I had my periods on the last month of 5th and this month till now I don't have my periods. I had some intercourse on the last month before my periods but last month I had my normal periods after my periods I didn't had any intercourse. But why my periods are too late this month. I'm getting little worried.

General Physician, Chandigarh
If you didn't have intercours then nothing should happen but to be doubly sure do get your urine tested for pregnancy and if the report is negative then get the medicines prescribed to get your periods.

We had sex and after sex my wife noticed little blood from her vagina what can be the reason her hymen was broken long time back. Please advise.

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), PGDHHM, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Delhi
This may be due to hormonal change or may be due to any infectious condition under cervix or vagina. It is not due to hymen rupture. Don't worry about that.

As her menses r missed you should get urine pregnancy test done 21 days after the sex, to find out pregnancy. Menses can be delayed by hormonal changes also.

I am 39 years old woman. In my urine test done twice in the past one year, there is a slight trace of blood in urine, around 2 to 3/hpf. Is it normal.

General Physician, Delhi
It may be due to menstruation. So get a urine test done only after one week of menstruation. Otherwise this is quit normal. 2 to 3 RBC s are not significant.

Which is the best sex time for ladies after periods for pregnancy? After how many days.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
To get pregnant you need to have regular sex i. E. 3-4 times a week for one full year before you start seeking medical help. If you want to make her pregnant fast then you can follow this calender method. If a women’s menstrual cycle varies from 26days to 31days cycle, The shortest cycle (26 days) minus 18 days = 8th day. The longest cycle (31 days) minus 10 days=21st day Thus, 8th to 21st day of each cycle counting from first day of menstrual period is considered as fertile period.

She is only 12years[approaching] old. But she have already big breast n excessive growth of hair in her genital part. And she tell me that last week she did masturbation. But she is not having periods. Why is this doctor? Did sexual behaviour starts early in 12? She is really behaving very sexually. She watches porn movies. Did that causes this? How can we reduce it? please help

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
If she has overdeveloped breasts and extra hair growth with hypersexual behavior, then this might well be precocious puberty or Hormonal imbalance. I would sincerely advice you to consult a Endocrinologist and Gynecologist. Investigate her for a hormonal profile thoroughly. In case of persistent behaviour problems in spite of a normal hormonal profile consult me online for medical assistance

Get your Thyroid Function Tests and FBS & PPBS checked in a good lab. 1. Take less energy, spend more. Therefore, eat less, exercise more. 2. Eat less of sugars, starches and fat and more of proteins, fiber, vitamins and minerals. This means, fill your stomach with salads like raw carrots, turnip, cucumber, tomatoes and plenty of boiled seasonal vegetables etc. And less-sweet fruits like guava, papaya, apples, pears, oranges etc. Avoid cold drinks also. 3. Do regular physical exercise like brisk walk, cycling, swimming, KAPAAL BHAARTI and MANDOOK AASAN. Tell me after two weeks.

Does Aldactone 50 pass into breast milk? My baby is 1 year 3 month & breastfeed 4 times. Can I take that medicine? I have pcos & took it before pregnancy. If it is not safe in breastfeeding which one will I take in alternate?

Aldactone does pass into breast milk. So if the drug is essential for the mother, we advise her to discontinue breastfeeding. In your case, its importance can be judged only when I know the present problem owing to PCOS. Please contact me for details and treatment.

Hi lybrate user, if their is white discharge from vagina in pregnancy is normal provided that not associated with curdy white, thick, greenish, foul swelling, associated with itching. Pain in abdomen could be due to constipation or urine infection. Sometimes pain in lower abdomen dull aching is because of increasing size of the uterus. Please consult obstetrician if too much discharge or if it is not relived, associated with above symptoms.

How to Ensure a Normal Period When You're Suffering from PCOS?

MRCOG, MD -gynaecology, obstretition, MBBS

How to Ensure a Normal Period When You're Suffering from PCOS?

How to ensure a normal period when you're suffering from PCOS?

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder affecting 12-18% of women of reproductive age. PCOS is a condition where at least two of the following conditions occur:

1. Appearance of acne, excessive hair on your body

2. Irregular delayed periods

3. The presence of 10 to 12 small cysts in the ovaries.

You do not ovulate each month, and some women do not ovulate at all if they are suffering from PCOS. This is because although the ovaries of women, suffering from PCOS, usually have many follicles, they do not develop fully and so ovulation often does not occur. If you do not ovulate, you may not have periods.

So what can you do to have normal periods?

Although some women with PCOS have regular periods, high levels of androgen and also the hormone insulin, can disrupt the monthly cycle of ovulation and menstruation. If you have PCOS, your periods may be irregular or may stop altogether. The average menstrual cycle is 28 days with one ovulation, but anywhere between 21 and 35 days is considered normal, and for a woman suffering from PCOS, this cycle can take as much as 3 months to complete.

To ensure a normal period during PCOS, your doctor can prescribe hormonal contraception. The medication can also reduce menstrual cramps, acne, and excess hair growth. The estrogen and progesterone in hormonal contraception act to override the body's normal hormonal control of menstrual cycle and ovulation. Production of hormones such as testosterone is greatly reduced by the oral contraceptive pill. Some oral contraceptive pills not only aim to block the effects of testosterone but also increase insulin resistance.

By allowing the regular shedding of the uterus lining during menstruation, the pill can reduce the risk of developing endometrial cancer while ensuring you get normal periods.

Note: it is important that you closely watch your weight. Lifestyle changes and weight reduction help a lot when you are suffering from PCOS.
