Hello doc,

Yes a 3 month old baby can have chicken pox and in that case you Must take her to your pediatrician as it can be dangerous if not treated early. All rashes are not chicken pox, so please check with your doctor to be sure. Rashes with fever can happen in viral illness as well.

My daughter is 4 years old she often complains about stomach ache and pain in d legs we have consulted 2 to 3 doctors but she still complains about stomach ache sometimes I want to know which medicine aur syrup can be given for immediate relief. And what is the permanent solution for it.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)
Pediatrician, Muzaffarnagar
I suppose, her stomach ache is for short duration without any other symptom. Such type of pain is non specific and gets relieved on its own and usually no medicine is effective. It gets cure after passage of time. Medicine takes some time to act, by the time pain is relieved, credit goes to medicine while it subsided on its own. Therefore, I do not advise any medicine except to explain as now. Some time periodical deworming once in 2 to 3 months may help.

This is often normal when babies cry or shout for a while. And it just improves over time. You need not worry or do anything if he is playful and feeding well.

Stop or decrease solid foods, particularly if baby is younger than 6 months. Most solids foods have fewer calories and nutrients than breastmilk, plus they tend to replace (rather than add to) the higher-calorie, more nutritious breastmilk. Sleep close to your baby (this increases prolactin and frequency of nursing). Learn baby massage — this has been proven to improve digestion and weight gain. Carry baby throughout the day in a baby carrier; get as much skin to skin contact as you can. Both of these things have been shown to improve weight gain. Nurse often – at least every 2 hours during the day and at least once at night. Frequent nursing increases baby’s milk intake. Make sure you’re allowing your baby to completely finish one side before you offer the other by waiting upon her cues that she is finished; i.e. Pulling off herself and looking satisfied, going to sleep, changing from an active suck/swallow to more of a pacifier suck, etc. Always OFFER the second side, but don’t worry if she doesn’t seem to need it. It’s much more important that she be allowed to completely finish one side than that she nurse both sides. By doing so she will be assured of reaching enough of the richer, more caloric hindmilk that helps her to go longer between feedings. Use breast massage and breast compression during breastfeeding. If you’re pumping, use hands on pumping techniques. Pump or hand express for a couple of minutes before nursing. This will remove some of the foremilk so that your baby receives more of the richer, higher calorie hindmilk. If supplements are medically indicated, breastmilk is preferred over formula as a supplement (exceptions to this are rare), and the average fat/calorie content of mom’s milk is higher than that of formula. Mom can pump for 5-10 minutes after nursing (don’t interrupt or shorten the nursing session to do this), and offer this higher-fat hindmilk to baby as needed. This is also an option for moms who normally offer expressed milk when they are separated from baby. Usually at 16 months DTP can cause swelling/fever and it will subside of its own. No intervention is needed but if the iinjection was given more superficial an abscess can happen and its a very rare thing. For swelling no need to worry untill your child complain of pain. For next DTP vaccine at 5 years remind your Pediatrician to give vaccine deep intramuscular. Thank you.

Hi, I am having a query about my daughter. She is 8 months old. She don't eat anything if I force her she cries a lot and vomit it out. She only do breast feeding. What should I do? Feeling confused.

Hi, I am having a query about my daughter. She is 8 months old. She don't eat anything if I force her she cries a lot...
Hello. Firstly, try to stop breastfeeding. It will cause some trouble for few days. Bear it. Next, donot force her to eat. That will make her averse to food. Sit together on a dining table and give her a separate plate and spoon. Serve food and let her enjoy it by herself. It will be messy at times, but enjoy it. If she is hungry, she will eat. You and your family also join together at meals. It will automatically develop her eating habits. Happy parenting Regards
