In a known case of diabetic we need to control sugar levels with medication, aerobic exercise and following a diabetic diet and few tips on diet say no to maida items like toast, khaari ,naan ,white bread. Can drink tea but without sugar say no to Buffalo milk and can drink cows milk can eat brown bread can eat sprout's can eat green vegetables, can eat chappati ,bajra ka rotla can eat one katori of rice twice a day with dal to avoid farsan food items can eat fruits say no to coconut water.

Freckles - Bid Them Goodbye!

The complexion of a person is determined by a pigment known as melanin. More the amount of melanin in a person, darker the complexion. The benefit of melanin is effective sun protection, and it prevents damage from sun exposure.

We have noticed people with dark (brown/black) spots that are darker than the surroundings skin. Commonly affected areas are the face, neck, hands, back, etc. These are melanin concentrated areas and become more visible in fair complexioned people. They are caused due to overproduction of melanin by the melanocytes, which are responsible for the production of melanin.

Now, what causes freckles is not clearly established, though the following are proposed.

  1. Exposure to sunlight: The cells responsible for melanin production absorb the sun and therefore produce excessive melanin. This is a natural defence mechanism of the skin.
  2. Ethnicity: Races with white skin are more likely to have freckles than races with darker skin.
  3. Weather: Some people tend to have freckles only in the summer with fairly clear skin during the winter.
  4. Genetics: If your parents or siblings have freckles, the chances of you having it are quite high.
  5. Tanning: Whether by natural means of greater exposure to the sun or artificially done if the salon, increases the chances of developing freckles.

Treatment: There are rumours stating that freckles are “angel kisses,” and “good night charms” and should not be removed as it would bring bad fortune. This is, however, not true and for purely cosmetic reasons, they need to be removed. The commonly affected age group (<30) also is cosmetically sensitive, and therefore the need to treat these.

Prevention is the best and the first solution. Whether by race, heredity, or lifestyle, if you are prone to develop freckles, ensure you are taking the necessary steps to avoid getting freckles in the first place. Avoid sun exposure without sun protection, avoid tanning, and you will be surprised how you can actually prevent freckles. Watch out for weather changes and avoid sun exposure. Reducing the amount of sun exposure can also help in keeping the freckles light, thereby not making too much of a cosmetic concern.

If prevention is not possible, some of the effective treatment measures include:

  1. Topical creams: These contain bleaching agents like Retin-A. One disadvantage though is that it acts on the entire skin and not just the freckles.
  2. Laser: A beam of the laser is used to get rid of the unwanted melanocytes which produce melanin. It also improves skin tone and colour.
  3. Cryotherapy: Liquid nitrogen is used to freeze the melanin-producing cells, thereby removing freckles.

After treating freckles, preventing freckle formation with limiting sun exposure and sun protection is extremely essential. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dermatologist.

Avoid all junk food and all sweet food. Low fat diet does not work for majority of people. Eat wholesome nutritious food full of fibres, good quality fat like ghee and coconut etc. Don't focus on calories but on nutritional density and diversity. Simultaneously working on exercise and diet will surely help. Best rate to lose weight is 1/2 kg per week. If that happens, it is least likely to go high again in future. You do not have to do rigorous exercise to lose weight but start with something small. Let us say 8 minute workout. Go to you tube and type 8 minute workout and you will see many options. Pick one which you like and can do. Trying to lose weight in very short time will need some form of crash diet. Even if you lose weight doing this kind of crash diet, you will get it all back within no time and all the gain will be mainly fat. Not good for your health. Be gentle and patient with yourself. Demonstrate commitment in your persistent efforts. Make comprehensive change in diet, exercise, sleep and stress in your routine. This is called lifestyle medicine. If you can not do it on your own, find some expert who can help you in this over extended period of time. Best wishes.

According to who, bmi is one of standard ratio for height and weight. It should be between 18 to 25 for normal body. Above 25 are calculated in overweight. Your bmi is near 19. You are healthy.

Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

Bleeding from teeth only mean that there might be tartar /deposit on your teeth. Which need to be cleaned and polished by dentist. Kindly get it checked by dentist and take medications /treatment for the same.

I am a 28 years old woman. I have fatty liver and hypothyroidism and also uric acid. I have low blood sugar levels and I remain in bed all the time. I am under treatment but there is no improvement. Can you suggest me something that can help me heal. I may have asperger's syndrome and sensitive skin. I have fever like temperature even in a cold room. To cool off I had to pour cold water. There are so many problems going on, plus I have to take anti psychotic medicine and anti depression medicine. I have ear infection and bacterial infection all over my body. IN HYPOTHYROIDISM:--- where there is deficiency of thyroxine hormone leading to sluggishness, tired feeling, weight increase, slow heart beats, intolerance to cold, swelling of legs, feet and face, difficulty in concentrating and at times in speech. Treatment for hypothyroidism is giving thyroxine tablets. And dose are according to level of thyroid for life time. Avoid bad habits . Avoid stress. Some Relax during work. For fever take one tablet paracetamol 650 mg and can repeat it after eight hours as and when needed and get your blood checked for cbc, mp, widal, sgpt and urine r/m and follow up with reports.

Some times I tend to be too emotional. I feel like may be I m unknowingly feeling depressed and that anxiety is turned into extreme sense of emotions that even makes me cry very much. What do you suggest?

I think you are right about the possible depression, which is sadness based. The anxiety is fear based and may cause you undue distress. These emotions must be expressed, and ideally with a counselor. You may need to learn much about emotions too, and the counselor will meet that need too. First, visit the counselor and discuss your problem at length. If necessary take your parents and your entire developmental history from prenatal days till today. Also it would help if you took your family history from your grandparents onwards. The counselor will help identify the origins and give you a series of things to do. If your depression is really severe, that person may suggest a doctor? s visit too. Now cooperate with both of the therapies for the best results, for a substantially long time. Do not discontinue the counseling, if you are on medication. You must be active and work towards your reformation. Many lifestyle changes need to be made to progress away for the condition. When you are depressed, you will feel lazy though I would like to call it lethargy. There is an inertia and lack of energy to even think, let alone act. You are required to literally do the opposite of what you feel like doing. Depression makes you want to withdraw, lie down, sleep, become lethargic, slow down, make you too lazy to even think etc. So when I suggested doing the opposite, you will need to fight this disease. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, eat more of proteins and vegetables, attend yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on tv or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scotching heat. Your asthma suggests that you have unexpressed feelings of sadness and fear that may in fact show signs of improvement as soon as you deal with these feelings! whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three things, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in god to alleviate your sufferings too. Don? t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. You are young and you can do it with some commitment.

Hi, take complete bed rest. Consume high protein diet like sprouts, egg, soya, milk and milk products to regain the energy and strength which is lost due to the infection. Avoid spicy and oil fried food. Consume plenty of fluids. Take the antibiotics prescribed by the doctor for 10-14 days. Avoid outside food and fresh and hot home made food is preferred.

Hi lybrate-user never take supplements, they are slow poison which will harm your body, television ads and gym coaches will never tell you the side effects because they want profits. To gain weight firstly start doing surya namaskar in morning, secondly start doing prithvi mudra with your fingers for 20 minutes, do this for 20 minutes. Buy shilajit satt from patanjali store put 2 drops in hot milk and eat with 2 bananas everydayin morning. Eat lots of almonds, paneer, 2 figs, green seasonal vegetables and drink atleast 3 to 4 liters of water everyday but make sure you drink no water after eating your meals, give a gap of 90 minutes.
