Sodium Consumption - 4 Ways You Can Reduce It

Minerals and salts are important parts of our daily diets. These minerals play significant roles in the functioning of the human body but, if found in excess, they might adversely impact your health. One such mineral is sodium, which is abundant in most food sources.
Sodium is present in every food in the form of salt. Most forms of meat, canned vegetables and soup, junk food and pickles are some examples of food which are naturally high in sodium. Apart from this, any cooked food will have salt crystals within it. Medical research has shown that most people consume more sodium than what is recommended.
Ill Effects of Sodium Intake in Excess:
- The most common problem caused by the excessive consumption of sodium is high blood pressure.
- High blood pressure, apart from being the cause of strokes can also affect internal organs like kidneys and cause renal failure over time.
- It can also be detrimental to the heart and be a contributing factor to heart conditions as well.
Here are some of the ways through which you can reduce sodium intake through changes in diet.

  • Increasing the intake of fruits within the diet - Inclusion of more fresh fruits in your diet will reduce the amount of sodium consumption. Canned and processed fruits may increase sodium consumption and hence should be reduced.
  • Changing to fresh unprocessed meats - Certain processed and packaged meats such as in snacks and fast foods should be avoided as they have high sodium content. Hence, consumption of fresh meat instead of processed meat is an effective way to reduce your daily sodium intake.
  • Including more leafy vegetables in your diet - Leafy green vegetables such as kale, spinach, and celery have a lot of water and also help reduce the sodium intake in your body.
  • Drinking plenty of water - Sodium levels can rise within the body when it is dehydrated. Thus, it is prudent to always keep your body hydrated by drinking plenty of water. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dietitian/Nutritionist.

Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day.

How to overcome Obesity

I am Dr. Suneet Khanna. I am a MBBS doctor. I am practicing weight loss and nutrition for the last 30 years. I’m the oldest doctor in this line, to practice weight loss, nutrition. Today I will talk about Obesity.

What is Obesity? Fat. If you are fat, what to do? In our program, in my program, I call people, once in 10 days, that is, 3 times in a month. Once you come to me, we check your weight, enquire about your health, your diet pattern, your family history, medical problems; then we put you on a diet plan. It could be roti, sabzi, dal, pasta, kulcha, Subway, chicken, fish, eggs, mutton, brownies, cheesecakes, all that would be given to you. We will tell you to walk 30 minutes. 30 minutes of walk is very important.

Our program is based on the timing of food, the quantity of food, a combination of food and 30 minutes of walk. Initially, first 10 days, we don’t allow you to eat out. First ten days. Attending Parties, functions, has to be deleted. 30 minutes of walk is important. No alcohol for 20 days, 20 days no alcohol. And coming to me on time, is very important. Latecomers are not seen. In my schedule, I plan out diet as per your requirement. You are school teacher, you are a professional, you are in a corporate sector, I plan out diets accordingly. I plan out timings accordingly. All I require from people is honesty to the weight loss programme. I always believe and you also believe that a diet program is a very serious effort. It is not a joke. You can’t take a diet, and go back home. Diet programme is to be followed with zeal, with enthusiasm. Diet programme has to be, you know, on the job.

It is certainly not harmful. The point is whether it is useful. Just doing multiple tests per day (you did not mention whether you are doing it every day) does not help you. Keep a diary and share the readings with your doctor to analyse it give instructions. Do it again when and how frequently it should be done for your diabetes management. He is the best judge. As your, level variations can properly be analysed and measures recommended by a qualified and experienced doctor.

If you are asking this question on behalf of your wife then the answer is sometimes benign lumps are noted in female breast which have pain and also grow in premenstrual period. Please see a surgeon for physical examination to rule out fibroadenosis or a tumor.

I have been suffering from sleep disorder for past 4 years even I sleep for the entire day I never feel refreshed, always feel drowsy and sleepy trough the entire day with a nagging headache at the back of the head. I had to breath in forcefully while sleeping. I have consulted a psychiatrist for the same he has prescribed serlift 50 twice daily and trazalone 25 at night. Hello, you should take homoeopathic medicines along with these medicines. Consult a homoeopath in person for the proper medication. You should set your daily routine. Start the day with morning walk, exercising and meditation. Drink plenty of water through out the day. These little changes will keep you positive and active.

Hello. It might be due to excessive dryness. You can apply almond oil to the part and massage gently for 5 minutes twice a day. For cleaning use ayurvedic ubtan twice a day.

You can’t brush every time you eat. But you sure can drink water or at least rinse your mouth with water every time you do so. Water neutralises the effects of acidic and sugary foods. Rinsing removes food particles left behind on/ between the teeth.

Home remedies for so long standing dandruff may not work. Firstly we need to check if its dandruff or no and then if its dandruff, weather its greasy scalpe or dry. Accordingly we need to treat. However, you can start with ketoconazole containing shampoo, for 10 days. Apply it on the scalpe for 10-15 min and rinse and wash with drinking water preferably warm or cold. Wash your pillow case znd comb daily.

I would advise your mother shows a gynaecologist in person as she needs an ugent examination; pelvic usg and endometrial biopsy to rule out anything sinister.

1. You may be having anxiety or stress. Avoid stress. 2. You need 7-8 hours of sound sleep to remain healthy. 3. Go for regular exercise, Take part in games and sports, 4. Do yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise like pranayama to calm your mind, control your emotion, relieve anxiety and improve concentration. 5. Adhere to a specific sleep time and regular schedule 6. Take light dinner. 7. Avoid taking tea/coffee at bed time. Have a glass of warm milk at bed time. 8. Don’t go to sleep immediately after dinner. Take a small walk after dinner and if possible take hot water bath before sleep. Read a light magazine or interesting book before going to bed 9.
