. When you have identified it you can work to out with a counselor. If not it may be of some past event in your childhood, in which case we may have a more serious problem. You and your parents would do well to visit a counselor and trace the feeling of anger from childhood. This may have a major bearing and could lead to complications if not dealt with soon. Anyway, you must do vigorous exercise everyday and that will expend the energy and leave you with the memory to deal with. You will also need to check whether you are acting angry when you are really scared. In that case you are escalating anger over the fear to cover it up. This will not deal with the fear and you will need to investigate that and deal with that instead. It is not advisable to ‘ruminate’ over this feeling as it will feed into an impulse and you may lose control over that and do something inappropriate. None of the feelings are to be controlled. The way you express them has to be appropriate. Now anger is pure energy and people mistakenly think that they must express anger violently, or aggressively, or they can damage something, or throw a fit, or kill, or hurt, or withdraw, etc. These expressions can be followed, if they are appropriate to the situation. You can instead simply talk about the feeling, write about it and share it with someone who understands; scream and shout in a situation which warrants it and so on. When the expression is most suitable, the repercussions are minimized and the other person tends to understand and is willing to apologize and sort out the matter. Many of us are inclined to worry about the consequences of expressing anger and use fear to suppress the legitimate expression. You can exorcise your anger out of your system by exercising, but it is the energy that is expended not the feeling. Unexpressed feelings will hurt you back by clinging on to a favorite organ and troubling it enough to cause it to malfunction or lead to its total dysfunction. You can also hand over the feeling to God, if you are a spiritual person, and very effectively too. All feelings must be expressed without exception.

HOW TO PREVENT COUGHING

You can treat coughs due to colds, allergies, and sinus infections with a number of over-the-counter medicines. However, for those who prefer to avoid chemicals, we’ve listed a few home remedies that can help.

1. Honey

Honey is a time-honored remedy for a sore throat. According to a 2007 study, it can also relieve coughs more effectively than over-the-counter medicines that contain dextromethorphan (DM), a cough suppressant.

You can create your own remedy at home by mixing honey with herbal tea, or warm water and lemon. The honey does the soothing, while lemon juice can help with congestion.

2. Probiotics

Probiotics are microorganisms that can provide a host of health benefits. While they don’t relieve a cough directly, they help to balance your gastrointestinal flora (the bacteria that live in your intestines). This can support immune system function throughout the body. Some evidence also suggests that Lactobacillus, a bacterium in dairy, can reduce the likelihood of a cold or flu, and sensitivity to certain allergens like pollen.

Fortified milk is a great source of Lactobacillus.You should be cautious, however, as dairy may make phlegm thicker.

3. Bromelain

You don’t usually think of pineapple as a cough remedy, but that’s probably because you’ve never heard of Bromelain. According to a review of research on the medicinal value of pineapples, there is evidence to suggest that Bromelain — an enzyme found in the tropical fruit — can help suppress coughs as well as loosen the mucus in your throat.

There are also claims that it can help relieve sinusitis and allergy-based sinus issues, which can contribute to coughs and mucus. However, there is insufficient evidence to support this, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It’s also sometimes used to treat inflammation and swelling.

Bromelain supplements should not be taken by children, or adults who take blood thinners. Also, be careful using this if you are also on antibiotics such as amoxicillin as it can increase the absorption of the antibiotic. Always speak to your doctor before taking new or unfamiliar supplements.

4. Peppermint

Peppermint leaves and the oil of eucalyptus are both well known for their healing properties. Menthol in peppermint soothes the throat and acts as a decongestant, helping to break down mucus. You can benefit by drinking peppermint tea, or by inhaling peppermint vapors from a steam bath. To make a steam bath, drop three to four drops of peppermint oil mixed for every 150 milliliters (mL) of hot water. Drape a towel over your head, and take deep breaths directly above the water.

With eucalyptus, you can create an ointment rub made of coconut oil, beeswax, and eucalyptus oil.

5. Marshmallow

Marshmallow is made from Althaea officinalis, a perennial that flowers in summer. The leaves and roots of the herb have been used since ancient times to treat sore throats and suppress coughs. There are no well-controlled studies to support these claims, but the herb is generally considered safe.

The marshmallow herb contains mucilage, which coats the throat and soothes irritation.

Today, you can get marshmallow root in tea or as in capsule form, although it is not recommended for children.

6. Thyme

Thyme is used by some for respiratory illnesses.One study suggests that the essence extracted from thyme leaves mixed with ivecan help relieve coughing as well as short-term bronchitis. The leaves contain compounds called flavonoids that relax the throat muscles involved in coughing, and also lessen inflammation.

You can make thyme tea at home using two teaspoons of crushed thyme leaves and one cup of boiling water. Cover the cup, steep for 10 minutes, and strain.

How to Prevent Coughing

As well as learning how to treat a cough, you might also want to learn how to prevent them in the first place. To prevent against flu, make sure you get your annual flu shot, and wash your hands as often as possible.

With allergies, you can reduce flare-ups by identifying the allergens that affect you and avoiding exposure to them. Common allergens include trees, pollen, dust mites, animal fur, mold, and insects. Allergy shots are helpful as well and can reduce your sensitivity to allergens. Talk to your doctor about what plan is right for you.

I am a 32 year female. I have been experiencing irregular periods since last 6 to 8 months. Also, last month I had unbearable pain two days prior to my periods. I consulted a gynaec and she did a cryo to me last week. Yesterday I had again terrible pelvic pain shooting to the vagina as well. During USG yesterday it was found a 4x4 cm cyst. She has prescribed levofloxacin. Please advice as still I have pain.

Hi lybrate-user. Not a big issue. Irregular periods is because of ovarian cyst. You have to take some painkillars for the time being. And you have have to start 3 month course for correction of cyst. So dat it will subside. And your periods will become regular after this treatment. Also you have to correct your food habit by avoiding junk food and bakery items, start yoga and walk.
